Soby's Ratings and Reviews
2 of 6 dishes were very good...an octopus app and a beef and grits app....the mains were not good...a shrimp and grits marred by severely overlooked shrimp (inedible) and an over salted fried chicken. We liked the idea of oysters prepared Nashville hot chicken style, but the seasoning was off...no significant heat (Prince’s and Bolton’s are the places in Nashville that have the seasoning perfected).
Combined with a listless uninterested server, not a place to return to. Table not ready at reservation time.
Soby's makes great food. I've been here for Sunday brunch several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, and would have rated 5 stars at the time. I'm going with 4 now because I have since converted to vegetarianism and I was underwhelmed by the options available to me. I had the vegetable plate and enjoyed it; my wife had a salad which she said was ok. There were also a few veggie options in the appetizer section, and the fried green tomatoes we ordered were amazing in my opinion.
been to soby,s many times over last 20 years. food always good as is wine selection and service. I had the fillet mignon which I found to be a bit chewy but other than that the food was excellent. would recommend soby's to anyone who appreciates fine dining.
My wife and I waited for an hour for our food. We informed our server we were going to the Peace Center after dinner so we ordered as soon as we were seated. 1 hour later we were still waiting. No appetizers, just entrees. Also, the guests at the table next to us were seated after us, and they were served and had completed there dinner while we were still waiting. When we asked our server for the check she went downstairs and immediately returned with our dinners. Makes you wonder how long the plates sat under a heat lamp. Regardless, we left so we would not miss our concert. My wife and I will not be returning to this restaurant, and we certainly wouldn't recommend it to our family and friends.
My mother’s fish was raw. My food was good, I went with a staple item so it’s hard to mess up. The server was nice but seemed a bit in the weeds with the number of tables maybe. The atmosphere is amazing for anyone interested in a date night. The portions are decent for $25+ plates. Most places you get a lot less. The drinks are fabulous.
We absolutely LOVE Soby’s brunch! We have a super picky almost 7 year old and he is the one that suggested going this last time. That NEVER happens and this time he ate more food than he ever has at one sitting! So worth every penny! Love it! We have already booked his surprise birthday brunch in December!
Friends in from Charlotte for first GVille visit.
One is pretty difficult to please food-wise and even she raved over her pork loin entree. Everything was great. Would send anyone I know and feel confident that they would be pleased and satisfied with dinner at Soby’s.
We ate at Soby's twice this week. We had out of town company--two different sets--and we knew they'd enjoy Soby's--and they did! Both nights were great --different waiters (both excellent), different choices from the menu--and everyone enjoyed the whole experience. I had trout one night, swordfish the other night -- and both were fabulous. Others loved the fried chicken, shrimp with grits, short ribs. Dessert hits were creme brulee and pecan pie. The ambiance and history of the place add to a wonderful experience. We know we can't go wrong at Soby's.
