Took my wife for a surprise birthday dinner. She said it was quite possibly her most favorite restaurant! The food was phenomenal!
My girlfriend and I are here and we’re very pleased with the service. The menu is small, but delicious. We had the cheese platter, loved every cheese!
We went for Father's Day brunch and had an enjoyable experience. Food was very good and our server was attentive and on top of things. Everything on the buffet was great and there items on the menu from the kitchen were excellent.
They do their prime well, the small plates were unique and perfectly sized and quite tasty. While we had a reservation, we were still required to wait as our table had not emptied-and then to “seat us on time” we were shuffled to the back bar area-not as nice as the up or middle ambiance. Overall worth trying
RE: BRUNCH - Seated in lobby area which was disappointing. The brunch menu never changes. Same stuff. However, Smyth does put some effort to switch up the “off the menu” brunch selections. I just wish they’d get creative with their standard brunch selections - run of the mill
I'd have to say our experience was great all the way up to the point when we received our bill.
Their gratuity policy is complete garbage. Prior to dinner we had cocktails at the bar, when we received our bill they had added a 20% gratuity (bar tab), there were six of us and we had 1 drink each. I've NEVER been to a bar where they charge an automatic gratuity to a bar tab.
Now to dinner, the same policy applied, which for dinner is acceptable to place an automatic gratuity for 6 or more customers. That was not the issue for the dinner bill, the issue is that the automatic gratuity applied to two bottles of wine. Each bottle was $88.00, total for two bottles $176.00 in which they charge a 20% gratuity! So essentially it cost me $35.00 for them to open the bottles. I have NEVER been charged an automatic gratuity of 20% on wine with dinner. That is outrageous and that is why I will Never dine with Smyth again.
The dinner bill turned an enjoyable night into a bitter one.
Now ambiance similar to the hotel. We looked the appetizer but the entrees (steaks: sirloin and tenderloin) were poorly executed. Price with drinks and tips was on the high side @ 170.
The only flaw that I found was paying $8 to park my car exactly where I left it right at the bottom of the stairs.
Good food, great service, and fantastic decor. Excellent experience overall.
Had made reservations noting it was an anniversary. No mention of it from the server or manager. Food choices are very limited on the menu, although when asked for something different, our server made the effort to speak with the chef and was able to accommodate. Portion sizes were modest and all orders are ala carte, but the food was fresh tasting and good. Salmon was added to the salad but the server didn’t ask how well done we preferred it. The fish was served medium rare. Not my wife’s preference. Overall not the experience I would choose for a special occasion.
Enjoyed our lunch but it was very noisy. Too noisy for us to hear each other at the table.
Great Mother’s Day Brunch but I think it should be $10 cheaper
It was so amazing and our waiter was very kind and would tell all my friends
After waiting 15 minutes to be recognized by the valet attendant, he parked the car 3 blocks away. The food was exquisite. Our waiter was very nice, however I asked him 3 times to clear the dirty dishes away. If a tip is going to be automatically put on the bill, the service needs to be impeccable. The only job he has to do is to serve drinks, and clear dishes. $36.+ tip is a very nice wage for taking care of 6 people. I could have debated the tip but did not want to make a scene in front of my family.
Probably would have been better if we would have came earlier. We came for a late Brunch and the food was so-so. Seemed like it had been out for awhile. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The value was not equal to the quality. Little pricey for mediocre food. $33 per person. On the plus side it does include 3 mimosas per person and the ambiance was cool. We did put on our reservation that we were celebrating our birthdays, but no mention of that was made during our visit.
The Brunch is one of the best around and I drive the 2 hour round trip several times a year. There is a buffet area with omelet, ham and prime rib station and an assortment of pastry and desert dishes and chafing dishes with eggs, crepes, bacon, sausage, potatoes, ribs, smoked salmon and cheese platers. There is a kitchen menu which had crab Benedict, red velvet pancakes, biscuits and gravy (this menu changes) All the food is top notch and delicious and mimosas are almost bottomless.
Overpriced!! The menu is extremely small and they ran out of certain items. You'd think with such a limited menu they would Blow away what they do serve. The chicken dish ( entree size but very small serving) was dry & tasteless and had to be sent back.
They asked if we would like bread- we said yes and when the bill came we found out it was $7.00 for a small baguette and butter.
Everything is al a carte... main entree dishes are extremely small and don't even come with a salad or vegetable or starch side. This would all be ok but when you pay $30.00 for a small piece of fish & then have to order a side of fries so your full is ridiculous!!
No Vegetarian options at all!
Overpriced and under delivers
Food presentations were really very nice, the food itself was good, but not great. Server always seemed to be in a big hurry, like we were holding her up from something.
