About Smuggler's Inn
Originally established in 1967, Smuggler's Inn has been serving Alberta prime rib to several generations. Always a popular place for Calgarians to gather and celebrate, we are the preferred dining choice for birthdays, anniversaries, milestones or just meeting friends and family. Our prime rib is the main feature of our diverse menu, available all day, every day any way you like it. From a 9oz. prime rib sandwich, all the way up to a 48oz cut, our succulent prime rib is sure to please any appetite. Cajun blackened is always a popular choice, as is adding a lobster tail or side of garlic shrimp. Of course there is a creative selection of steaks, chicken and seafood to satisfy everyone. With a soup and salad bar included with every entree, not many guests leave hungry, but it would be a great idea if you saved room for one of our delicious desserts...even if you plan on sharing.

Smuggler's Inn Ratings and Reviews
Four of us went for brunch on a Saturday. Very nice selection of hot and cold food items, as well as a great dessert selection. Started with breakfast regulars (waffles, bacon, sausage, real chunky potato hash browns and yummy eggs benny) and moved to lunch and sweets (creme brûlée, Flan, butter tarts, cheese cake, cookies, choc cake...oh and whipped cream!!). Omlette-station lady was great...so friendly and accommodating!! And who doesn't love a huge bowl of whipped cream, with waffles, cakes, in coffee!!
It is a buffet so most hot food does sit in warmers, but all items we had were fresh and replenished quickly. Basically one meal and done for the day...so much food!!
Senior discount for those 65 and more life-experienced.
Filling this in is a waste of time. I left a polite detailed message of the meal I had 3 weeks ago at Smugglers and even left my number in hopes of hearing a response. I wasn't looking for anything free or money back but having been a long time customer of Smugglers I somewhat expected some response.
Smugglers is my favourite place for prime rib. My wife and I both had prime rib but it was really quite under-done as opposed to what we had requested. My brother had ordered bison and was very happy with his meal.
We have been to Smugglers many times over the last 20 years and know that there can be "ups and downs" with their meals. However that has not deterred us from attending there on occasion and certainly this mediocre experience will not either.
Good service and my teriyaki steak was excellent. However, my mom's pot roast was inedible due to beef that was like shoe leather. The waiter brought some new meat, but it was not much better. Perhaps just an off night as I expect more from this favorite place of mine.
While the food and service are decent value for a brunch, the ambience at Smuggler's needs a significant overhaul. The room feels dark and heavy, and the chairs are ridiculously huge and awkward, leaving diners quite far apart from their companions. Let the '70s and '80s go, and create a room that is comfortable, less crowded, and inviting, and we might come back!
Nice evening catching up with an out of town friend. Great service. Our table was waiting for us and we were seated immidiately. Our waitress was attentive and informative. Love the salad and soup bar. Meal was good but not outstanding. A staple for family meals in our family for decades.
They have my favourite portion size here: gigantic. I thought I would order the pot roast from their light menu as I had eaten a little bit prior, but it was still a generous amount that I could not end up finishing. It's quaint, cozy, and lively with all the chatter. Great for a casual dinner with friends :)!
Very disappointed as we were seated by a larger group 2 feet between, there was no bread or app and we had to ask if the escargot came with bread. Bread so small hard to share with 2. Salad bar disgusting , lettuce wilted..Steak was tender but Meal was cold. Asked for bill and waitress said be right back with the machine. 20 minutes later she comes with mud pie ..we did not know about and were already to pay and get out, would not recommend.
Unfortunately I went to this restaurant years ago and it was the best now my opinion it is one of the worst!
Smuggler's can always be counted on for excellent, consistanly high quality food and service. Amy does an absolutely fabulous job and makes me feel very confident that my guests are going to enjoy their experience. Kevin and the rest of the staff are always extremely friendly and always have a smile when they greet you. Still the best!
I have been enjoying Smugglers for 30 years, I usually eat there around 3 times a year. Everything went great for our business lunch BUT I experienced my first bad steak I've ever had there. It was so tough I struggled to chew through it and unfortunately I was hosting and didn't want to express my concerns in fear of it reflecting on the atmosphere of the celebration. I had the steak sandwich Medium Rare, others at our table had the fish and said t was great.
Wonderful place for brunch. Plenty of different options available and you won't leave hungry.
The only thing is it was a little quiet, and I thought some louder background music would be nice to impede the ambiance. Especially when you sit in an area with no windows.
Disappointed. Salad bar was very empty for the whole hour we were there. Two lettuce bowls were empty , veggies and ham were empty. One single bun sat the whole time we were there, bread was never filled, we waited. My side was cold and bland, I wasn’t offered a different side. Just whole thing was disappointing.
