Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Philadelphia
With two floors and two bars there is plenty of room for happy hour after work, business lunches, group dinners, and special events. Come enjoy dinner with the family, the big game with friends, or many of Philadelphia's annual promotions.
This is a nice lunch spot for the area. Service was good. The ambiance is nice. I’ve had better Po’boy sandwiches.
Drinks were amazing. Food was subpar. I got the chicken wings and they were way over spiced and a little fatty. But the BBQ sauce that was served on the side was very good. It was sweeter than most sauces. Our waiter was also fantastic.
We waited an hour for our food. The people next to us, who came in after us, were served first. Our waiter never even apologized.
If you want delicious BBQ Smokin’ Betty has it. The rest was left to be desired. I made a reservation for 5 people on open table and said we were out to celebrate a birthday. The day of the reservation an employee called to confirm the reservation, which I did. When we arrived, 2 of the 5 people could no longer attend so we were a smaller party and yet they had no tables available for us? When I asked how long the wait would be, the hostess really wasn’t clear and never provided an estimate. I found the lack of understanding confusing, but they offered us seats in a separate room that were considered “bar tables”. Since we had a comedy show at 9:45 we agreed to sit in the bar area which was not nearly as exciting and well decorated as the main dining area. Being Philly sports fans, we asked the bartender if he could put on the Sixers game since sports were playing, just not Philly teams. He responded by saying he would have to go into the basement to change the channel. Again, I had no idea if that meant he was going to do it at some point, or what. After waiting 15 minutes for drinks I went back to the hostess to see if any tables cleared up in the main dining room because it felt as if the bartender wasn’t able to manage the tables in the “bar area”. The ironic part is, no one was actually sitting at the bar, only at a few tables near the bar? An older woman, who I am unsure her role at the restaurant, was trying to be accommodating and came in to get us waters and put in appetizer orders. When the bartender finally came over to us, his attitude was terrible. Never once did anyone at the restaurant recognize or say anything about the birthday we were there to celebrate. After dinner we asked for the dessert menu and the bartender said there were 2 choices and listed them. One was chocolate cake. My friend asked if the cake was any good and the only thing he could say was, “it’s chocolate cake”. We decided to pass. So the food was excellent, the rest not so much.
We always enjoy Smokin' Betty's for pre-theater dinner - the food is good; not exotic - just good, fresh food. Salad with chicken was great and HUGE! Short Rib Mac'n'cheese had my sister saying "best mac'n'cheese I ever had." Service was great and we will be back.
My husband, another couple and I had a delicious and delightful meal at Smokin' Betty's. I had no idea it existed, and found it thanks to OpenTable. We enjoyed chicken, ribs, beef, and a salad. I wish we'd had room for the bread pudding dessert. Next time! Huge portions at reasonable prices and a theater discount to boot! We'll definitely return.
Good drinks great food
This is our 2nd time here. Love the food and the feel. Everyone was super nice. A couple of excusable mistakes which were quickly remedied. The price was incredibly reasonable for a party of five.
Salmon and ribs were terrific. Delicious wines and beers were offered.
went for brunch at 11am on a Saturday- we had the daily omelet, the breakfast sandwich and scrambled Betty's breakfast. The portions were generous and food was delicious. Also had the Betty Bloody Mary's were were great! I would definitely recommend a reservation as there was a line when we left.
The waiters were extremely friendly and efficient. The food, which is very reasonably priced , was delicious. There were four of us and everyone really enjoyed their meals. We are now planning to go to Smokin’ Betty’s after every Walnut Street performance we attend.
Smokin Betty's is a good find. We like it especially when we attend a show at the Walnut Street Theater.
Reservations are a must, the place fills up quickly. The food is plentiful, very tasty. The choices are pub type food with a relaxed atmosphere. Our order took a bit longer than expected, just a busy evening. This is my second time at this restaurant and I would go again.
Bathrooms were dirty or not working
Our server was very attentive and had thorough knowledge of the menu. We were not rushed at all even though it was obviously peak brunch hours on a Saturday. Portions were incredible and the prices were almost too reasonable. We'll be back to try more of their brunch menu items soon!
Enjoyed the meal. Really nice staff. We would go back.
Our waiter was amazing, he was funny, kind, and gave great recommendations! Food was great, only complaint was that our table was next to the door and it was very cold outside (but some things are just out of our control)...
Food was outstanding we didn’t have one thing we didn’t like. There is so much more we would like to try, coming back soon for sure!
We went for my son’s 26th Birthday and had a fabulous brunch!
Slow service at brunch when the place was completely empty
Arrived early for reservation, but was able to be seated immediately in bar area. Excellent food and attentive service by bartender.
Food was great, and they had our table ready on time. Arrived an hour early because an event we were attending nearby ended early, so we had drinks at the upstairs bar while we waited. The places only flaw was the noise level, you're seated pretty close to other tables and in the open room it gets very loud.
Food is typical of cafeteria food. Service was spotty at best . One entree was salad said to contain pieces of chicken - there were three bits of chicken. Other entree was turkey platter - this was diner style serving with whipped sweet potatoes that tasted as if from can of pumpkin pie filling. Server never noted specials or soups until other diners came near us and we overheard those options. Wine list and tastes were pedestrian.
