Smokin' Betty's Ratings and Reviews
The only downfall was that our waitress was also bartending in the other room and we were out of her sight. She was unable to check on us throughout the meal and we had to flag down bussers for extra napkins and drink refills. Other than that, the food was delicious as always.
Went for a pre-theatre dinner with a group of friends at the Forrest Theatre right around the corner. Great selection of food, service and atmosphere vibrant. Busy Friday night but they did hurry it up when we told them we had an 8 pm show to get to. We would definitely go there again.
I had some friends in town for the weekend and wanted a casual last minute reservation. The food was not good and the service was even worse. I wouldn't come back here or recommend to a friend. The only good part was that it was cheap. Otherwise go somewhere else.
The brunch menu was very reasonably priced. My dining companion’s pancakes were HUGE!!! They were busy and the waitress seemed a little overwhelmed with the number of tables they gave her at all once — it was Super Bowl Sunday. But the place was warm, great atmosphere, and prices are good, especially considering the quality of the food. I would like to return on a weekend without a holiday.
Food and service were great as always. Don’t know what S. B. can do, but even though they have a pre-entry canopy, too many folks held the inner and outer doors open at the same time! We were seated fairly close to the door and got a shot of very cold air each time!
We went for brunch to celebrate my birthday and I just have to stop having a birthday during Restaurant Week - it was beyond "energetic" and the table we were seated at was in the middle of the restaurant between two parties.
Apart from that, it was great - our waitress was energetic (in a good way) and friendly and did a great job taking care of us and of course, the food was great (and plenty!)
Our waitress had no idea what she was doing and the rest of the wait staff seemed as inexperienced and unprofessional. From the moment we arrived to when we left she was dropping things, forgetting any requests, and even got the entree order completely wrong for one of my friends. The food and ambiance was good, but not good enough to risk another negative experience.
We were excited to try Smokin' Bettys with a diverse group (adults, teens, and my parents) for my husband's birthday. We got there early on a Saturday night (6:00) and they were out of one of the special beers listed on tap, out of one of the special appetizers listed on the board, and out of romaine lettuce for my daughter's caesar salad. The waiter was not particularly attentive and a actually a bit snarky. The food was good, but nothing amazing. Even if it were just me and my husband, we won't be going back.
The place was so loud we could not have a conversation. The food was fine — I recommend the fish tacos — and priced right; however, green choices were very limited. The hosting service was poor but for our server, SETH, WAS OUTSTANDING. HE SAVED THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE FOR US.
We were looking for a nice place to eat within walking distance to the Walnut Street Theater, this fit the bill.
The signage is odd, we walked past the restaurant til we figured out where it was. Just on the corner of 11th & Samson.
We were greeted & seated right away.
Our server was very nice & efficient. The food was delicious and plentiful. I’ll definitely go back.
Would say the happy hour menu was great, and overall pricing was good. Food was not as good as I was hoping for, I’ve had better BBQ. Also, it was busy, but not packed, and it was even too noisy for us. Can’t imagine how loud it would be with a full house. Service was very good, and food came very quickly, which was good because we had an event to attend and didn’t have lots of time.
My friend and I went here for brunch. The server was nice and polite. My friend ordered the Betty’s breakfast burger but was brought the wrong burger. We told the server it was the wrong burger and he said he would go talk to the chef and bring the right one out. Then, not sure if it was the manager or chef, but short man in a plaid shirt came to our table and asked if there was “a problem with the burger.” My friend said yes and that there might have been a miscommunication but he was brought the wrong one. The manager or chef was very rude and instead of just apologizing for bringing the wrong order, he said “Well the other one is going to be more money.” We were obviously aware of the price since that is the burger we ordered and we felt offended that he thought we were trying to scam him for a couple dollars difference for a burger...This was not a big deal that he was given the wrong order but the way it was handled was incredibly poor. This was obviously their mistake and it seemed like they didn’t believe that my friend knew what he ordered. Safe to say, I will not be returning due to the unprofessional service and the food was only mediocre. No one even apologized.
