It was a wonderful experience . Food was delicious as always, server was fantastic . Love going to The Smithville is for dinner
Waiter Mike was amazing! Great food and great value.
We had a lovely meal The service was excellent. We were seated near the bar and it was quiet when we got there but the bar got crowded and noisy as the night went on.
Beautifully decorated comfortable dining room! We had the lunch special, and not only was everything delicious but the portions were big too! We will be back! 👍🏻
Great service and they don’t rush you. Very relaxing atmosphere.
Another outstanding meal with excellent service by Mike, our waiter. The Pork Chop Fromage didn’t disappoint the two of us who had it. There was nothing left of the steak that was on my sons plate. My wife’s scallops and risotto was perfect as was my daughters salmon.
It was our first time here. We enjoyed it! Would definitely return. Food and service or both marvelous.
My only concern is the wait staff are not wearing masks. I think during this pandemic since they talk to all patrons, they should wear masks for everyone’s safety.
Great food and environment!
The place was cold. The door was opened so many time from a baby shower and then a wedding set up. It was a frigid day. The food was really good.
Overall a good experience. Roasted butternut squash with burrata easily best salad I've had in forever. The Lamb chops were cooked perfectly but could have used some au jus. The potatoes were lukewarm. My wife's prime rib was good but a little undercooked for how she ordered it. Her baked potato likewise was warm not hot.
Ethan was a great server and the food was delicious!
Great service and great food. Always good.
Great dinner. Lovely atmosphere.
Will definitely be back
Great place to go for good food and service.
Absolutely wonderful… it always is!!! World class dining 5 minutes from home!! Doesn’t get any better!!!
Smithville Restaurant is a constant on wonderful food. Their specialty is Chicken Pot Pie...the best you will ever eat. A close second is Their Thanksgiving dinner.
We visit the Smithville Inn a few times a year as it's almost an hour away. We visit some shops then head in to the tavern area for dinner. Always a great staff, atmosphere is great and the food is always delicious.
Great Service. Good food. Tables very close together which made me uneasy during Covid. Music from wedding carried over into dining area. Nice night out.
Food was outstanding and service was fantastic. Waitress was Laura. Can't wait to go back.
Outstanding service and the food was delicious! A very nice restaurant
Bar with fireplace creates great atmosphere. Good food and great service.
It was our 43rd Anniversary and we had a wonderful meal as usual! I had the pork chop and my husband had the Chicken Milanese. I'm not a big pork chop eater but our waiter convinced me it was delicious and he was correct!
We love The Smithville Inn and come here for all our special occasions. You never, ever leave hungry! Staff is lovely, food is great and prices are reasonable in today's economy!
I've been going to Smiithville Inn for many, many years. Sat in high level last week and didn't care for it at all. Noise level mad it hard to talk at our table.
Great lunch with my Mom!
Love the ambiance of this place...the bar area with the large inviting fireplace, perfect on a cold winter's night, the formal dining room with mellow piano dinner music, excellent prime rib dinner! Valet parking & great service all around. We highly recommend it!
Everything about our experience was wonderful! And then it was off to shop at their great outdoor shops! All around Great Day!
Dinner was very good. Love the history. I appreciate that they kept my water glass full, along with my bar order. My holiday cocktail was so tasty I didn't switch over to wine.
We had a fabulous time @historicsmithvillenj . We started the New Year in the best way! First drinks at @fredandethels, then enjoyed the Christmas Light Show, and ended the night with dinner & cocktails at the @thesmithvilleinn
@pinktaurus and I def recommend the cocktail- Blueberry Winter Smash 🍸
The food was delicious🤩
The service was AMAZING!
The pianist sealed the evening! Big thank you to everyone for making our New Year's night amazing✨
New Year’s Dy with beloved neighbor was perfect! Gray service and the food, even better than always. Halibut special superb. Thank yo for the veggie substitution form peppers (not my fave) to sterling beans…fresh, and fabulous. Hubby had his usual and happy, happy, as did my pal, but, said even bettter than she had last month….kudos to whomever the chef was Jan 1!
Great Holiday get a way and a friendly colonial setting! Service was excellent.
Excellent dining experience. Beautiful restaurant and decor, friendly and attentive staff, and delicious food and drink menu.
Glad we made reservations. Busier than we thought it would be. The service was amazing. The soups were enjoyed by all. The prime rib sandwich was tender and moist.
We also enjoyed the alcoholic beverages. The Sugar Cookie Martini was awesome.
Enjoyed the light show at Smithville afterwards.
Happy New Year!!!!
As usual, food was outstanding. They seemed short staffed but it didn’t appear to affect service too bad. Overall another good dinner.
Over cooked roast beef in place of prime rib for prime rib sandwich, pot pie ridiculous price for what you receive, very dry inside.
Server asked what 3 of us would like to drink, skipped over the 4th. Water glasses never refilled, no bread to the table, wine glass refill came as we received check!
Totally not what expected for such great ambiance and top scale pricing.
If I could rate it 0 I would. We were so disappointed, our server was definitely in the wrong profession everything was a bother to her. We ordered 2 appetizers, a salad and entrees. She didn’t even bother to put bread on the table until right before our appetizers came out, we ordered the slab bacon which was good but the polenta it came with was not good and there was a burnt piece of rye toast as a garnish (very strange) I ordered surf and turf medium rare, it came out well done/burnt sent it back which I never do but at $48 it was not edible ….and the waitress was annoyed. The whole night was a waste of $175! Never going here again.
The semi-recent menu changes are a huge disappointment for quite some time (no corn relish and other fun accoutrements served with with bread? No fried tomato or lump crab appetizer?) and the absence of the live pianist is a bummer. I requested a window seat when I made reservations. That didn't happen even though the dining room was fairly empty than I have ever seen it.
Our server was terrible. She did not return even once to refill beverages or check on us, and we had to hunt her down when my son's order was wrong. He ordered off the kids' menu: mac and cheese with a side of broccoli. He was served penne pasta with butter? oil? and loads of pepper. We chopped up his broccoli to try and bribe him to eat the plain noodles (he really likes broccoli), but he wouldn't touch it. When we were finally able to get our server's attention, everyone was done their meal and leftovers were wrapped up because the busboy was absolutely incredible and attentive. Our server took away the plate of pasta and brought out mac and cheese (definitely Kraft dinner) -- but no broccoli. It wasn't even worth sending back again, so we just wrapped it to go.
Our entrées were good. The steaks were prepared correctly, potions were very large. The provolone cheese on the antipasto plate was soooo aged and delicious. My dad was raving about it. The cheesesteak egg rolls were fair. The sriracha ketchup was a nice touch!
I know times are tough, but this was meant to be a special night, and the service was just sooooo bad. We tipped 20%, and we didn't make any fuss, but these little details are what will probably stop us from making the one hour trek to visit our once favorite restaurant.
If we hadn't been with another couple we would have walked out. No one was wearing a mask in reception and no server was wearing a mask. Tables were close together, no regard for Covid. Many guests to Smithville are older and no level or protection was given. This is the first restaurant I have been to that was so lax. The food was great, the service was very good, but we will no longer come to Smithville or reccomend Smithville due to this issue.
My family and I love the Smithville Inn and have dined there for years. The only complaint I have about this experience is that OpenTable/the restaurant allowed me to make an 8:00pm reservation when they close at 8:00pm. I made this reservation a week ahead of time, but they waited to call me day of that I had change my reservation.
Smithville Inn is rated 4.6 stars by 3248 OpenTable diners.