We had a fantastic experience at Smokin'Betty's. The atmosphere was very relaxing and inviting with lots of beautiful wood and warm lighting. The food was very good; the salmon was very tasty and moist and the ribs fell off the bone. Their menu has a nice variety to suit most tastes and I'm looking forward to trying some of the other dishes (if I'm able to tear myself away from the salmon!) Our waiter, Seth, was amazing; he could not do enough for us! He really made our experience over the top. Our busboy, Nick, was also super nice and very accommodating. We needed a favor since we were attending a show directly after dinner and they didn't bat an eye - Seth, and Nick, really know what customer service means to the extreme. They spoiled us! We were saying during dinner how we would definitely be back, and we will!
The menu looked great! And a few of the food runners were nice! But the hostess when we first arrived was kind of rude and seemed very overwhelmed (cursed a couple times right in front of us). I worked in a restaurant for several years so I get the brunch rush, but it definitely wasn't that busy. We were sat in the bar area high tops which was fine! But apparently wasn't fine with the bartender who started yelling in front of us at the hostess for seating his section (I guess he had a bunch of drink tickets and all the bar area high tops). It took him a long time to come over, which was fine we weren't in a rush - but just more worried if he was going to be made when he came over. He was pleasant directly to us during the meal, but started yelling at one of the other servers when they came back for drinks. I got a side with my sandwich that never came out, but honestly was not wanting to ask about it and make him more mad so I left it alone. Probably won't come back here - at least not for brunch, maybe for dinner!
Great food. Friendly staff. Big portions. Reasonable pricing. Highly recommend.
We picked this place after the tattoo convention and this was a great choice. The Philly cheesesteak rolls were DELICIOUS!!! it was so good we got 2 orders of it. LOL I had the short rib taco and that was soooo good. Everyone at dinner loved their meal. I even got dessert and that was great as well. I got the Nutella roll and that was a great balance of sweet and savory. I also had Mrs. Daly for a drink and that was great as well. Overall, this was nice place to eat with a great ambiance and delicious food. Definitely would go back.
Our first time and we will definitely be back. We both had huevos rancheros—delish. We would prefer one fewer tortilla and more beans and corn, but otherwise terrific flavor.
Yes, nice spot with good food. No flexibility with special menus.
This place was great! Really interesting food options, good beer menu, and nice vibe. The staff were attentive and kind.
We ate here prior to a show at the Walnut. They appeared to be short on wait staff. We couldn’t get any attention from the waiter and waited about 40 minutes for our food. When we finally got his attention and told him what time we needed to leave we got a snippy response that we would get our food when it came up. Food was great, but dessert had to be skipped. This was very disappointing and very different from our previous experience here.
We arrived on time for the reservation and had to wait nearly 30 min to be seated. The staff was not apologetic about the excessive wait, nor did they acknowledge it. Once we were seated, it took more than 15 min just to get our drinks. No one returned to take our order after we got our drinks, and eventually we realized we probably weren’t going to be waited on, so we actually had to go up to the bar to get the check. The service was just terrible, which is a shame because I have eaten here in the past and thought the food was good.
Restaurant was very busy and only had 1 bartender to cover all drink orders. We sat at the bar and the glasses were piling up. The bar tender was overwhelmed and could not keep with all the orders. He seemed too inexperienced for a Saturday night. I’ve been here before and this was not a good night the restaurant
A BBQ restaurant that runs out of ribs & BBQ chicken??? Sure it’s a busy Saturday night, but come on! Our server was very good, but it seems like more staff needed as busing & clearing tables took far too long.
We were 5 minutes late for an open table reservation (usually there is a 15 minute grace period with open table) and they gave our table away. It took 45 minutes to get another table and it was in the bar area. We had 2 hours before a show we had to get to thinking it would be plenty of time to eat but service was very slow too. Food finally arrived and we only had 10 minutes to eat before having to rush out to get to the show. We came here to celebrate a birthday, have a nice leisurely dinner but left very disappointed with the whole experience. Will not return. Do not recommend if you have to be somewhere at a certain time
There was some confusion at the hostess stand. We were told we were the first ones of our party to check-in which was inaccurate. We found the rest of our party and were ready to be seated at our reservation time only to be told it would be “a while” for a table. We were able to eat in the bar at a high top. This was fine. The bartender was our waiter. He did a fantastic job considering he was tending the entire bar and waiting the tables in the bar by himself. The food was delicious. With improved communication and additional employees assigned to the bar, this restaurant is sure to become a “five star” restaurant.
Food was good but it was really loud. Wait staff a bit slow, never came to see if we were okay when are meals were arrived. So never got a beer with my ribs disappointed. We would go back food was good
The food was very good. The spice level on the smoked items was just right. The smoked half chicken with the dry rub was tender. Order it with the sauce on the side to dip. The balsamic chicken was tender also. The glaze on that chicken was very smooth ( not spicy ). It enhanced the meat. The cup of chili had a very good spice level. The ala carte side items were a bit over priced.
Cozy, casual and fun atmosphere and great food. We made reservations for 5pm and was a good time to go because it was very crowded by the time we were done. Service was very good.
We really enjoyed Smokin Betty's. Great food and drinks. Great atmosphere and prices. Highly recommended. We will definitely be going back.
