Soby’s New South Cuisine is an eclectic blend of contemporary continental cuisine infused with traditional Southern ingredients, transforming old favorites into something fresh and new. The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Greenville, in a renovated cotton mill built in the 1800s.     We Loved Sobys. Great service and ambiance. Shrimp and grits , crab cakes. Halibut special and short ribs were all delicious . The only negative about the food was the biscuits they brought as part of the meal which didn’t have much taste .

    We have had our server before, but he was a little off. Slow and not very attentive. Cocktails were flat. Food was not very hot, but good. Dessert was a big disappointment. We had Cake by the Ocean. Very little taste. Ice cream was supposed to be coconut, but actually closer to vanilla. Not a good experience for the money.

    Service, food and ambience were great. Our wait person was both attentive and informed. And if she didn't know an answer immediately she made the effort to find out. I would definitely recommend that my friends try the restaurant and I hope to return.

    Great and knowledgable waiter! We shared the fried green tomatoes appetizer, that was such a treat to have. We both had the crab cake dinners, served with a tasty corn choux, mashed potatoes and haricots. Wonderful combination. Both we great and we will definitely return.

    Made a reservation at 1.3 apparently they close at 2 to re open master. They shouldn’t take reservations when they are about to close. Was rushed and waitress was not nice, worst part it was a birthday celebration.

    Soby's is FABULOUS! This was our first time at this restaurant. The staff was so nice and attentive. They went above and beyond to celebrate my husband's retirement. The menu has a wide variety of choices to satisfy anyone's preferences. The food was delicious! I loved every bite! I highly recommend this restaurant and will be going back!

    Exceptional service. My wife and I enjoyed our wine selection so much I asked our waiter Derrick if I could purchase additional bottles. He introduced us to Caitlin,who not only checked on our request, but delivered a case of wine to our home that night as we walked to the restaurant and live about a mile away. Our entrees were also prepared perfectly. Entire experience was beyond 5 star service

    Not sure why I made a reservation. Didn't seem to help since we waited 15 minutes and then we seated in the bar. ?? Thought that was the purpose of OpenTable. Aside from that, the good was great and our server was as well. I would recommend the short rib but not the banana cream pie. The bananas were too ripe and overpowering.

    We were charged $70 for a bottle of wine that was priced at $55 on the menu. I was with a couple of friends and did not want to make a scene but that is shameful.

    We were at Soby's celebrating my birthday, with my beautiful wife! As always, the food was superb! We had the wedge salad and she crab soup for appetizers! They were very tasty and pleasing to the palette! Oh and we also tried the appetizer, shrimp and grits. For entrees, we had the fried chicken and the crab cakes! We had the peach cheesecake to go. It was courtesy of the restaurant for my birthday! The service was excellent. Zack was very attentive, pleasant, polite and professional! He also had a great sense of humor and lots of energy! The ambiance was electrifying and energetic. We can’t wait to dine at Soby’s again!

    Food and service was excellent as usual! However, the temperature was extremely uncomfortable as it was very hot and humid - so much so that it took away from the experience. Keeping the bar area open to the street made the entire restaurant very uncomfortable and I wish that were better controlled.

    Since moving to Greenville, we have dined at Soby's several times. The food is usually good. I have been a fan of the calamari appetizer until recently. There is something off in the last two times I have ordered it so I probably won't order it anymore as I am very particular about calamari. This time there were very few pieces of arugula and they were in sad shape. The globby mustard sauce didn't seem blended very well and overwhelmed the dish. Loved the she crab soup and pimento cheese appetizer. My husband's crab cakes were good as well. Our server was very nice and didn't charge me for the calamari which I appreciated and actually didn't expect. We also enjoyed dining on the patio and plan to do that next time.
