Delicious food, expensive but worth it
We visit a different restaurant every week. Soba was one of the finest dining experiences we’ve had in a long while. The food was spectacular. We can’t wait to go back.
Food was delish and the manager and our server Matt were very friendly and accommodating. Food was delish as always.
SOBA is always excellent and this time was no exception. We were seated in the stylish bar area and had an excellent waiter (Kirklyn). He was very attentive. We enjoyed cocktails, two fish entrees and a couple of appetisers. Everything was great. It is a bit pricey but worth it for a special treat.
Our party of seven visited SOBA for the first time to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday. Our start time was 8:45 pm on a Saturday evening, and the restaurant was full and had a great vibe. We ordered several small plates (sushi rolls, lettuce wraps, dumplings, crispy tofu, edamame) and another several large plates (fried rice, Korean chicken, pad thai, sashimi bi bim bop) for the table to share. Everything was delicious. There was a great selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks as well. Our waitress Emma was spectacular and capped off the perfect evening. I highly recommend this place.
I was able to secure a last minute reservation for a Saturday night and I’m glad I did! Soba did not disappoint. This was my first time at the restaurant, so I wanted to try a little bit of everything. From the sushi (spicy tuna roll) to the short rib spring rolls and Korean fried chicken, everything was flavorful, fresh, and thoroughly amazing. While individual entrees like the KFC were great, I highly recommend trying a little bit of everything Soba has to offer. You won’t regret it!
I’ve been down on Soba for a few years now. It was a shadow of its former self and seemed to lack direction. This meal marks a return to greatness. Every item and drink we ordered was excellent. Soba is back in the rotation!👍
Great chill evening catching up with friends. Food was outstanding, great place for sharing plates. Complimentary valet was very helpful.
We absolutely loved our meal. Fantastic atmosphere and service.
So pleased to see a non boring vegetarian sushi option, and the tofu is amazing!
Way overpriced for the quality of the food/drinks
Had a fabulous meal to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Soba is my favorite Pittsburgh restaurant. Everything is always so good. Love the crispy tofu and tuna tartare.
We have been going to Soba for years and was always great atmosphere and food. The atmospheric was great and so was the service. The sushi was fresh and tasted like it has in the past. The small plates we got were very spicy and all you could taste was red pepper and green onion. I like spice but not to the point that’s all I taste and I have to keep drinking water. The mushroom fried rice was a bit spicy but the tempura was not edible. Disappointed with the food not sure what happened !
First date out in over a year! And no better restaurant to "come out" to than Soba. We were enticed by the Songkran menu. The food was very good, but only a bit salty. Our server Matthew was excellent. Thanks for being awesome, Big Burrito!
Love this place!
Felt like the place was understaffed for the numbers of guests.
Great place for date night and great food. Service is outstanding!
The music was way too loud. I asked for my salmon to be medium well & it was well done.
Lovely dining experience. Food was delicious and service great.
Great date spot!
Really fantastic food and very accommodating for vegan options!
I had the pad Thai which I love, but was a bit disappointed this time. I believe the sauce was different and not as tasty.
Amazing atmosphere, the staff was friendly and upbeat. The food is always amazing!!
The service was on the slow side, especially for the cocktail order. I did not care for the two maki rolls we had, the rest of the food was good.
Food is excellent. Restaurant is starting to get a bit dated, both in terms of appearance and the choice of menu items.
Came to Soba for our anniversary with very high hopes. Between 2 people, spent roughly $100 on food. While the service was very good, the food was not. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. The appetizers we got were the crispy peanut tofu which was solid but had a very sharp smell. The rock shrimp was also not bad but came sitting in a puddle of oil. For our entrees we ordered the pad thai for $20+ and the Korean Fried Chicken which was even more. The food took a very very long time to come out. We never mentioned anything to the waitress but even she commented multiple times how long it was taking. When the food did come, it was a bit of a disappointment. The Korean fried chicken was so overcooked- my guess is it was left in the fryer way too long. The inside of the chicken was barely edible. The pad thai was slightly better but had a very bitter taste that pad thai doesn't traditionally have. There were also 2 shrimp, 2 small bits of chicken, 2 pieces of tofu and a heaping mound of bean sprouts and cilantro which was completely overwhelming and some needed to be removed. Overall, we came in with very high expectations and were very very very disappointed with the entrees, the wait time, and the overall experience. Probably would not recommend to a friend as prices were not consistent with the quality of food and attention to detail that we received.
This was our first inside dining experience in over 10 months. The food was excellent. The service level was adequate but not outstanding.
Another great experience at SOBA, with one notable exception. Nice & quiet, wonderful for an intimate dinner with friends or a date, food was exceptional, staff very professional. But. They now have this odd mask policy in place where guests are required to wear a mask at the table when service staff are also at the table. So every time your server comes to check on you, refill a drink, etc. you are required to put your mask back on. That's maybe a dozen times during a meal, and as it turns out it's very disruptive to the dining experience. I will not be returning to SOBA until this practice is discontinued.
I love this space! I took my friend out for her birthday. The waiter was awesome and the food was great. I don't mind paying more when the food quality justifies the cost.
My shaking beef was fabulous. Drinks were perfect and the service was great.
Delicious food and excellent service contributed to a lovely evening celebrating my birthday!!!!
This was my first dining experience in many months and Soba made it worthwhile. The food and service were great as always -- and they also did a great job with the socially distanced setup.
As always - excellent food, ambiance, drink selection. Great staff that makes you feel like you are in a special fun place. Covid safety is very good. One of the best Asian - fusion if not the best in the city. Great place for drinks normally , but restrictions are preventing that of course.
We had a girl’s night here to celebrate my sister’s birthday, and we had a wonderful experience at Soba.
We opted to order cocktails and small plates. We enjoyed the cucumber collins and green tea punch for cocktails and the dumplings, short rib egg rolls, salmon roll, California roll, rock shrimp tempura and chopped salad for dinner. It was really enjoyable to share and try alittle bit of everything. All of our food was super fresh and delicious, but my favorite dish was the short rib egg rolls.
The ambience is really nice-I love the casual, modern vibe. We received excellent service from the valet to the food, and we’ll definitely be back.
The food was delicious—every dish that we had, from appetizer to dessert, and THAT is really unusual.
The place to go for outstanding Asian fusion cuisine. The Thai duck and Korean fried chicken were delicious as was the crispy tofu appetizer.
Food was amazing as also. The service was terrible. I have been to multiple big burrito restaurants during this pandemic time and have never felt so uncomfortable as I did this evening at soba. The waitress made us feel as if we were all sitting there contaminated and could barely even serve us. I had to ask for water multiple times and when she finally brought it it was a she was completely disgusted that we would even ask for water. This is never been the case at any bigburrito group including soba which I have been to multiple times in the last couple months. It was very disappointing.
Superb as usual!
Have always wanted to try Soba, but left confused on what the fuss is about. The sushi was not very fresh and was very overpriced. The beer was room temperature. Their cocktails were very good, but because of the quality of the sushi and appetizers we had ordered, we left before even ordering main dishes.
We love Sobas!
