I love brunch at Social 52 but the service this week was dreadful. We were seated for over 30 minutes before anyone even brought us water. This has never happened before so I will keep my plans to have brunch there with a friend this weekend. I’m thinking that this was just a bad day. I don’t want to have to give up their chicken and waffles because of poor service.
Limited menu. Three orders of eggs over cooked. Over easy came out over hard.
Enjoyed the dinner but it took an hour before we were served our food. We had reservations.
We had high hopes for Social 52, and unfortunately we were let down. When we walked in, one of the owners was working the host stand. He asked if we had ever been there, and when we said no, he was genuinely shocked that anyone in Richmond existed and hadn't been there before. This arrogance alone was offputting, and the rest of our visit was similarly disappointing. All 4 of our meals were way too salty, and the food took longer than it should've to come out of the kitchen. To top it off, there were several large groups of loud, drunk people who took over the whole restaurant. I'm sure our experience would've been very different if we were just there to drink, but I would not recommend this as a dinner spot.
Overcooked food and lackadaisical Service
Had great time. They had been very attentive and intouch with my daughters peanut allergy. Food was great. The siracha honey wings had been amazing.
It had been a long time since we had brunch at Social 52 and I’m not sure why. I forgot that the food is delicious and very reasonably priced (the gravy that accompanied the chicken and waffles is to die for) and you can get a pitcher of mimosas on the cheap. The service was attentive but not intrusive which allowed for lovely conversation. I can’t wait to get back there!
Food is faboulous. Love the fact they can accommodate a large party. Great variety of food at a reasonable price. Nice selection of beers too.
Delicious food! We were excited to find that they had happy hour specials on a Saturday. Also, many comparable places don’t have a kid’s menu. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they had one, to include crayons and a picture to color.
First time to Social52 - won't be the last. I had heard about Social52 and finally got there after weeks or months of wanting to go, and I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed yet energetic and fun. The food was great. We had an assortment of appetizers (don't miss the fried deviled eggs!) that our group of four shared, which was plenty for us, saving room for dessert, of course. Social52's selection of beers was vast such that I was able to find at least a couple of new choices to try (and love). Mixed drinks were creative and enjoyable as was the wine. We capped off with desserts (Key lime pie and Belgian waffle creme brulee) which did NOT disappoint! Every aspect of the evening was great, and we'll definitely return soon.
One thing to note - Prior to going, I read other reviews that said that the servers and staff at Social52 were less-than-friendly and that this was a detractor. I'm here to tell you that our experience couldn't have been farther from that. Our server was AWESOME! She was fun, engaging, witty, and took great care of us. In addition to that, at least two other employees stopped by our table on different occasions to check on us and to make sure that we were having a great time (which we were). Had we heeded those other reviews, we would've never given Social52 a try, but we're glad we did try it and will certainly go back. Highly recommend!
Second time here and no disappointments.
Nice beer and drink menu to whet your whistle, featuring a good number of local (VA or RVA) craft beers.
The menu is diverse to appeal to most palates. I am a fan of their Brussels sprouts appetizer as well as their grilled edamame (yes grilled). Both have a little twist from conventional that makes them unique and flavorful.
Our party enjoyed the pasta dish, a flatbread and the beet salad. All were cooked on point, and the food and drinks came out quickly.
Definitely would return...
Don't leave without ordering the Nutella Cheesecake. Really nice servers. A little loud but it was the night of the Naughty Santa Bar Crawl and college football on TV. Enjoyed meeting the owner who takes pride in his establishment. Hope your arm is better soon James. We'll be back.
New place for us. Excited to try it and we were not disappointed. The service (Bridgett) was excellent. The menu is not huge but the choices selected were awesome. The Brussel sprouts were delicious and the Cuban sandwich fantastic. My spouse had the ravioli dish with chicken added and that too was excellent. She had the mac and Cheetos appetizer which was quite filling and very good as well. Couldn't eat it all.
Great inexpensive place in our opinion. The bar was active and gave us people to watch. We will return to Social52 again soon. It's one of those casual places that's a good Friday night or Saturday night stop. Great food, great service, and a nice feel. Definitely worth the drive on a cold and snowy Saturday night!!!
A+ Great service great food, great atmosphere ..
Server was very friendly and excellent
Food, service and setting was excellent. They waitress was attentive and gave us great recommendations.
I made reservations at this restaurant for a Saturday brunch meal. The breakfast was EXACTLY like the breakfast food you’re served at the airport - no better but slightly worse. The sausages were so disgusting, I couldn’t finish eating them.
Friends of the owner must be posting reviews, because there is no way this is a 4 star restaurant.
This eatery was a NO for me. I suggest they prepare and serve fresh quality food items for brunch or stop serving ‘brunch’ or open up a spot inside the airport.
The food was delicious! We started we the duck egg rolls and we are still talking about them days later. Both of our meals were delicious as well. I loved the spinach agnolotti I ordered.
Amazing Sunday Brunch with awesome menu and choices!
We came here for a casual, but filling dinner following the Richmond marathon. The atmosphere is great, lively but not too loud. Service is wonderful, prompt and friendly. It was great to have a happy hour option on Saturday. The list of local brews is varied and has great options. The apps (buy 1 get 1 half off during happy hour) are AMAZING. We loved the deep fried deviled eggs, the sliders (with duck), the mac n cheese with cheetohs (trust me, it's great), and the fried green tomatoes and shrimp.
All of our entrees were delicious, huge portions, and wonderfully made. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly, my dinner companions had the burger, jambalaya, and carbonara, all of which we'd recommend. Next time we're in Richmond, we'll definitely come back.
Service was great and food was great. They had a fantastic beer selection and good Mixtec drinks. The only thing I didn't like was the hard wooden booth seats.
Great meal. Creative, delish Burgers. Good happy hour prices.
Great food in a mice spot. Took my wife here for a date night and it was wonderful. The food was great, our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the food as well as drinks. We will return to this place.
Waiter waa outstanding, food was good. Very nice atmosphere and good craft beer selection.
Always a great place. We went for brunch to celebrate my birthday. Our server was exceptional, the food was great, and the cocktails were on point! We'll be back for sure.
Food took over 50 minutes. Beer selection was pretty amazing. Happy hour on a Saturday was pretty nice. Service was lackluster wasn’t until after our meal was delivered did we receive more water. Overall food was solid when it did arrive.
The waiter was great. The food has changed drastically. The portions has decreased. It used to be wonderful. Now it's just okay.
Great food, great atmosphere, great beer, cool music!
Great food and service! Recommend highly for all occasions.
we enjoyed the restaurant. The fact that they had a happy hour not just in the bar part but in the restaurant on a Saturday until 7 was amazing so we were able to get one app for full price and one for half price. we also tried the sangria but thought it was a little to tart for our taste. We tried the crabbies mule (not on happy hour ) and it was very tasty. We tried the deed friend deviled eggs and the Cheetos mac and cheese. I will go back just for the devil eggs. For dinner they forgot to delete the bacon from my grilled cheese however this was quickly fixed however the second grilled cheese was hard and I couldn't taste the apple in it. My husband had tha ravioli and loved it. all was better and forgotten about the bacon when we had the French toast crème brulee...yummy. we will be back just next time I wont get the grilled cheese.
This was the best food AND service we have had in awhile. The fried brussels app and salmon were awesome. A gem!!
