Social 52 Ratings and Reviews
New place for us. Excited to try it and we were not disappointed. The service (Bridgett) was excellent. The menu is not huge but the choices selected were awesome. The Brussel sprouts were delicious and the Cuban sandwich fantastic. My spouse had the ravioli dish with chicken added and that too was excellent. She had the mac and Cheetos appetizer which was quite filling and very good as well. Couldn't eat it all.
Great inexpensive place in our opinion. The bar was active and gave us people to watch. We will return to Social52 again soon. It's one of those casual places that's a good Friday night or Saturday night stop. Great food, great service, and a nice feel. Definitely worth the drive on a cold and snowy Saturday night!!!
I made reservations at this restaurant for a Saturday brunch meal. The breakfast was EXACTLY like the breakfast food you’re served at the airport - no better but slightly worse. The sausages were so disgusting, I couldn’t finish eating them.
Friends of the owner must be posting reviews, because there is no way this is a 4 star restaurant.
This eatery was a NO for me. I suggest they prepare and serve fresh quality food items for brunch or stop serving ‘brunch’ or open up a spot inside the airport.
We came here for a casual, but filling dinner following the Richmond marathon. The atmosphere is great, lively but not too loud. Service is wonderful, prompt and friendly. It was great to have a happy hour option on Saturday. The list of local brews is varied and has great options. The apps (buy 1 get 1 half off during happy hour) are AMAZING. We loved the deep fried deviled eggs, the sliders (with duck), the mac n cheese with cheetohs (trust me, it's great), and the fried green tomatoes and shrimp.
All of our entrees were delicious, huge portions, and wonderfully made. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly, my dinner companions had the burger, jambalaya, and carbonara, all of which we'd recommend. Next time we're in Richmond, we'll definitely come back.
we enjoyed the restaurant. The fact that they had a happy hour not just in the bar part but in the restaurant on a Saturday until 7 was amazing so we were able to get one app for full price and one for half price. we also tried the sangria but thought it was a little to tart for our taste. We tried the crabbies mule (not on happy hour ) and it was very tasty. We tried the deed friend deviled eggs and the Cheetos mac and cheese. I will go back just for the devil eggs. For dinner they forgot to delete the bacon from my grilled cheese however this was quickly fixed however the second grilled cheese was hard and I couldn't taste the apple in it. My husband had tha ravioli and loved it. all was better and forgotten about the bacon when we had the French toast crème brulee...yummy. we will be back just next time I wont get the grilled cheese.
Based on the previous reviews I thought that this may be a nice 'up and coming' place for a casual dinner. It felt like a college pub and the service definitely subpar. I try to give the server the benefit of the doubt but she certainly did not treat us as a valued customer. From the moment we sat until the time we left our entire table kept asking 'where is our server?' Drinks were empty, plates were finished, and a bill needed to be paid.
I don't think this is a place I will be returning to.
Arrived 10mins before my reservation and the place was pretty empty for the most part but then again it was a Wednesday evening and it was almost 7pm. My fiancé and I waited for someone to come up to the host stand we where sat immediately. Overall service was ok we ordered drinks and appetizers as we waited for friends. Our friends came ordered and the wings and fried Brussel sprouts we ordered still were not out but he appetizer our friends ordered was. The server apologized and took the items off the bill which was appreciated. We all ordered burgers and all in all they were ok. I would visit again and would tell anyone planning on going not to expect anything extraordinary it was average in my opinion but fairly priced considering.
Dissapointed. Service was slow and food was alright. Loud customers were next to us, and they had much better service by a lady waitress other than the man that served us. He did one thing at a time and took a while to come back but he was very knowledgeable about the menu.
We went for Mothers day brunch and found the food to be very good. Two of us got the eggs benidict and it was yummy, one french toast and shrimp--sounds weird but it was a great combo!! Lastly, the chicken and waffles were awesome!! Our server was very friendly and helpful. We will be back!
Our first visit to Social 52. We were very impressed with management before we even visited. We made a reservation for 3 for Mother's Day originally but had to call next day and ask to change reservation to 7. They were very nice and accommodating. Our visit on Mother's Day was fantastic. We had a wonderful waiter, very personable and attentive. Food was outstanding. We had one of the seven entree orders delayed but manager came over with the entree and apologized as well as removed entree from tab. Their Bloody Mary cart was highlight of the day for our son-in-law. Will be going back soon!!!
On vacation, and chose social 52 for our first Richmond meal. We chose it based on the menu options. I was surprised by the great beer selection when we walked in, and many of the tap options were Virginia beers. The food was very good. I love mac and cheese and was very curious about the mac and cheetos. Unique combination. We had the jambalaya risotto and the steak medallions for dinner, both very good. We finished with the Nutella cheesecake..mmm. Sadly, they didn't have the French toast creme brûlée. With all the good food and beer, the best part of the whole meal was Abby's service! Very friendly, helpful, and attentive! We mentioned we were in town briefly on a road trip to Florida, and asked if she had any suggestions while we're in town...she came back with a written list of options that covered multiple interests (breweries, art, parks, sports)!!! Above and beyond expectations!
We went here for the food, and were not disappointed, and we would go back for the service!
My party of 7 went for Sunday brunch at 10am, so it was still early. The waiter was friendly and personable , but we had multiple issues . First thing he listed off what was NOT on the menu that day, which was weird since it was so early for food to have run out. Then, other issues included :
-my friend's white coffee cup had a lipstick stain on it.
-my cousin requested no bacon in her omelette , which then came out with ....you guessed it, bacon! By the time it was replaced everyone had finished eating.
-husband requested Texas toast instead of hash with his omelette. Omelette came out with ...hash. Finally Texas toast came out and it wasn't truly Texas toast , just grilled dry regular toast.
-service in general from the kitchen was very slow and sporadic , I suspect understaffing in the kitchen because honestly there weren't that many people in the restaurant .
Food was decent but nothing mind-blowing .Would not return for brunch
We met up for some drinks and a light dinner consisting of mostly appetizers and a dinner among the three of us. The appetizers were all very tasty and the meal was good too. Really liked the fried deviled eggs. Had a kick to them, but were tasty. The mac and cheetos was tasty and don't forget to add that bacon for a really yummy combo. The new sangria on tap was delicious! I will definitely get that again. We had a nice time. It is pretty loud, so just be ready for that. Food is good!!! I would definitely go again. Waitress was very helpful with suggestions as well.
We've been here before and I think we will go back with some caveats. It was really loud and because of a private party, we had to sit in the middle of the restaurant instead of near the door where we sat last time. We ended u taking our food home to eat.
This was a unique situation because of the private party. No hard feelings.
