Smithville Inn Ratings and Reviews
We had a special occasion dinner and dressed accordingly. It was surprising that other adults wore jeans and sneakers to such a lovely place. The hostess was very friendly as was our waitress. My husband’s dinner was excellent. However, he felt his drink was the worst Manhattan he had ever had. I suggested he send it back but was uncomfortable in doing so. My fillet was medium rare and completely dry. Not sure how that happened. The dessert and coffee were excellent.
Took my wife for late lunch she had turkey meal with potatoes and string beans I had filet tips with penne I thought my meal was great till I tasted hers and it was one of my best meals I have ever had and we go out to eat a lot . The Smithville inn is a traditional stop of ours on the way to atlantic city casino that will always continue.
I requested a seat at the bar and was seated there. Stephanie, the bartender was very attentive and cordial and professional. She allowed me to set my own pace for the meal. The chicken pie, their signature dish, was outstanding. It was loaded with large chunks of tender, juicy white meat and was pleasantly seasoned.
My husband and I went for Valentine's Day. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was very good. We liked the fact that the owner was approachable and checked in on us. We live nearby but had not visited the Inn in a long time. We plan on coming back very soon to enjoy another delicious meal.
Unfortunately, our high expectations were just not met. The food was mediocre at best, service was barely ok. Hubby had linquine and clams that was a very small portion and had only 10 tiny clams in a shell...what happened to a baker's dozen? The pork medallion dish had so many cut carrots on the plate it was ridiculous, and the meat was so dry I had to ask for some kind of sauce to put on the dish. Not impressed, would not return. Maybe it was the meals we choose, but we wouldn't want to find out.
My Husband and I and my Sister and Her Husband stayed in Galloway for the weekend. So happy we decided on the Smithville in for dinner it was so nice charming place. Enjoyed the music by the very talented piano player. The food was good the wait staff could not have been nicer. The Room with the Bar is very nice sorry we did not take the time to sit in there. I would definitely recommend the Smithville in.
Four of us visited for are twin daughters 23rd birthday lunch. It was really good! We were sat at a window table with a nice view. Waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was very good and I felt very reasonably priced. Same for the tap beer and wine. Overall a very nice experience.
The Smithville Inn has been doing Sunday brunches for years, and if anything, has gotten better every year. Everything imaginable is available including a carving station that is off the charts. The beef roast, which is described as a NY strip sirloin, is not only tender beyond belief but loaded with flavor. Everything presented is true gourmet quality and the service is second to none. I highly recommend the Smithville Inn for all of your dining needs including lunches and dinners. By the way, the owners are great also. You won't be disappointed.
We spent a relaxed Friday evening with each other and great food. The ultimate! Service was caring, quick and attentive...thank you Laura and the nice efficient man who keeps the table from getting cluttered! ( so sorry to have forgotten his name☹️). Also love the piano man! Our entire experience was a wonderful stress reducer and delicious besides!
We love Smithville Inn! The Sunday Brunch can't be beat. The staff is very accommodating, and they really care that their customers are enjoying their meal at the Inn. The food is high quality, the drink menu is excellent, and service is the best. And the ambiance is cozy and warm. This is one of our favorite restaurants in the world!
I’ve eaten here on many occasions, and today was my first disappointing experience. The young hostess (not the hostess I’ve seen here for years) told us that we would not be seated in the usual dining room overlooking the lake because that room was too cold. I can roll with that. What I couldn’t roll with was waiting for the table that was reserved for my party—we were ON TIME—after watching her escort the same-size party to a table just in front of us. Food was very good, but our waitress was mostly absent. I cannot blame that on the number of tables she was waiting, as ours was the only table in this smaller room she was serving, and the large dining room was closed, as already mentioned. She did not offer dessert. Just as well. Because she was slow, we could have been there all day.
This is our second visit for the Sunday brunch. The food has been very good both times. If you have mobility issues there are steps to navigate to get to the food. The omelet station and potato bar were both very good. I also like that they have creamed chipped beef, a bit salty but that's just about everywhere when you get it.
I hate to be negative but they have just the worst service! I thought maybe the first time was a fluke, but sadly no it's just awful service. Once you're seated your server may or may not bring your coffee and water. Refills? forget it. Clearing away dishes? forget it. I mean you literally have to try to flag someone down for a cup of coffee or just about anything. Then the poor young guy who poured me more coffee reached in front of my daughter to pour, she literally had to lean back so he wouldn't hit her in the face. I say poor because the servers who get the tips do nothing, this one guy is running around doing their job. They never ask if everything is okay or if you need anything else once you're seated. I just can't believe I even tipped on this service. I have to say both times it was the worst I think I've ever had while eating out.
Price is $30+tax+tip. Small Mimosa $2 extra.
My fiance and I love coming to the Smithville Inn whenever we can pull ourselves away from the "daily grind" of life! We escape and stay a couple days at the "Colonial Inn" Bed and Breakfast and ALWAYS have our dinner at the Smithville Inn. We were so lucky this time to have a WONDERFUL (and quite entertaining, as well!) waiter by the name of Mike Ryan. He not only was efficient and professional....but he was fun and had a great personality. Even though it was a busy evening for him as far as the number of tables he had to service, he was on the top of his game by making sure every one of our needs were met....and in a timely manner! We were extremely pleased with his service and will request that we sit with him again the next time we go. Additionally, we were there on a Wednesday night and were excited to see live music.....the jazz trio "In Trio" performed from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.....without any breaks! They were WONDERFUL! Their style of jazz was relaxing and quite enjoyable. Our only complaint was that we ordered the "Veal Parmesan" and it was not quite up to par. The veal was tough and the sauce was acidy. It almost seemed that it was not something that was made fresh....and that it had been made much earlier in the day and then heated up. But, I must say that the New England Corn Chowder and the salad....as well as the DELICIOUS Blue Cheese salad dressing.....were EXCELLENT! I wish I could have taken home a HUGE pot of the soup....it was that good!!! Our overall experience was an awesome one and we will be back again very, very soon!
We were at Smithville Inn for NYE with a group of people, the food was very good for most of the group, but someone had a problem with their fish. The manager came over at once and took the fish off the bill. We will go back to the restaurant whenever we can.
Because it was New Year's Eve there was a special menu which we didn't expect. All 4 of us were disappointed in our meals. My meal was veal milanse with arugala on top of it, no potato, rice or other veggie-for the price they charged I should have had something with it. Rack of Lamb was on the tough side. Shrimp cocktail included 3 shrimp for quite a high price. We have been to Smithville Inn several times before and always loved going there but not this time. Service was extremely slow. Pianist was excellent with great music choices.
Been to this restaurant many times for lunch an dinner. W e have never been disappointed in the food the service the atmosphere. The drinks are great. We were there New Years Eve for dinner which was great. The piano player was suburb!! We tell everyone we know about you and how much we love coming here.
