Great food and service will return
The ambiance was trendy and swank, food was well-portioned and tasty,, waitstaff and management were excellent. Our server, Dever, was attentive without being obtrusive. The complimentary shots we had added to the value of our meal and provided a unique opportunity to sample something that we may not have tried otherwise due to the unique flavor profile. We had an amazing experience. We shall return and we shall tell our friends and family to try SoBou in the near future.
I don't know what people are talking about with poor service or stale food. We first discovered this place on a food tour - everything was tasty and the chef presented their out-of-this-world take on beignets. Returned tonight for more drinks and tastes. The oyster tacos and shrimp shortcake were excellent. The bread pudding was great (and large!). The drinks were delicious. The service was polite and helpful. I love the decor and music. Recommended!!!
SoBou was delicious. We had breakfast there 3 times and dinner once. The food was very good and plentiful. The servers were attentive and friendly.
This was a fun new find!
Great decor and atmosphere.
The food was very good.
Service was very good and they were great about answering questions about ingredients on some of the dishes we had.
Service wasn’t great. The burlesque brunch was lovely as the dancer was charismatic and the band was great, though a bit loud. The food was just OK compared to other options in New Orleans.
Great service! The staff was friendly, professional and seemed to really enjoy working there! That makes for a very nice atmosphere! The crispy oyster tacos were excellent, as well as the sweet potato beignets! We went for lunch and it was perfect!
We had 6PM reservations. Nearly mt and quiet so we could chat. Did the fixed price menu $38. Great value. I had duck others drum. Everything was nicely prepared and not over salted. Others drifted in and got noises but it’s NO. Will go back again.
Terrible service - so slow .. we could see our food waiting on the pass and hadn’t to ask for it as it was getting cold . Stay away.
What a cool spot. Easy to get to, great atmosphere, plus phenomenal food and service. Toi was a tremendous server and genuinely made us feel welcomed. Recommended to friends who are visiting this weekend!
The food was the absolute best!!!! The music and entertainment added so much to the experience. We loved it!!!
Nene and Darius made my group of first-timers feel very welcome and they had a blast! Having been to SoBou several times before, I knew they would love it! As always, you all delivered. The band was wonderful and Bella Blue killed it! Can’t wait to come back.
Server was very attentive and explained the menu well.
Our Coolinary meal was outstanding! Love love love the tasso and shrimp corn dogs! Server Toi was attentive, helpful and friendly. We will be back often!
Great food and service
Fabulous, I would dine here everyday if I could.
Very attentive service and creative menu
I love SoBou’s elegant decor, and chose to have lunch there because of its lunch menu during New Orleans’ August Coolinary event. My companion and I ordered the seafood and rustic gumbos which were very good. As entrees, we chose the fried oyster tacos and Vietnamese pork belly Po’boy. While the tacos were quite tasty and the pork belly and accompanying pickled vegetables flavorful, the Po’boy was served on stale, inedible bread.
Our server was both distracted and indifferent to our dining experience. Our food and drink orders were mixed up repeatedly. Further, when asked why our martinis were not served in the appropriate stemware, his response was “what do you expect for a .25 cent martini.” If Commanders Palace can serve their .25 cent martini in an actual martini glass, why can’t SoBou do the same?
Food was great!! We had the table in the back so that was nice for a big group like ours. We did have to find the waiter a few times even though the restaurant wasn't that busy, but I would recommend this restaurant for the food!!
Great Food! Better Service!
Good food, loved the Duck and boudin dressing!
The Shrimp and Tasso Corndogs were also very tasty.
I did not care for the Bread pudding lollypop. Very dry and seemed stale.
Service was friendly and professional.
Drinks very good as well.
Coolinary menu was amazing! Can’t wait till next year!
A delicious, quiet brunch
The food was not great. The service was good. The food was bland and their take on reinventing NOLA staples where not good to me. The Cajun gumbo was served with mashed potato instead of rice. The BBQ shrimp were served with a sweet shortbread type of cornbread. The sweetness of the cornbread and the savory shrimp did not work together.
Dever was our server and acknowledged us by name. She also acknowledged the occasion we were celebrating.
The food was just okay. It had been recommended by a co-worker. I’m sure we won’t return for the food. The cocktails and service were awesome!!!
The location was easy to find—very close to Canal Street.
The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home!!
Burlesque show once an hour during brunch was a fun surprise and definitely added to the atmosphere! Very classy and fun to see a show while dining. Enjoyed the live jazz as well. The hooch of the day is a good value and convenient when it gets busy.
Food was good and flavorful. First two courses of shrimp & Tasso “corn dogs” and LA sweet potato beignets, and the duck confit and steak & eggs were great. COOLinary month offering was generous.
We’d come back here for brunch.
Ambiance was fine but the service was not great. It was a birthday lunch and the server even ask us when we were seating at the table and check the Birthboy ID to confirm birthday but we did not get any birthday candle on his dessert and the service was not just ok. The hostess was also cold and unfriendly. We stayed at the W hotel for red dress run next door but we did not eat here again after the sad lunch. We went to meril for dinner and they gave us a fantastic birthday surprise. It the little things that count and the small gesture that make repeat customers.
Fun menu.. staff was very attentive and the food was different and fun. Great bar area and great selection of food and drinks
Fun atmosphere for a get together with friends. Loved the 25 cent martinis for lunch.
I am not a creole food lover. I came to this restaurant from a recommendation at my hotel. Not real impressed with the menu. No basic food items, like chicken or steak for those of us not liking other items offered. The seafood choices are marginal at best. I ordered the bbq shrimp on a biscuit because nothing else look appetizing. There were 5 shrimp on the plate with a dry piece of crumbling pastry that did not go with the dish. The sauce was too much for the tiny amount of food served in it. The dessert was good but by the time I got to it my stomach hurt from the main entree. So sorry, I would not recommend this restaurant.
Great food and service.
Excellent food and atmosphere- casual but fine dining experience.
The burlesque brunch was so fun! Food is great and definite tradition to Nola!
Nini was a fantastic waitress. The burlesque brunch paired with bottomless mimosas was definitely worth the value. Would highly recommend.
My husband and I recently visited New Orleans for the first time and happened to stumble upon this restaurant. We absolutely loved the live band, and the bubbly energy of the burlesque dancer! We appreciated that they moved around the restaurant so everyone got a chance to enjoy it. The food was delicious, with very thoughtfully put together flavour combinations, and our server Richard was very kind and attentive. The staff seemed to communicate well and really work as a team. I would definitely recommend this experience!
Absolutely amazing dining experience!
It used to be very good, but it’s clear management has changed. The food was terrible, like bad room service food terrible. Very salty and nothing like the menu describes.
Horrible service (except for the hostess). The server was too busy trying to get with the guy sitting at the table next to us to pay us any attention.
We left after 20 minutes of waiting.
Very good overall, good food, good waitresses and ambiance. Two things to note if you're booking for a combination of music 1 - overall, the place is noisy, so hearing the music can be a bit of a struggle if it's not 'in your zone & 2 - the band wanders around 3 zones, so you get to see / hear about a third of a performance per 30 minute set.
