Smithville Inn Ratings and Reviews
Meal was disappointing. It was good - not great for the price. Too heavy handed on the salad dressing. Prime rib was mediocre. Had to wait long time for our meals - may have been because they had a wedding going on - which was VERY loud. Not the romantic quiet evening we had hoped for.
NEVER disappointed at The Smithville--the food was really delicious, the staff was more than accomadating, really make you feel like everything is taken care of! We were celebrating my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and everything was just perfect, THANK YOU to everyone! ;-D
We went for our 22 wedding anniversary on November 4th...our server was Mike and he was outstanding !! We will definitely be back and we can not believe we have not been there before. Easley would recommend this place....loved it !!!
Thank you for a great night !!!
It's hard to beat the Smithville Inn for it's quaint and historic ambience. The Inn itself is wonderful, but the location within Smithville Village is also nice for strolling before or after dinner. Our party was pleased with their meal selections, which included the tasty, perfectly seasoned and meaty crab cakes, a very delectable and perfectly cooked prime rib, and the hearty bouillabaisse. Salads came with the entrees, but other than a substantial selection of dressings, they were nothing special. A warm apple dessert with carmel sauce in a crispy shell was recommended by the waiter. I think the attempt at creativity got in the way of taste. The shell was bland. A simple, well made, warm apple pie would have been much better. We have dined at the Smithville Inn on other occasions and looked forward to having a cup of one of the best coffees I have ever had in my life - Douwe Egberts. I was actually anticipating a cup from the time I made the reservation. It isn't served at many places, but the Inn WAS one of them. We were informed by the waiter and manager that it is no longer available which was a real disappointment. Our waiter was congenial and efficient, but as we have found with many young servers these days, they are very casual in their interactions with patrons. This may be an attempt at establishing a less stuffy, more friendly atmosphere or relationship, but it often makes me wince when referred to as "you guys" and asked "What can I get ya?" I must also mention the wonderful piano player who provides beautiful music to accompany your meal. Very nice! Very classy! A good time was had by all!
Visited the Smithville Inn on Sunday for lunch. We were seated promptly, and immediately welcomed by our server. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and very helpful. They came by proactively before we even needed to think of asking for anything. The food was amazing. Every one of us was thrilled with our meals. The child's menu is rather standard; our server helped us pair a soup and appetizer to create a more interesting choice for our child. Highly recommend. Portions were large, and prices were very reasonable, even when compared to other 'more casual' nearby choices. Looking forward to going back soon.
Went there for an anniversary dinner specifically for the Prime Rib. We have dined there previously and the prime rib was good. The prime rib on Saturday night was not at all tender. After dinner we ordered one of the desserts on the menu and the waiter came back and told us they had run out of that dessert. We ordered another dessert and once again the waiter came back and told us they'd had run out of this dessert. This was at 7:30 on a Saturday night.
Had a lovely brunch with a friend. Food is excellent. Service (Nick) was excellent. A large variety of dishes, all good. The omelette was fabulous. All of the serving dishes were always full, yet you didn't notice people filling them. A very classy operation. I've been to Smithville Inn many times and hope to go many times more.

Love the location of this place. Beautiful setting on the water. Love all the great shops. Reminds me of the shops in New Hope, PA. Very nice place with a lot to do and see. The brunch has a lot of choices, something for everyone. You definitely will not leave hungry! Leave lots of time to browse the cute and quaint little shops here! Great for a Christmas Shopping day! Start with brunch and leave with a few great stocking stuffers and gifts!
My wife when I first went here in 1974. At some point years later, it wasn’t what it used to be, but things have changed for the better. The inn is in very good shape, the bar area was great, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was wonderful. The owners circulated through the restaurant ensuring everyone was well taken care of And the service was phenomenal!
It was our anniversary and the hostess wished us Happy Anniversary as soon as she sat us. Out waiter greeted us with two glasses of champagne. We started our dinner with the delectable bread basket and salad. The citrus dressing was delicious. For dinner, I ordered organic chicken with stuffing and green beans, which was good, but I should have ordered the prime rib since that is what I originally had planed to get. The prime rib is always delicious and the Friday special makes it more desirable. My husband had the NY strip steak with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts, which was very good. Make sure you order the pumpkin martini, it delicious! Service was wonderful. The meals were substantial so we were too full to order dessert. We were surprised when we received our check, to see an anniversary discount. Overall the staff really went our of their way to make our anniversary special and they certainly did.
Brunch at the Smithville Inn was wonderful. There was a huge selection of all kinds of food, salads, and desserts. Everything was delicious and beautifully displayed. Staff were attentive, professional, and very pleasant. I strongly recommend this venue for brunch, lunch, or dinner!
