Soby's Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time at Soby's. But we will definitely come back! We'd driven to Greenville on New Year's Eve to see a show and chose Soby's for dinner before the show based on a friend's recommendation. We were blown away by everything...the friendly staff who greeted us, our wonderful, knowledgeable server, the best fried green tomatoes we've ever had, all four wonderful meals, the booth seating that made it feel like we had a room to ourselves, the decor and ambiance...just outstanding. I place it in the top 5 fine dinners I've had in my life! And I wasn't drinking!
Great ambiance and the service was good on a very busy night..complementary valet parking also a plus....we both had the caeser salad which was good but nothing really special..a little heavy on the dressing....both entrees were excellent and we would order again...crab cakes and shrimp and grits...hubby said the shrimp and grits was the 2nd best he ever had (next to a restaurant in Charleston) and he orders shrimp and grits everywhere...as I do crab cakes and these stood up well against any I have had....the star of the show may have been the chocolate/hazelnut cheesecake....so light and delicious...we will definitely be going back for that...
We loved our first time visiting Soby’s and it did not disappoint! Though we did not realize they only served their brunch buffet at lunch on Sundays, we were pleased with the results! We got to sample a lot more than we would have if we had just visited on a normal day. We had some incredible grits, breakfast casserole, French toast, but also pork tenderloin, prime rib and chicken breast! The variety and quality of the selection was impressive. We will most definitely return, quite possibly for brunch again!
Donnie was our waiter, and he was very kind, informative and attentive. Thank you, Donnie!
The food was absolutely delicious. The duck was tender and juicy. The fried green tomatoes were out of this world. The only downside was that we did not receive the cheddar biscuits from our server. However, I would hands down come back and recommend it to anyone.
We enjoyed a wonderful Wedding Anniversary meal after seeing a show at the Peace Center on Saturday Dec.30, 2017! The food was amazing, restaurant is cozy and inviting, the service team friendly and professional and to top it all off the value and pricing can't be beat. We will definitely be back in the very near future!
We were given a dinner at Soby's by our daughter and family to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The meal was perfect from the cocktails to dessert! Our young server was efficient, friendly and attentive. We dined on the Lamb chops and Filet, both were cooked just as ordered and delicious. Sides were perfect. Needless to say, we ate every bite! Did splurge on the chocolate pecan pie with homemade spiked ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Cheers to the pastry chef!
We are from out of state but when we come back in April, we hope to dine here again.
We’ve been to Soby’s a few times and the overall experience has always been positive. This time was the same, although the main courses were a little inconsistent.
The fried chicken w/rice, beans and greens was outstanding, while the shrimp and grits were a little soupy and the pork loin was relatively bland and the sides felt like an afterthought.
It was a busy night with a performance going on at the Peace Center and it felt like the dishes were rushed a little bit and not prepared with the normal level of care.
The service was friendly and attentive,
And the atmosphere was pleasantly bustling, as usual.
We’ll be back, but just not the best Soby’s experience we’ve had.
Very disappointed. We went for my sons birthday. There were 5 of us. The waitress was not very attentive to our table. Four of our meals came with my sons being the one that did not come. We were told by the waitress that the manager would bring the dinner and stop by. The manager brought the lobster meal, sat it on the table and left. Said nothing. I am done with Soby’s. There are too many great places to eat in downtown Greenville. Extremely disappointed.
We were in Greenville for a show at the Peace Theater and chose Sobys for dinner. It was an outstanding experience all asking. The food was wonderful and good value for the money. The service was excellent - our waiter was very nice, extremely helpful and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, special without feeling stuffy. Everyone over the staff was so nice and gracious and the whole dining experience exceeded our expectations. We even made it a point to go over and thank the owner! This is a must do if you're in the downtown Greenville area
Boy, we like Soby's. We had not been to Greenville in about a year and were there for a Christmas get-away. The cocktail bar is active, and our drinks were super. I had asked for a booth, and we got one. It was a busy, busy night but our service was simply outstanding. I had ordered a vegetarian plate, and the waiter suggested I add a crab cake. My first Soby's crab cake, and all I can say is crab cake, crab cake, crab cake. Wow.
Our server, Soup, took good care of us. Joe, the wine sommelier picked out a nice bottle of wine. We had the fried green tomatoes and the pimiento cheese for appetizers, the salmon, shrimp and grits and pork for our entrees and the nutella cheesecake to share for dessert. It was all wonderful. Great restaurant choice for our girls night out.
Reservation for office Christmas Party for 4. Table was available right on time. Service was warm, inviting, efficient and non-intrusive. Food was delicious and timely served. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend for regular and special dining.
The service was fantastic. The drinks were good the bartender was also. They pride themselves on these biscuits they serve. They are aweful they taste like someone added far too much baking soda.Fried green tomatoes we're pretty good. We had the pork tenderloin and the braised shortrib. The meat was ok the sides were unremarkable. We wouldn't make a special trip to eat there.
We have dined here multiple times and mostly been happy with the experience. Tonight was disappointing. Our entrees were brought out too soon and also cold. It was offered by server to take them back but I did not want them sitting under heat lamps and getting worse so we asked to box them up to take home. The check did not reflect that our meal was not as hoped. Maybe just an off night for the kitchen? I think soby’s leans too much on it’s reputation and should pay attention to the customer again.
