Still the best overall restaurant in Greenville. Carl's flagship restaurant delivers on everything, atmosphere, service, food and beverage.
Very enjoyable experience. Excellent food, great service and a most relaxing evening
Easter Sunday dinner
I dislike the small 2 person tables on the left hand side of the dinning room in front of the stairs.
There is just too much foot traffic through there and not really enough room for our server to take our order or deliver things. I'm not sure how to fix that, maybe offering table selection when making reservations? Or maybe just do nothing and folks will deal with it, I mean it was annoying...but I'll be back :)
The service was OK, ambiance was fantastic. I ordered the fried chicken and I realized it was undercooked after I had a few bites. They replaced the dish fairly quickly once I was able to get the servers attention, but I only got a brief apology for my troubles.
Good food and great coffee and dessert. Fun dinner with our daughter.
We had pecan pie, bourbon ice cream and wonderful strawberries.
Second time in two weeks. First time had amazing service from hostess, to bartender to servers. First rate across the board. For our next visit, we brought friends in from out of town and were, quite simply, mortified with the appalling service we received from our main server. He was inappropriate, rude, way too chatty about random and nonsensical things and quite frankly ruined our meal. We seriously wondered if he was under the influence of something that was causing so many disconnects. On top of this bizarre experience: apps took forever, water was never refilled, salads came out with main course immediately following, while full salads still on the table, I could go on and on.
Food was delicious, environment fine, but service makes or breaks an evening. Unfortunately our night was broken.
The food was so delicious. The waiter was really attentive and kind as well and so were other servers who attended to us. The waiter even thanked us later as we were leaving. It was a really nice evening and high class. We had a gift card so it is a bit pricey otherwise but the food really is excellent/outstanding and gourmet so you won't be disappointed. The seating is nice too - lots of wood and a high ceiling with windows above.
Enjoyable experience overall. Fried chicken was great. Mac and cheese was disappointing. We are down south, so a rather high bar. Crab cake was disappointing as well. Pecan pie was exemplary. We will return and try other items on the menu
Dinner before a show at the Peace Center.
Had any amazing dinner! Food was fantastic start to finish and the service was excellent!
My potato crusted grouper was excellent. My friend's bacon wrapped pork tenderloin was overcooked.Service was good.
Celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary here. Our waiter was excellent. My shrimp and grits was very good (and I was raised in Charleston). Hubby thought his filet was a little tough. Soby’s was kind enough to treat us to dessert...their creme brûlée is always a winner.
Very good food preparation. Server asked if we were attending Peace Center event. Served and attended event on time.
Soby’s reputation for the best shrimp and grits in town lives up to its name. And the same is true for the crabcakes! The service was excellent. We had a 6 PM reservation and told our waiter we had 7:30 PM tickets at the Peace Center. We enjoyed the she crab soup and spinach salad before our entrées and we’re well on our way at 7:05 having enjoyed a wonderful relaxed meal. And oh the biscuits! Can’t say enough good about Sobey’s!
Excellent food and very attentive waitress.
Best filet mignon and atmosphere was wonderful on the patio
The food was so good! I don’t usually get to go out to more expensive restaurants, but it was totally worth it!
Dinner before Peace Center snow. Our server, Kyle, asked about our time and was extremely attentive and professional. Always a great experience.
Grouper dish and Crab Cakes were great. Wine list is extensive. This should be a stop for anyone in Greenville.
We found Soby’s on Trip Advisor and weren’t disappointed. There are many different seating areas. We chose outside and it was lovely. Our waiter was good but very busy so not quite as attentive as he could have been. I had the salmon and my husband, the shrimp and grits. Both delicious dishes. We’d go back happily. They’re celebrating 21 years this year.
excellent food as always. attentive wait staff. our group had pork tenderloin, crab cakes, she crab soup, salmon and shrimp and grits. real southern favorites
We dined here years ago. My how things have changed. It was so busy on a Sunday. Thats awesome. Chimichurri wasn't my favorite on the bone marrow. Still good. Fried green tomatoes were o.k. The blackened har cot vert really were exceptional. Crab cake nice& meaty. Braised short rib very tasty. Salmon was A+mazing . She crab ridiculous. Grouper needs some help. Sauce was good great.
we will be back. Good wine list as well. Best mule Ever. That Manhattan was Excellent.
Our Waitress, Annabelle was wonderful. We met Brandon, the wine expert and had a wonderful dining experience.
Great server. Food was terrific. Convenient. Loved the building.
We always enjoy Soby's, but I did not think it was as good as previously experienced. The pork tenderloin lacked flavor and the strawberry shortcake was terrible. The cake was dry and lacked strawberries. Three slivers of strawberries with zero moisture does not make strawberry short cake. I didn't complain and I didn't request anything be removed from my bill, but I was disappointed. Hopefully it will be better next time.
Great service. Joey was a wine maker in Napa, CA and we're from SF Bay Area...what a delight to visit and learn about Soby's history!!!!!
Started off a little rocky...we had an 8:30 reservation but weren't seated until 9pm. There was a conference in town (of which we were a part of) so lots of people and last minute changes to other reservations causing an impact. But when we spoke with the manager (Pamela?) when we were seated, she was gracious and apologetic and ensured we had a good experience from that point forward. Donnie, our server, was excellent! Braised beef short ribs, melt in your mouth! They were out of my chosen dessert but my backup choice was still delicious. Will definitely be back when in Greenville again.
Delicious southern food. Excellent server, Soup, who was talkative.
Terrific in all regards. Server, Brion, was as good as we have ever experienced.
Good is delicious, service is outstanding, ambiance is great. We don't come to Greenville often but, when we do, we eat at Soby's. We have NEVER been disappointed.
Everything was A-Plus. A must visit for a great southern meal. Highly recommend the Fried Calamari, Soby’s She Crab Soup, Potato Crusted Grouper, Crispy Fried North Carolina Chicken and the Antebellum Shrimp & Grits.
Rustic feel with a fine dinning atmosphere, our server was very helpful to recommend things since it was first time there. Will be back for sure.
The food was good as usual. Always a pleasant experience.
Love Soby's brunch. Great vibe. Highly recommend!
Great food and Carrie did a great job taking care of us for the evening. We will definitely ask for her again next time.
Great food, great cocktails and the noise level was perfect to still accommodate great conversations.
Really good staff. They were very kind and considerate.