I was fortunate enough to have been brought here as a guest for Sunday Brunch in 1988, and have been coming back with guest and family members ever since. The food and staff are fantastic. It's always a pleasure to be here. I would definitely recommend Sunday Brunch. If you don't feel like cooking for Thanksgiving, make reservations here. My family has been here to celebrate Thanksgiving multiple times, and it's always been a very pleasant meal and experience.
We went for lunch, for my sister's birthday. There were four of us in the party. We've been many times for their Sunday brunch (excellent) but never for lunch or dinner. Smithville had their annual Irish Festival that day, so we chose to get there early to avoid parking issues, and therefore picked the earlier lunch slot - 11:30. The restaurant wasn't crowded, and the server had plenty of time to explain the specials and answer questions about a couple of menu items. There were enough menu items that there was a good variety, but not too many. I'd give the fish -n- chips a 8/10 - I understand that it was lunch so I wouldn't expect a huge piece of fish. There were three small pieces, and therefore a high batter-to-fish ratio. Soup was great. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal, and none of us left hungry. No desserts to top off the tanks either, as we were too full. The view of a grassy area with bushes and mums was nice, as were the frolicking squirrels.
IT WAS VERY STRANGE. WE ARRIVED 1/2 HOUR EARLY AFTER ATTENDING OCTOBER FEST AT SMITHVILLE. LOOKED IN THE DINING ROOM AND SAW IT WAS LESS THEN 25% OCCUPIED. TRIED TO SIT AT THE BAR BUT MOST OF THE STOOLS WERE OCCUPIED WITH NON-PAYING PEOPLE. SO WE ASKED TO BE SEATED AND THE HOSTESS SAID THE TABLE WAS NOT READY AND THEY WERE OVER CROWDED. THEY MADE US WAIT TILL OUR SCHEDULED TIME. AFTER BEING SEATED IT TOOK 25 MINUTES TO EVEN SEE A WAITRESS. MAYBE THEY WERE SHORT STAFFED BUT I THINK THE NUMBERS OF WAIT STAFF EXCEEDED THE CUSTOMERS. I WAS THE NIGHT AUDITOR THERE IN THE 70'S AND WE LOVE THE PLACE. WE WILL GO BACK.
When I made the reservation, I was not aware of the limited menu for that day (Octoberfest), which would be fine, if it were indeed an Octoberfest menu. Maybe one or two items were, but that was it. I do like the Smithville Inn, so I would definitely go back, but first check if there would be a limited menu. By the way, nothing on the website or the Open Table site said it was an Octoberfest menu. I do want to say that the food was very good. Service was great also.
Had a great experience for the first Friday night Prime Rib special night with 2 friends. My dining companions both got the Prime Rib. It came with a small dinner salad, baked potato, green beans, Yorkshire Pudding & au jus. They both said the Prime Rib was tender & delicious.
I got the Broiled Rockfish that came on a bed of a vegetable ratatouille. Very tasty & the fish was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were also cooked just right & very good. It also came with the salad.
Mike Ryan, our wonderful server, was working the bar room that evening. We had requested him, as we always do, so opted to sit there for our dinner.
Mike was once again professional, warm & friendly. He anticipates our every need & never disappoints! We look forward to seeing him again on our next visit. Overall, another memorable meal at The Smithville Inn!
The Smithville Inn has been there since 1789. The atmosphere is ideal for and elegant dinner. The food was good, but the service was great. My only complaint is that after such a great meal, a cup of Earl Grey tea would be great, but the only tea available is Lipton. Valet parking is available if you choose not to walk across the street from the dirt lot. I would recommend the Smithville Inn for a romantic dinner or dinner with family and friends.
The service was very good we were seated immediately with our reservations and brought menus as well. Service was very good, never felt rushed, able to relax and enjoy the good food I personally had the chicken pot pie as recommended on your website and I was not sorry. Outstanding and I got 3 meals from the large portion served. My friends had salmon, which she ate all of and the other the stuffed pork and she said was excellent also. Look forward to dining there again soon.
We have been here many times and I always rate Smithhville higher than I am this time. We went for the last night of Friday Lobster dinner. I quests they had a ton of orders so they must have been making as many of them at a time as they could. My Lobster was over done and just a little warm, so was my wife's. Usually it's excellent and I'm sure next time it will be. But I wanted to be honest with my review.
Another great lobster dinner special here on a Friday night! Our lobsters were tasty as was the ear of corn & the baked potato that came with it. The dinner salad also was good.
Mike Ryan, our wonderful server, was great...as usual. He anticipated our every need and was friendly yet professional. Can't say enough about him! We always request Mike!
All in all, a good time and a great meal!
