Terrific for tapas style dinner. Waitress Brandi’s suggestions for cocktails were spot on. Visiting from Los Angeles—prices for the quality of food & presentation would be considered a bargain there. Sweet potato beignets, pear salad, cherries jubilee with vanilla bread pudding all standouts. We split 4 small plates & 2 desserts with cocktails for $45 each including tip.
A lot of the main dishes they were sold out of and it was only 6pm! Also out of a lot of the drinks on the drink menu too. Disappointed.
Amazing Service! Delicious food - outstanding customer service!
Perfect!! Legs & Eggs brunch was the perfect adult atmosphere for my boyfriends birthday celebration. We had the best waiter, knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, fun! The entertainment was outstanding. Bella and her burlesque show made our day!! The food, I cannot say enough about!! Simply delicious!! Not one complaint or negative comment can be said. I would rate this as an event for adults. Although she did make a costume change when there were children in the restaurant, which was very nice!! Thank you we will return with more friends!!
We went for the Legs and Eggs Brunch and it was a wonderful experience. We all shared plates and enjoyed the band and the show. Jacques, our waiter, was incredibly attentive at all the right times and helped pull it all together. We had a great time and I highly recommend it.
Delicious food great friendly service and entertainment at the Sunday brunch. Fun will revisit again. Thank you
Great dinner and thanks to our waiter Brian for making recommendations on beer and Osso Bucco ! He was terrific
On a story day during Frenc Quarter Fest, we ended our day here to eat dinner. Was pleasantly surprised with the concise menu selections, it was not short on taste. Genius to put tender Short Ribs on Sweet Potato pie, delicious! Along with the Trout with crabmeat stuffing and the Bread pudding dessert. Great atmosphere, pleasant staff. Plan on going back for brunch and will recommend to guests.
Well worth the visit. Outstanding service and food was made to order (no added salt) with the waitress making good wine recommendations.
The food was simply not good. The waiter horrible. Poor advice. Largely inattentive. The massive 50 oz pork special meal was largely pork fat. And mainly salty with little other flavor. The fish with the plantains was missing plantains, unless they were ground to dust and mixed into the minuscule stuffing. The menu description are misleading. We were a party of six and we can say the cocktails were good. The rest of it- yech. I cannot understand how a Brennan restaurant can be just so awful. It is embarrassing too. Avoid this restaurant until they fix it.
Great food but the service was by far one of the worst experiences we ever had. The long wait for our drinks and then our meal, and the lack of the mere presence of our waiter. We actually had to track him down after sitting for 1.5 hours without getting our meal! Never checked in on us. Not once. Then gave us the wrong check. Hopefully it was just our waiter - the other diners came and went. Not even an acknowledgement that we had to wait so long - even though the manager had to “check on our order.” For these reasons we would never return. Complete lack of caring about the patrons.
Wonderful!
Only 1 waiter for 7 tables. White Russian was made with a Kalula substitute, horrible. Our food was cold Food was obviously sitting to be delivered for awhile. Very disappointed
Good food, but a mouse was running around disrupting service
The live music and the burlesque show was fun! I had the fried quail and waffles...really good! Great place for brunch!
Brian our waiter was fantastic he definitely knows what he is doing. The food was awesome. I would highly recommend anyone visiting to come to the spot !
I gotta say I had great expectations for this place and was saddened by the food
My husband and I split the pork chop and it was dry as a bone
When I told our waitress she had not one word to say about it
Also dessert was mediocre at best
On our reservation I mentioned it was my husbands 50th Birthday and not one mention to him from the establishment
If your looking for a good meal on your trip to Nola skip this place
The atmosphere was nice and the menu was creative. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We had the the fried crisps, beignets, the pork dish for two it was and pecan without the pie. It was all amazing. If I went back I would order the same exact dishes as they left me and my husband impressed with the flavor and thoughtfulness put into each dish.
I had a free afternoon in New Orleans while on a business trip, and chose SoBou because it was open for lunch/dinner throughout the afternoon. I ended up sitting at the bar and having a couple cocktails and the stuffed geaux fish, which was delicious. It was very relaxing way to pass a couple hours while waiting for my flight back home.
Food was fabulous and service very fast and prompt. Maybe a bit too so as we felt a bit rushed. The restaurant was quiet.
Brian was outstanding.
Indifferent, disinterested service. Preparation of food reflected chef, kitchen staff, and Management as being indifferent and disinterested.
Imaginative ambience, --- but could not overcome fundamental deficiencies in service, food, and Management.
First time here and had been wanting to go for awhile. The atmosphere was very contemporary and inviting. Pernithia took good care of me. I like to try small plates and they had a great selection. Everything was very good. Good wine list by the glass. I would go back. Comfortable for single diners
The atmosphere was lots of fun and very festive! Sunday was legs and eggs Burlesque brunch .... food was delicious and very creative!! Third time there and I’ll definitely go back next trip to Nola!!
During our annual trip to New Orleans we do eat at some fabulous restaurants. But on this trip we saved the best for last. The brunch at SoBou was simply amazing. It is prix Fixe and there are choices for everyone. I had the crispy quail and waffles. Served with a perfect poached egg on top it was the crowning meal to anime great NOLA adventure.
Our server Kandice made this brunch even better, she was so warm and welcoming and took my nut allergy very seriously and she let me know when the bar tender was going to make my old fashioned so I could watch him hand chip the ice ball. Awesome!!
We started at the bar since the maître d was very punctual in his seating which was fine since this place has fantastic cocktails. Our waiter Brian recommended a few things and he was not only fabulous but had some excellent suggestions when we gave him a few choices we were considering. He was funny, engaging, and certainly memorable enough that if we go back, I'll ask if he's working to get him again.
