About Smuggler's Inn
Originally established in 1967, Smuggler's Inn has been serving Alberta prime rib to several generations. Always a popular place for Calgarians to gather and celebrate, we are the preferred dining choice for birthdays, anniversaries, milestones or just meeting friends and family. Our prime rib is the main feature of our diverse menu, available all day, every day any way you like it. From a 9oz. prime rib sandwich, all the way up to a 48oz cut, our succulent prime rib is sure to please any appetite. Cajun blackened is always a popular choice, as is adding a lobster tail or side of garlic shrimp. Of course there is a creative selection of steaks, chicken and seafood to satisfy everyone. With a soup and salad bar included with every entree, not many guests leave hungry, but it would be a great idea if you saved room for one of our delicious desserts...even if you plan on sharing.

Smuggler's Inn Ratings and Reviews
We were here for both Valentine's day and my wife's birthday. When we arrived we were greeted and taken to our seat fairly quickly. Our server was fantastic and attended to us quite often. Salad bar was good as usual and when our meal came it was cooked to perfection (prime rib - med rare and a Rib Eye steak medium well). It is not often that I can find anyone who is able to cook it this way. Mine was perfect. My wife enjoyed her prime rib and at the end of the meal they brought my wife a birthday dessert (Mud pie) and it hit the spot. Overall, we were happy with our experience and look forward in being back there again!
Our night was wonderful and our server was fabulous. The dinner was perfect in every way food was brought nice and hot and served well drinks were refilled without being asked. Everything about that night was perfect. could ask for a better place to have an anniversary dinner. Staff were amazing.
My wife and I both order filet. I ordered my steak well done fully expecting it to come undercooked with some pink. That is exactly how it came.
My wife wanted her steak with just a hint of pink and was convinced by the waiter to only order medium even after making it very clear multiple times how she wanted it cooked. Her filet came rubber raw and took three additional attempts to get it cooked. When finally cooked, the rest of her food was cold and I was already finished my meal. Not how we wanted to enjoy our 45th anniversary dinner. They did comp her entrée, but the joy of the evening was lost. The waiter seemed to try, but the kitchen did not comply.
We recently celebrated our grandson's birthday as well as another family member. Our server was terrific. She was patient when the little person spilled some of their drink and assisted us with extra napkins or special requests to ensure certain foods were prepared as ordered. I thank the kitchen staff for respecting special dietary requests.
It was a great evening. Thank You for making it special for everyone.
Unfortunately, the soups were not very good this time around, plus the bread & buns were stale.
I took my ribs home w/o looking or sampling them & was very sad to taste & find out, they were terribly overcooked & not w/ much sauce (which could’ve burned off in the obvious overcooking).
Those is our favorite place for a streak/ prime rob dinner. Our waitress was on the ball and very friendly. Actually all the staff eye great. Prefer this over the keg any day (price is almost the same for a prime rib, and it included a salad and soup bar. )
Loved the fact there was a salad bar, don't see them anymore anywhere. Could have had a few meat elements though. Access to the salad bar wasn't the best but because we didn't arrive during the dinner crunch it wasn't a congested corridor. Absolutely fantastic bison sirloin steak, best I've ever had. The potato was a disappointment considering the cost. The accompaniments would have been better to be able to self serve out of a small tray of selected items rather than the server put them on. Also, the fact that my wife is allergic to broccoli and when a substitute of carrot was asked for and not available or allowed was very disappointing. Then to offer only asparagus only but we would have to pay extra for it was a total turnoff. What kitchen couldn't or wouldn't want to allow for an alternative? But, the dessert I had was quite delicious. The server was attentive, friendly, but maybe because the shift may have just started it felt like he was missing some of his serving etiquette no offer of tea or coffee, something just felt off. Oh, the original chair I sat in was very uncomfortable in the upper back, had to change chairs. The bison, salad bar and dessert were the highlights and will probably entice me to go back for another round with a guest from out of town just because I want him to try the bison. Because of there location the menu over all is quite pricey but if I didn't like it after looking at it online,
I shouldn't have gone.
We went for my boyfriend’s birthday and our server, Michelle was very nice and accommodating. I phoned in ahead to request for a cake with my boyfriend’s name written with chocolate syrup on the plate. They did a wonderful job! Overall, my boyfriend and I had such a lovely dinner. Food was as always, amazing!
4 of us met for dinner. Table was in a great spot (in the far corner past the salad bar). Emily was our waitress and she was excellent. She looked after us very well and was very good at timing the various aspects of our dinner, as well as checking to see if things were 'as they should be'.
3 of us had the prime rib and fully enjoyed it. We ordered it medium rare, but Emily point out that medium on the prime rib was equal to medium rare. That was a good suggestion from her.
Salad bar was very good, enjoyed the soup and variety of items for the salad plate. The broccoli could have been cooked a bit more for my liking as the stems were a bit hard to chew. Overall it was a very good night and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Smugglers is looking tired and needs a face lift. The salad bar is not worth the trip although my fellow diners did like the soup. Portions are way too large but unless the price is lowered to match smaller portions it would be overpriced, so I guess that means you can have left overs. It’s been ages since I was there and it hasn’t changed a bit although presentation is sloppy. The mains still taste delicious though.
