Sunday Brunch Excellent Food & variety
Sat us 20 minutes after reservation time. We were a party of 4 and they pushed two party of two tables together at the top of a narrow staircase. Begs the question as to why bother with making a reservation.
I usually sit in the bar area for drinks and appetizers with friends which we usually enjoy, but this time sat in the dining area to celebrate a friend's birthday. We originally made the reservation for 6 people but ended up with 5 and as a result were seated at a table for 4 with 2 people crammed together on one side. Our server was excellent. As far as the food goes, I those who ordered the entrees - shrimp and grits, filet mignon, and fish - were pleased with their meals. However, two of us ordered salads (the wedge and the spinach) along with the add-on crab cake to be served as our entrees. The salads (both $8 each) and the crab cake ($12) were really small. Mine was literally placed on a small salad plate together, that's how small it was. However, they did remove the nuts from the spinach salad as requested due to an allergy. In summary, I think the food is good depending on what you order but a little over-priced, great service, and also difficult to have a conversation due to the noise level.
We were seated at the time of our reservation. The service was excellent as was the food!
They had trouble with reservations, we waited 25 minutes past our reservation time. Our service was immaculate, led me to trying a great grouper/crawfish etouffee with wine pair that I never would have tried it. Service and food more than saved the reservation fumble.
We love the staff at Soby's they are always professional.
Loved the atmosphere and ambiance. Service was excellent. Server told us a little of the history of the restaurant. Wine service was also excellent. My companion and I both had the crab cakes and presentation and quality were excellent as well. Would definitely recommend and will return again.
Listen, we are in our 80's, so noise level in ANY restaurant is a problem - not just in yours. In my opinion you don't need the background "music" - but you are not catering to us.
Food was super and the service was ditto.
Of course, we'd recommend you.
Very good food. Very good service. Was pretty loud and the table we say at was pretty tiny but it wasn't too bad. I'd definitely go back.
Cocktails were awesome and it went downhill after that. Don’t understand the hype. Fried chicken was good, everything else pretty uninspiring.
What an outstanding evening and dinner. Could not ask for better food, service or atmosphere. Soby’s us always spot on.
Good place to go for dinner, but make a reservation if it’s the week-end. Great food/excellent service!
This was my 2nd visit to Soby's and I hope for there to be many more! Atmosphere is great, service was good, and food was delicious! Their crab cakes and bacon wrapped pork tenderloin were amazing! I love their veggie choices too....brussel sprouts, green beans, broccolini....yumm!! Lots of good low carb options, which I needed.
Soby's is our favorite treat when visiting Greenville. The food never disappoints! Service is excellent and the atmosphere inside or out on their beautiful patio is superb!
First time going after several people told me about and it met every expectation and then some. The staff also knew we had a show at the Peace Center and did everything they could to make sure we made the show on time. Incredible service, Incredible food and Incredible ambiance. Will definitely go back and will tell all my friends.
Great time seating above kitchen
We celebrated our 41st anniversary. Everything about our experience was wonderful, food, service, etc. we will definitely go again.
Great place. This is a staple for me when I visit Greenville. You can’t go wrong eating at sobys.
Our sister and brother-in-law were visiting from Seattle and Soby’s was our first choice for dinner. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were very good, then the she crab soup. Dang the soup is sooo good finished with just the right amount of sherry. Two of our party had the crab cakes, one the fried chicken and the fourth had the shrimp and grits for our entrees. We were very pleased with how absolutely delicious our entrees were. We shared 2 orders of the pecan pie with bourbon vanilla ice cream. Yummmm! Our waiter and the sommelier both gave us great suggestions and their service was impeccable. My husband and I have been to Soby’s many times and this restaurant never lets us down. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about your service and food. We look forward to our next visit! Thanks Soby’s, you never disappoint.
Would definitely go again. We went for the Sunday brunch and we enjoyed it.
Outstanding brunch and the place is so cool.I would go there every Sunday. Looking forward to having dinner there
What a wonderful brunch! The buffet is spectacular and it was truly one of the best omelets I've ever eaten. All food was fresh and tasty. Thanks for a great farewell from Greenville; we can't wait to be back!
We were in Greenville for a basketball tournament and decided to try Soby’s For dinner. The food was outstanding and our waiter tended to our every need. We would definitely recommend Soby’s to anyone.
So, this was an unusual experience at Soby's. We had requested a waitress from a previous night, but she apparently was not having a good night. Ok, anyone can have those. Unfortunately, the kitchen was also having a bad night, as the Salmon that my wife ordered was undercooked. When we informed a passing waiter (our waitress had not returned to check with us), he said nothing, grabbed a bread plate and removed the salmon leaving the rest of the plate and side dishes. 10 minutes later the Salmon was returned, prepared well, but the sides were now cold. No one asked or questioned this.
We are chocking this up to just a bad night. We usually have good experience at Soby's.
It's always a great meal at Soby's.
Always love eating at this restaurant when in Greenville. Excellent food in a wonderful atmosphere!
First time very nice. Steak undercooked but staff fixed it. Great ambiance and convenient to theater. Definitely will return.
Very good dining experience. Good Friends from Houston came into town & stayed at Westin Poinsett so we chose Soby’s
My boyfriend & I dined here before going to see the Book of Mormon at the Peace Center. Our server, Ashley W., out did herself. She was on point with all of her recommendations, got us in & out in the perfect amount of time and to top it off, she was hilarious. I had the she crab soup and lamb chops, and was absolutely blown away. My boyfriend got the Kansas City steak special and it was cooked to a perfect rare temperature. We sat above the kitchen, which is always my favorite seat in the house. I loved watching the chefs prepare meal after meal, with flawless confidence. My only complaint would have to be your host & her choice of work attire for the evening. She was wearing a very short black dress that her butt cheeks were hanging out of, and every time she walked past us which was often, she was exposed. Other than that, our experience was great and most definitely will be back.
Great food and service. When reservations were made our request was honored and appreciated the attention to details.
Everything at Soby’s was absolutely top notch. Fabulous food and delicious cocktails, impeccably served by Kyle. We were seated upstairs and although Soby’s is large, the atmosphere was warm and cozy. We loved it and can’t wait to go back!
Loved the setting. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was fantastic! Great southern cuisine. Totally recommend the short ribs!
The food was delicious as has been our experience. We love the ambience.
Although the service was excellent, the food was mediocre. it was merely okay, when i had hoped for something truly special, a signature taste.
We had the spinach salad that was very tasty. Our entrees were the fried chicken and the salmon. The fried chicken was the best that I’ve had crispy but moist. My husband enjoyed the salmon very much. Service was excellent. We will return.
Good Food and Exceptional Service.
Crab cake entree was good............Would be better if a higher grade (Backfin) of Crabmeat were utilized. Sony's still is a great, go-to spot in downtown Greenville.
Excellent meal, excellent service!
A $35 filet, ordered medium rare, should not come out burnt and charred. The filet was replaced, after everyone else was almost finished. Service was great, but quality was worst I’ve had at Soby’s in the last 10yrs.
There were three people in my party - for two it was excellent but I was disappointed with my dinner. They ordered the potato crusted grouper and I ordered the flat iron steak. I should have ordered the grouper. They thought the grouper was outstanding and I thought the steak was tasteless. The same thing happened with desert. The server said that the chocolate banana cream pie was their specialty but again I found it to be just sweet with little banana flavor and the chocolate turned out to be white chocolate, which really doesn’t have much flavor in my opinion - would have been better with real chocolate. Again my dinner companions loved their desert. So really their experience was 5 stars where mine was more like 3 - thus the rating of 4 stars. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things.
Tasty pre-show meal with great service!
