We love brunch at Soby’s but it seems like it’s getting increasingly difficult to get timely service from our waiters. We spent a good portion of the meal waiting on drinks.
We went for the brunch buffet, and the food was mostly delicious. LOVED the caprese/prosciutto "salad", but the strawberry/spinach/arugala salad left a lot to be desired, and the lamb was tough. My son has wheat and dairy allergies, so it was a little difficult to find things on the buffet that he could eat.. The atmosphere is great, it's a very pretty restaurant. I'd go back to try the regular menu, just probably not for the buffet.
Had a reservation for 8pm. Decided to go early and take a chance for a seat at the bar to eat and they actually had a table for 2 available. Our waiter was outstanding. Full knowledge of the menu and had recommendations. Great restaurant and atmosphere. Food was wonderful. Will recommend and try again
Great food and great service. Best food for the money downtown!
waiter was really great. wish i could recall his name. made our prom dinner really great
Always a great dining experience at Soby's. Noise level can be a problem, especially for this with some hearing loss. But the food is always good, the choices are always creative, the wait staff friendly, and service is always excellent. We were there right in the middle of highschool prom season. The restaurant was full of people and many large parties. But our service was great and the food exceptional as always.
The Hostess was friendly and courteous. She took us to our table and it was good for people watching. Their were many couples dressed for the prom. We enjoyed watching the beautiful gowns and smiling faces. Our waiter was good. He didn’t hover, but he made sure we had our drinks and food in a reasonable time. My friend ordered the She Crab soup and said it was average. I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes, which I have ordered many times at Soby’s and really enjoyed. Saturday night they were soggy and not enjoyable. My friend ordered the Calimari. There were large clumps of tentacles stuck together so she really did not have much to eat. They were also over cooked. I ordered a Wedge Salad. The lettuce was old and not good. The dressing was good. We felt that the chefs might have pre cooked some of our items. I guess they were unprepared for the quantity of people. My friend had never been to Soby’s before and will probably not go back. I have had excellent meals in the past and will try it one more time. We were disappointed.
It was for our 9th Anniversary. Our server Charles was wonderful. My lamb was over cooked but it was taken care of without a problem. They didn’t make me feel like fixing their mistake was an inconvenience to them like some other restaurants do. Will go again and again
We came from Charlotte to Greenville to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had read some positive reviews about Soby's, checked out its website., and made a reservation. I could not have been more pleased.
Our waiter, Charles, was friendly, informative, attentive, and efficient. Each item we ordered, from the fired green tomatoes to the banana cream pie, was delicious. The wine was superb. The physical building is very engaging.
Whenever we get back to Greenville, we definitely will return to Soby's.
pork medallions were wonderful as always although I thought the portion size was smaller than normal. my wife even remarked that normally she couldn't finish my meal but this time she wouldn't have had a problem eating the whole thing! Soby's is so convenient for going to an evening performance at the Peace Ctr
Our server was attentive and helpful in every way. The three of us ordered the fillets which were cooked appropriately but were extremely tough and not particularly flavorful. Each of us had to saw away to cut through them. Soby’s has always been very reliable, especially on event night at The Peace Center, but these steaks were a huge disappointment. All other aspects of the meal were just fine.
Wonderful food, great seasonal selections, my personal favorite shrimp and grits were outstanding
Best restaurant we went to in Greenville. Both the elevated fried chicken and shrimp & grits were great. Server was super friendly and loved the ambience. Definitely recommend if you are visiting.
Our group of six had a reservation on a Sunday night at 8pm. The restaurant was actually crowded. We were seated on time. We had a very good server who made good recommendations and a pleasant server-in-training. The food was excellent. They knew we had a timetable and they made it work with our order. Very nice evening. Definitely get the fried chicken and lamb entrees
The food was very good, and Charles provided top notch service.
We had dinner before seeing a show at the Peace Center. It was a very enjoyable experience!
Buffet Brunch is good. But it is the only option on Sundays in the morning. Make reservations. Don't settle for a table they set up as you enter the dining area.
Everything was amazing. It was pouring and nasty outside but everything was great inside. The Sunday brunch buffet is where it’s at!!!