It was overall a great night, and my only one complaint was for such a great staff, SoBou has one of the surliest bartenders I think I've ever come across in New Orleans. He mixes some great drinks, but it wouldn't kill him to be just a tad friendlier. Maybe the management should allow him to take a sip every so often. Might improve his outlook on life, or at least try to encourage me to tip.
Great atmosphere and food! Definitely will be visited again.
The visit was a birthday celebration for two. I was disconcerted when they said they would seat us in the front. We had reservations so I insisted we sit in the back area-it was quite empty. They said they had many reservations coming in but seated us in the back after I insisted. We were there at 5:30 in time for happy hour. Instead of mentioning happy hour, I had to ask. Then only certain cocktails were part of happy hour which could have been explained from the outset. Instead, when we ordered from the special list, we were told no in a negative tone. We were made to feel bad because we wanted to take advantage of happy hour. Then when we ordered a second drink before the time expired, the waiter didn’t indicate that what my friend ordered was not on the happy hour menu. The food was delicious but the drink/happy hour situation set a very negative tone with me. The waiters and maybe, it was only our waiter should be better trained. And by the way, the back dining room was never full even when we left.
We waited unusually long for our drinks, I believe the waiter was overwhelmed. Brandy our waitress was very personable. I had the best salad, pear and pickled grapes, just delicious. My fiancé dinner was good, had the surf and turf. I loved the decor of the restaurant, but overall was expecting a better experience there.
Excellent service and ambiance. The surf and turf sounded too good to pass up, and did not disappoint.
We've patronized So Bou in the past. The restaurant is well designed and our waitress was very attentive. Unfortunately we were looking forward to the Whole Crispy Fish entrée. It was not available. So we closed out our tab and went elsewhere.
Can’t believe I paid high dollar for a very small portion of food. Osso Bucco was 1/4 the amount it should be and surf and turf was a medallion of meat and one shrimp. Let the place starving and got to go to Cafe Du Mondrian to buy beignets to satisfy my hunger.
Eating at SoBou was a last minute decision. We were promptly seated. The service was attentive. The food was excellent. The Honey Nut Cheerio Milk Punch was fantastic.
I hope that we just caught the place on an off night, but we left disappointed. First thing, we were seated promptly, even though we arrived 15 minutes early, but that wasn't a problem because the place wasn't even a quarter full. We were taken to our table in the main room which was VERY dark. We had to pull out cell phones to see the menus. OK, we got past that, and our waitress worked very hard and attended to us very well, so I give her credit for trying, but she made a key mistake...my wife ordered surf and turf, but was not asked how the turf should be cooked. The result was a well done steak (admittedly, her scallops were nearly perfect) that was just plain not good. I'll eat almost anything, and even I stopped at one bite when I sampled it. My fish was OK, not great. Everything was very salty. Some of that comes with the territory, but this was overboard. (We had to rush back to the hotel to get her out of her shoes and for me to get my wedding band off, because the swelling was really something.) Dessert (chocolate coma) was good, but I've had a lot better.
I love Commander's, and just about anything else affiliated with any Brennan, but I left So Bou surprised (in a bad way), i.e., disappointed. I hope this was just an isolated experience.
Great for a light and relaxing lunch. Food and service was spectacular!
A group of friends at a conference chose SoBou because of the menu, ratings, and availability. It was delicious! Service started out slow, but so did we. Everyone was delighted with our choices - fish specials and the sweet potato beignets. Good cocktail and wine options. We were too full for dessert.
Creative small plates. Excellently prepared entrees. Very disappointing desserts.
We went to Sabou with some out of town friends and although the food was outstanding, the restaurant was a bit disappointing. First of all, we were seated in the center of the back dining room, away from the street. Good. But the room was so dark that everyone at the table (in fact everyone in the room) had to turn on cell phones to read the menu. Even seeing the beautifully presented food was difficult in the almost non existent light. Can you imagine how silly it looks to see everyone in a restaurant using his cell phone to get some light on the table?
Also, this is a restaurant that boasts it cocktail prowess. O.K., so I asked if they had Plymouth Gin. The waitress said they did, then came back and said they didn't. No big deal. But they have a drink on their cocktail menu with Lilette as one of the ingredients. My wife ordered a simple Lilette on the rocks. The waitress came back and said they didn't have Lilette. Really?
Another thing was that there were no bus boys (or girls). Our drink glasses sat on the table for the entire dinner and we asked the harried waitress if there were bus people and she said "no". She had to take the orders, serve the food, and clean up. That's absurd in a restaurant of this caliber.
This is a Commander's Palace restaurant, and, as such, I expected a much better overall experience. So, as I said: It was a bit disappointing...
We booked this because Commanders Palace(their parent restaurant) was booked. Figured it would be similar. It was a beautiful place for sure. 1st strike was they advertise their cocktails But was told they could not do a chocolate martini 🙄. So i ordered a different drink which was good. Unfortunately this was the one and only drink i had because i was never asked if i wanted another. Very disappointed. Our waitress was very nice but very un attentive. She had 3 or 4 tables around us and checked on them several times skipping us. So disheartening because Commanders Palace’ service is top notch. My water was empty for quite some time also. The food was okay. Very small portions!! I understand this is their trendy restaurant and they have that down! Jus5 need to work in the service if they have association with Commanders Palace!
Cocktails were exceptional, doors was great, service was fair. I'd highly recommend pregaming in the bar, where the experience was made!!!