Amazing food and place!
We came on a snowy day for Brunch in April. There were 4 of us and we were celebrating
actually Christmas. (Date was first available for us) So the snow coming down was appropriate. Food was quite good. Ambiance nice. No rush for eating or staying. Staff attentive but now overbearing. Only downside was coffee. Should have a pot on the table. Did not stay warm in the cup. Will come back.
Food was very good. Had the special for the night, tenderloin and mashed potatoes but did not come with anything else, not even bread, had to pay extra for that. So for $45 a plate was not worth the money.
Creative, delicious menu choices. Love the atmosphere.
Best meal we have had at smyth
Service always great
Everything was perfect. Our server, our food and the atmosphere.
We dropped in for a late brunch. I recommend making a reservation during peak time. The menu except for a few features is all buffet, and probably would have been better fresh. Our server was great! He kept my mimosas flowing. Overall happy, but did not meet our expectations for the normal reputation! We will be back for dinner sometime.
Great service, nice seating, tasty food. Valet service should be free.
Outstanding brunch and great location to celebrate the holidays. Wonderful service.
Easter brunch at Smyth was delicious! We all enjoyed the variety of food choices in the buffet and everything was prepared and presented well. It was a bit more expensive than I thought it would be, however. I’m not sure that we each had $50 worth of brunch food. Would dine there again, if given the chance.
Had a great time at Smyth! Went for my moms birthday and was there with the whole family, all 6 of us. Excellent service in the restaurant, but the bar lounge service was definitely lacking. Overall, 8/10, would recommend.
Wonderful as usual.
Great food, excellent atmosphere and great service.
This was roughly our 10th time to Smyth since the they opened. Other experiences have been hit-or-miss: Great ambiance, but mediocre food one time. The next time, food was wonderful, service was 'meh'...Such a wonderful building and vibe, we just had to keep giving Smyth a chance year after year, hoping that we would love it as much as we wanted to! This time we were pleasantly surprised with all aspects of our meal/experience. Decor and ambiance were terrific as usual. We had a thoughtful, competent server who managed to convey a dry sense of humor without being snarky & condescending - and who actually checked back multiple times throughout our meal to find out how we were doing and what he could bring us (!!). The brunch items were all beautifully laid out, re-stocked immediately when they ran low, kept warm as needed, and all tasted great. We were impressed by the thoughtfulness of the menu. The lemon ricotta crepes and local bacon were standouts, and my husband ordered TWO orders of biscuits with gravy off the menu (they were THAT good!). We would recommend Sunday brunch at Smyth to anyone!
Loved the food but felt the portions were small for the money
This was our first time to the Sunday brunch at Smyth and I was looking forward to it based on the menu, the reviews and what other people had said. Unfortunately, we were disappointed, mainly because a number of the food items were unavailable by the time we wanted them. The brunch was advertised for 10-2, so with a 12 o'clock booking, we fully expected a full range of items, but unfortunately, there was not. It seemed after 12 o'clock food items were not replenished. They had run out of crab cakes (so the crab eggs benedict was a regular one), the smoked salmon and most of the deserts. By the time we got to desert (about 1pm) all that was left were muffins and fruit/granola parfaits. I still liked Smyth for brunch, but I would advise anyone going to make sure they got there well before 12 to get the full range of food.
Really cool space and the food was really good. We shared a bunch of starters and it was perfect.
We had brunch and it was excellent!! Everything was delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for a Sunday morning or anytime actually! Service was friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The smoked salmon was so good. Mimosas were delightful and you get 3 with your brunch. I can’t say enough great things! I’ll be back I just wish it was next weekend already!
Everything was amazing and the waitress was fantastic! Only complaint was the food took forever! Besides that it was an overall memorable experience.
-Also they should provide complimentary bread. They should also have more options for side dishes.
The food was amazing, the ambiance of the entire restaurant went well with the menu. The brunch wasn't just buffet style, they made fresh small plates that are well prepared and done in a timely manner, the service was on time friendly well versed in what the specials are and enjoyed there job.... One of the best Brunches I have had in years. Will go back on a regular basis.
We were celebrating a birthday and unfortunately caught Smyth on a bad night. The hotel was holding a tattoo "fest" in the lobby that evening. There were several woman wearing little to no clothing (including one in a G-String thong bottom and see though body stocking top) parading through the restaurant that evening. While distracting that wasn't the biggest issue with the evening. There was a live band in the lobby that started shortly after 8 PM. It was next to impossible to hold a conversation with the person across the table once the music started. I feel the restaurant should have called and provided us with notice that this event was happening as we would have switched to a different location to enjoy the visit with our out of town guests.
