SoBo Cafe Ratings and Reviews
I live down the street from SoBo Cafe and have dined here fairly frequently over the last two years. I like the creative menu here - there are seasonal dishes along with staples that never change. The house salad, spinach pie, french onion soup and flatbreads are some of my favorites. Good variety of wine to choose from. Service is warm and friendly. Atmosphere is cozy. Such a nice change from the frat house bars in Fed Hill. It's one of the best restaurants i the neighborhood. Only thing to note is that SoBo does not have a full liquor license (i.e. no martinis or other cocktails).
We went here for Sunday brunch and had a great time. We got a homemade cinnamon roll to share between two people and I would seriously it to anyone visiting! It was amazing, as was the coffee and the rest of our food. They brought out homemade blueberry pound cake to start the meal too - everything was fantastic. The portions were so large that we will get at least one more meal out of it, so the price we paid for the quantity/quality of the food would be hard to beat!
This was our second time at SoBo Cafe. Food was excellent as before. I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. Again. Out of this world. Intimate ambiance. Staff is warm, friendly, knowledgeable. Love this place. It's the kind of place where the owner comes to your table and asks if everything is to your liking. Not too pricey. Not stuffy. You should try this restaurant. Both times my wife and I were impressed with everything.
Really good food but service was terrible. Not surprising since there was one waitress to accommodate the entire restaurant. It took her almost 45 minutes to take our order for our main entree after we had finished our salads and another hour to give us our Check. I probably will go back but if the service is that bad again I wouldn’t return because I simply can’t wait two hours to get dinner.
This was our first visit to Sobo, having read the good reviews and looked at the menu. When we first walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess, who made us feel very welcome despite arriving 10 minutes late (traffic). Once at our table, we were greeted with smiles and answers to our questions about the beers and menu items. During the meal, while our servers were attentive, they were never cloying and let us enjoy our meal. The hostess also came by and asked if everything was OK and if we needed anything. We noticed that there were a number of families with young children - a very nice mix of clientele. All in all, it was a very positive experience and we will return soon, I'm sure.
Able to get a table 15 minutes before our reservation. Service was kind of slow and they neglected to bring one item we ordered. We had to request it again. I was only asked if I wanted a coffee refill once although the servers came by at least 4 times. My companion was not asked at all if she wanted another drink when her glass was empty. The food was worth the service issues though.
The food was good but the service was lacking. She didn't take our order for a while, never asked if we wanted more drinks, never checked in to see if everything was okay. Ambiance is nothing special. They have potential because the food is tasty for the most part but won't be going back anytime soon.
This was a great find in Federal Hill. Stopped in here with my husband and daughter after visiting the Science Center and had a late brunch - based on great reviews on Open Table. The place was so charming. Service was perfect and the brunch was fantastic. Prices were extremely reasonable. French Onion had a kick which is a rare treat. Cinnamon rolls were delicious. The big breakfast could easily be shared by two adults. Wished we lived closer. Highly recommend.
As other diners have noted, I hesitate to rave about this restaurant because I don’t want it to get crazy crowded but it is really good. We have eaten here several times the past year, although not often enough, and the food and service are always great. This past Sunday we had brunch. I had the big breakfast which offered a nice variety of food: eggs, toast, meat, potatoes, fruit, baby pancakes. I couldn’t eat it all so my husband took it home with the remainder of his Sobo breakfast sandwich. My eggs were perfectly cooked, which doesn’t always happen. We love it here and will be back. Supper is good, too.
We went for restaurant week and the food was delicious! The lentil soup was very flavorful and the salmon was well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. The service was also excellent. Our water glasses were never empty and our waitress checked in with us numerous times to make sure we had everything we needed. We had a wonderful experience.
The service was truly outstanding. The food was all delicious. The menu had something for everyone. Pork chops, fresh dinner salad, Thai noodles with tofu. Desserts are made in house from scratch. Bread was baked in house. We loved the ambiance. Sound panels on the ceiling are a thoughtful accent so that we could have great dinner conversation without shooting even though the place was packed. We brought friends here from out of town and it was a huge hit. We'll definitely be back.
This restaurant is usually fantastic, but on this occasion, it was not. I ordered their special of Prime Rib for $30. I love Prime Rib. It's really so easy to make and is almost always great. This serving, however, was pretty awful. It was not juicy, flavorful, and the texture was chewy. In addition, it was barely warm. I did not complain because I had already complained about the baked potato, which must have been made the day before and reheated. The worst I'd ever had. I also did not want to disturb my party, whose meals were good. The waiter was great. He did me comp a free dessert. All in all, I'll return, but I will stick to their regular menu.
We met friends for dinner at Sobo Cafe. When our server (Linda) learned that one of us had food allergies, she talked with the chef and returned with a menu that highlighted all of the "safe" choices. Our friend was blown away! On top of that, we all had great food, including vegan. Sobo is a favorite of ours in Baltimore and never disappoints. It's definitely a gem.
We went here for my birthday earlier in the week and loved it so much we took my parents 4 days later! The food is amazing! The mac and cheese on the starter is the best mac and cheese I've ever had! I had it for my meal this visit! My husband loved the salmon and everyone else loved their dishes. The atmosphere is unique and inviting. It is not the bar scene but a lovely place for dinner and conversation. We will definitely become regulars!
