Birthday. Party for our 24 years old daughter was great fun. Delicious cocktails, excellent dishes better than ever food, seems to be improving even after all these years. Have been coming here since it opened over 20 years. Loving it every time.

Food was good but they are amiss bringing all the small plates out at the same time. Usually small plates come out one at a time so you can enjoy them while they are hot and graze. Lettuce wrap was super spicy and it took the waiter a long time to bring me water. My husband was about to get up and find water. This is Covid time and they sat us upstairs in what I guess they could call outdoor seating, was super hot the moment we walked into the space from the heat of the day burning down and I sat the whole time with the sun shining on me. They had curtains but more for the cold as they had windows in them. They knew I was uncomfortable but did not care, somehow they could have put up something over the window part of the curtain. We were given choice of two places to sit, choose one, thought it would be better away from the sun but was not so we moved to the other offered. They never cleaned the seats we sat at.

Soba felt very safe and clean. The patio is perfect for those who want to eat at a restaurant, but still be outside. So happy with the experience and can’t wait to return.

One of the reasons we love this restaurant is because we love the very cool vibe in the bar. We were extremely surprised to learn that we couldn’t go into the bar to have a drink before dinner unless we stayed there and ate dinner at the bar. We were told that that they would have to re-sanitize when we left the bar after drinks to go to our table. The cost/benefit of having to do this seems to tip heavily toward the customer experience rather than the inconvenience of having to re-sanitize. It has been our experience that this is the only restaurant group in Pittsburgh that has this rule.

First dining in venture during COVID-19 green phase. Appreciated being seated outside since that was the only way we felt comfortable going to the restaurant. Many thanks to Jeffrey the GM for his help with that! Service was friendly and efficient. Food great as always. Never disappointed in Soba!

I have always been a fan of Big Burrito restaurants and recommend them often. My dinner on Saturday, June 20, was disappointing. I selected the Shaking Beef entree, the most expensive dish on the menu. From past experiences, I know that entrees always include several tasty additions and flavorful sauces. My date's salmon entree, for example, included asparagus, bok choy, and an avocado puree.
My dish featured a large filet mignon, with little if any sauce, a handful of colorless arugula, and a flavorless tomato...with no dressing. I had to request some salt to make the tomato bearable.
Also, my reservation stated an outdoor seat, but I was seated inside. I did not raise the issue, as I was unsure of the covid-19 restrictions.
Overall, the service and atmosphere at Soba are always good.

It’s a favorite restaurant of ours , but service wasn’t great this time. Waited for drinks before and during meal... maybe they are just working out kinks of new WSU of doing things. The good was great though

Our server Denee was fantastic and the food was just as good! We chose many small plates to share and love the variety and good wine. Loved the fact we sat near the open window for a lovely breeze especially during the crazy pandemic. Tables spaced apart safely. Nice decor too. Our daughter was visiting from Brooklyn and loved it.

Second time being stuck with this totally innattentive waitress Kat - ordered the seared rare tuna and requested rare plus- came out as per menu dessciption- too rare for us and not made to our request. When Kat finally decided to flit by to check 15 minutes had elapsed. We asked if it could be cooked slightly more- 25 minutes later she is strolling by and I ask her where the tuna is and she nonchalantly replies that it should be done soon. I tell her it should have been done 20 minutes ago and to get it now- it was totally over cooked and inedible. Unfortunately Kat avoided our table yet again giving us little opportunity to even ask for another one to be cooked. She made no offer to fix anything. If I ever go back to Soba I am definitely requesting no Kat!! Loved the calamari!

Great meal pre theater. Enjoyed a shushing bowl, steamed gyoza & black cod. Great items to share. Loved mixture of fishes, avocado & rice with tasty sauce. The homemade gyoza had another delicious sauce. The farro under the black cod was a nice departure from the typical Asian rices.
We enjoyed the cocktails too. I had the lemony Corpse Reviver & he had 2 different bourbon drinks that were nice & mellow.
Service was speedy yet gracious. Highly recommend this long standing establishment.

A favorite place to visit
it was a quiet night except for the one table next to us!
Our server was Brian & he was very good with everything - we remember him from other visits! He knows the restaurant, drinks & food menu well - made suggestions we were happy to try.
Timed everything so we could relax & enjoy drinks & appetizers before our entrees.
We very much like Soba & will return often!

Perfectly fit the description and fulfilled all my expectations. This casual but chic restaurant delivered very good food in a diverse menu that can appeal to anyone. The service was friendly and attentive without being overwhelming. The décor is in an Asian (Japanese) style that works well.

Our server was lovely. However two issues. One is still when I order a cocktail it can take up to half an hour to get it. Second the food is just not as good as it used to be. We ordered salmon. It was served totally raw. We sent it back asking for it to be well done and it was still partly raw. The tofu appetizer used to be delicate little cubes. Now it is giant chunks. We ordered dumplings and got less than 6 as previously. Although we still enjoy it is is just not as good.
They need to pay more attention to detail.
Also they eliminated the two booths on 3, my favorite place to sit!