My only complaint was that our server was very abrupt with us. I felt rushed. He even took my half eaten appetizer plate away?? I didn't say anything because I was stunned. I guess I put my fork down for a second to chew and he thought I was finished.
They easily accommodated my party of 10 with no issues. Not one person had an issue with their food. Our waiter was patient and knowledgeable about the items. The atmosphere was great and we enjoyed it immensely. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. .
Lovely meal. Sat outside watching the world go by. Delicious local food and excellent service.
I noted it was my husband’s 50th bday when I made my reservation. They never once even said happy birthday or acknowledged it in any way. Our waiter seemed too busy to “bother much” with us. He seemed annoyed when we asked questions about the drinks and asked for recommendations on food. The food was delicious though. Might go back but hope for a different waiter.
Soby’s was recommended to use to try and it was very good. I had the Soby’s Old Fashion Cocktail and it was one of The best cocktails I’ve ever had. Mackenzie was our waiter and he was really good also. Food was solid and a great atmosphere
I like bringing candidates for recruitment to Soby's because of the overall "South Carolina" and unique "Greenville" experience . When we fly our candidates into GSP we arrange for their stay at the Marriott just across the street from your restaurant. I love that your menu includes classic low country favorites like shrimp and Grits and crab cakes. Soby's helps us create a memorable experience. The only negative of the evening was the luke warm coffee that was served with our dessert. Overall the food was excellent.

We had a wonderful time. Service was excellent and the food was exceptional. I highly recommend their crab cakes!
Was so amazing. The service staff, atmosphere, and the food was "Outstanding".
Excellent Service...Helped is with deciding what to eat from the great menu not to mention very attentive with our drink orders.
I haven't been to Soby's in a while, and honestly, the last time I was there I was underwhelmed, but this dining experience was worse. The appetizer, a white sauce with a tiny amount of crab meat and flavored with a hint of blue cheese, was mediocre at best. The presentation on the plate was sloppy with small amount of potato chips scattered around one side of the plate. As for the entree, I ordered a filet mignon. I asked them to butterfly it, but the waiter told me he didn't think that was a good idea since it was a small filet, so I acquiesced. I requested 'medium' but only the edges were medium; the center was quite bloody and I just couldn't eat it. The vegetable medley on the side was soggy and overcooked -- it was a big disappointment!! I could have called the waiter back and explained that I was unhappy with it, but we were celebrating a birthday, and I didn't want to put a damper on things. (It would have made it awkward to have to sit there waiting for my entree to reappear while others were enjoying their meal, and additionally, they would have had to wait for me to finish before we could all be back in sync again and order dessert.) And speaking of dessert, we selected a white chocolate banana cream pie -- something along those lines -- and it really didn't taste any better than something I could buy from the frozen section of the grocery store. I don't know what has happened back in the kitchen at Soby's . . . I'm not likely to to return.
Had shrimp and grits. Was excellent. Everything was okay
Everything good like on all other days I been there
Soby’s is a go-to when we visit Greenville. If weather is pleasant eat outdoors - right on Main Street & great people watching. Excellent wine list & servers are always well informed & personable.
What a wonderful evening my wife and I had at Soby's. The Short ribs with polenta and Sea Scallops with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Excellent! Our server, Carson was so attentive without being intrusive. Definitely a pre-theatre dining location.
Outstanding restaurant. Food was excellent and service was a notch above.
Brion was the best server ever. Great food and experience!!!
Consistently good food, excellent service and innovative options. A true go to choice in the city.
We enjoyed a wonderful birthday there with friends. As always the Sunday Brunch was delicious! The shrimp and grits are always a favorite as well as the Mimosas and Bloody Marys!
We have heard so many great things about the Soby's Sunday brunch that we had to try it. I love the atmosphere and the great architecture they've taken advantage of. Soby's food is wonderful and brunch is especially lovely because you have an omelette and carving station as well as prepared breakfast and lunch options to choose from and to top it off the dessert station! The shrimp and grits were my absolute favorite and the blueberry cobbler was fantastic.
Our server was attentive without being smothering.
A restaurant with consistently good food, service and value.
We were very impressed with the setting, the service and the food. Unaware of the prices as this was our first visit, it was much higher than expected so we will place Soby’s in the special occasion category and look forward to the next visit.
