My boyfriend proposed
Father’s Day brunch. Not their fault but very warm in side
Great Fathers Day Brunch
Excellent food and service. Great experience overall
Husband’s 60th birthday
Great as always!
I asked a week ahead of time for a quiet table. Our group of six was seated right next to a busy service station upstairs food prep area surrounded by large groups Worst ambience in Greenvill wby far.
Great first time experience. Close by to Peace Center (performing arts venue) which is why we chose. Wonderful meal with very attentive service. Mgreat flavor profiles on the items we selected. Even ordered dessert - Derby Pie - which was scrumptious. Loved the Mint Julep ice cream served with the pie.
Soby's is our go-to place and in Greenviller that means a lot. She has her chocolate martini and I have my Amsterdam gin martini to start. Then it is fried green tomatoes for her and the she crab soup for me. (And we trade tastes.) Soby's also has an excellent wine cellar plus a number of wines by the glass. I guess we have had every dish except the veggies. All were good if not outstanding. And when you make reservations, ask for Brion as your server. (Yes, Brion.) He knows the dishes and the wines and seems to anticipate your needs. He is off Fridays and Sundays. No, it isn't cheap, but the experience is worth it. Look at the menu which changes quarterly on line.
Excellent menu and food. A very friendly and well trained staff. Wonderful experience for our anniversary ... including a surprise bouquet of roses.
Great service from Sara before the show at the Peace Center.
Great food and great service. The steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp and grits were wonderful. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone.
Ich bin bei Soby’s ein Wiederholungstäter! Immer exzellent!
Gegen den warmen Tag gab es erst mal ein Gin Mule. Die Cocktails bei Soby’s sind lecker. Der Gin Mule kommt mit Zitrone und Rosmarin.
Dann She Crab Soup. Lecker wie immer.
Die Crab Cakes waren auch super, dieses Mal mit einem Weißwein von Prisoner (sehr empfehlenswert).
Dinner was good...
I expect they delivered what they wanted to...that’s fine and everything was good, don’t get me wrong, it was just unimaginative and didn’t jell.
The gumbo overpowered a very mild fish...both were good, just not together. The lamb was great, but the greens kicked the crap out of a very subtle risotto. My biggest disappointment was a lackluster use of a surprise guest on the menu...chanterelle mushrooms. The only reason I ordered the ribeye was for them and the dish did nothing to coax them out...and they were cold. Made me sad.
Service was good / great but too rushed. Don’t know if the server or the kitchen was to blame, but they literally pulled the salad plates to place our entrees down.
It was good, just not great
The waiter was especially attentive. I always enjoy the service at Soby's.
We weren’t crazy about being up on the 2nd floor placed next to a large window overlooking the parking lot but we soon forgot got about it since our entrees and dessert were out of this world!! Soby’s is our new favorite restaurant when in Greenville; we now know to request a booth on the first level.
We often go to the Sunday brunch no better place in Greenville SC for a great meal and ambience.
Sunday brunch...Food cold, buffet line was not being attended by staff...Shrimp and Grits were good, what was left, no wait staff to replenish food....Several of the "clean" plates had remnants of food on them....Not very good for the money spent....Won't be back....
We enjoyed a fabulous Sunday brunch following a brief business meeting. The food and service were fantastic. The four of enjoyed being able to select what we wanted, but ran out of room before being able to taste the numerous options. I especially enjoyed my made to order omelette, the lasagna, and shrimp and grits.
Soby’s outdoor dining on a lovely weather night was quite nice but the service wasn’t great. Our waiter didn’t check in with us until dinner was done.
I have been to Soby's many times and I have a great experience every visit! I usually order the pork tenderloin, but this time I switched it up and went for the shrimp and grits. They were delicious! Our group came here to show my friend what southern cuisine was all about, and she said she enjoyed it a lot. We also ordered a variety of Mules and they were all tasty and inventive. Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Greenville, or for anyone looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion!
Great food, service but table location in high traffic area
Enjoyed Soby's, both the food and service. We had a great waiter! We chose the restaurant because we read online that it was dog friendly with outside dining. It takes reservations so we could request a good dining time outdoors on the patio. It allowed us to people watch on a nice summer evening but not be right on the sidewalk with pedestrians walking right by our table.
We had a party of 11. Some are adventurous eaters; some are picky eaters. The menu was extensive and varied enough to cover all tastes and everyone was happy. The specialty drinks and the wine options were very good. They even accommodated us by allowing a group who had been elsewhere to come and join us for a drink afterward, even though it was very near their closing time. I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
My mom, dad, and I celebrating them moving to Grenville!
We went to celebrate a graduation with family. We had a wonderful waiter. He Explained menu choices and made recommendations. Very attentive. Very nice meal and experience.
Haven’t been to Soby’s in years. Live in Simpsonville but dine regularly in downtown, mostly North Hampton Wine and Dine. (We were sorry we didn’t make that choice after eating here) Food was awful for what we paid. Had the potato encrusted grouper....wasn’t seasoned and very bland. Also had the crab cake which was gooey and not completely hot all the way through. The grits on the plate(which I substituted for mashed potatoes) looked like they had been sitting there for an hour with a serious film on top and the green beans were undercooked and chewy. My 5 year old daughter had a child’s filet and the char from the grill made it inedible. Best food of the night was her Mac-n-cheese. Won’t be back.
We enjoyed the Sunday brunch. It was well prepared, and the Shrimp and Grits was the best in town. I liked how they duplicated the spread upstairs and down (except for the omelet and carving table). Desserts were exceptional-I like the tiny sizes which allowed me to taste several!
Wonderful Sunday Brunch with my husband. Thoroughly enjoyed the upstairs seating!
early fathers day
A Greenville gem. A 'must' dine spot if you are visiting from out of town, especially the first time. Have had many dinners here (business and personal) but we were here today for Sobys Sunday brunch. A great spread that has traditional offerings along with weekly surprises. Our favorite downtown brunch!
Great experience. Dined outside and had a great server. Excellent food. Would definitely recommend.
Overall good. My steak was medium rare. I ordered it medium. It should be perfectly cooked for 35 bucks. Taste was good but not great. Mashed potatoes have no flavor. Crab cakes are amazing. Order those over steak. If you want a great steak go to larkins on the river or the peddler. I would recommend this place if you like crab cakes. If you want a steak then go somewhere else. Service was very good.
The ambiance is very nice at Soby's. The service seemed a bit rushed, as server did not even wait for drinks to arrive before asking for our dinner orders. The food, however, was excellent!!! The oyster pie was just so delicious and the grouper entree was a thick, beautifully prepared piece of fish with crawfish etouffe. Wife had shrimp and grits and said it was very good. So all in all, a fine evening....just a bit too fast!!!
Awesome experience. We had a 2 top table upstairs over looking the kitchen area. It was really awesome to watch the chefs make the food while enjoying our own privacy. We had great customer service and the food was delicious! The fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, and salmon was very tasty!
We had a wonder modern southern meal with great service. I recommend Soby's for a nice night out for dinner after exploring Greenville, SC!
We have loved Soby's for the past 20 years. The food is delicious, presenting refined takes on southern classics. I really love the pork tenderloin and beef short rib. Soby's brought fine dining to downtown Greenville, a true leader in the revitalization of Main Street. It's awesome that Soby's is still a great innovator today. I highly recommend this Greenville treasure.
Second visit and it was even better than the first!
We went for an anniversary dinner. The dinning experience was good, not great. I felt we were somewhat rushed through the process.
Best meal my wife and I had in a year. Already planning our next trip to Greenville to eat here.
