The wait between courses was very long. Other tables were served in a more timely matter. Our dirty dishes were not collected before other food was brought. We had to shove plates around and pile them up ourselves to make room. Our water glasses stayed empty until we asked for more. We sat for a long time waiting for our server to return and had to ask for boxes to take food home. The food was delicious and served hot, however the room was cold. We were there to celebrate a special birthday, good conversation helped make a disappointing experience bearable.
As always-a wonderful time!! Food excellent! Service is the best and the drinks were great.
Went to Sunday Brunch yesterday, and the food was fabulous. The waiters were very attentive with filling drinks and taking away empty plates, and the ambiance of looking over the lake was very nice. Would highly recommend to anyone wishing to attend the Sunday Brunch.
We loved our dinner and the view from the window with the sunset was breathtaking. We enjoyed our dinner very much! We had the Prime Rib and it was delicious. One serving was enough for two people. We will definitely be back!
We have always had great experiences at the Smithville Inn. However, on our last visit several things went wrong. We ordered oysters for our appetizer which came out completely burned. They ran out of the prime rib so we had to settle for something else. Our server did not tend to us as other servers have in the past. He kept on forgetting what we asked for and had us waiting a long time for the entire order throughout the dinner service.
Pricey fare for sure. My shortrib meal was flavorful but the pasta was dry and chewy. I go to the Inn several times a year and always get a good meal. Most of the time. Can't be perfect everytime I guess.
We go to Smithville often but, never ate at the Smithville in until tonight. I wish we would have tried it sooner! Everything was perfect, great food, great service, ambiance was outstanding as well. This will definitely become a regular spot for us. Highly recommend!.
Had a great Valentines Day dinner. I ordered a stuffed Italian pork chop that was so tender that I didn't need a meat knife which was a good thing because the waiter didn't bring one. Maybe he knew I wouldn't need one. The flavor and juiciness of the pork was outstanding and cooked perfectly. I hope they continue this item on their regular menu as it's a real winner. My bride of 56 years ordered shrimp and scallops. The shrimp were excellent but the scallops were only so so. All in all it was an excellent and enjoyable 5 star dinner. The Smithville Inn is a wonderfully run family restaurant with very caring hands on owners. You'll never go wrong dining here.
The prime rib was very tough and was supposed to be medium but came out rare and the baked potatoe was cold. For the price of this prime rib I expected a better cut of beef, very disappointed in this meal. I will not be going back.
Food was excellent. The Prime rib was what I always expected. The tuna was done to perfection and was mouthwatering. Excellent place. Dining the way it should be. Thank you.
Smithville Inn has incredible ambiance, like going back in time, but with an updated twist. The food on Valentine's Day was superior, and the service was unparalleled. I highly recommend the Smithville Inn to anyone who desires a true dining experience.
I LOVE SMITHVILLE INN AND SMITHVILLE. IT IS MY HOME AWAY FROM HOME.
Excellent experience all the way around.
First time having brunch there and they did not disappoint!!!
Food was delicious and we enjoyed listening to the excellent pianist.
Lovely place great ambiance. Wonderful for business dinners as well. Nice private rooms.
Visited on a quiet weeknight. The restaurant offered a special 3-course prix fixe menu that was a good value for the meat lovers in the group. Service could have been more attentive (one glass of wine didn’t arrive until the end of the meal). Overall a good meal in a nice atmosphere. Menu would benefit from the addition of a few vegetarian entrees.
Smithville Inn is one of my favorite places to be. Food, service and ambiance are excellent
My husband and I went here for our weekly date night. He ordered the New York strip and said it was the best meal he has ever had. I ordered the filet and wow! The service was great. They even had a jazz band come in. Great food, amazing food and we will definitely be coming back
Gourmet gluttony with $2 mimosas, breakfast, lunch or both, sugar, protein, starch, salt, you name it! I love the tables by the huge windows overlooking the garden, lawn and pond, right by the brunch buffet! Authentic antique ambiance is great! Not cheap but not killer either! Non-valet handicapped parking can be a bit of a walk. Many fine shops adjacent to walk off some of the calories and bloat! For the ladies, brassiere fittings at the Pink Corset across the drive are recommended.
We love coming to the Smithville Inn..however this time trying to get a reservation was told there was only a high top table left for 245 ..no biggie we like the place so we figured early dinner . We got there and there were literally about 2 other tables booked. Would have rather come a little later to enjoy the dinner menu. Lunch is ehh , oh and a little disappointed they no longer serve Douie Egbert coffee.
Wonderful food. Great cozy place on a cold night. Loved the entrees...food was excellent.
Food was delicious. Our server Mike was awesome. Personality and service was top notch.
It was our first time at the Smithville Inn and what an amazing experience! My husband and I were heading to A.C. for a couple days to celebrate our birthdays. I always wanted to go to the Inn but we wanted to wait until we were going to go to A.C. since it is fairly close. We had a pleasant, welcoming experience from the moment we walked in the door. While we were admiring the fireplace the manager was there adding more wood to the fire and he was telling us the story on how the fireplace was exactly replicated from another place that the owner fell in love with. He further went on explaining how all the little stores were brought here from various locations piece by piece. The stories were so captivating. The manager added to the overall beautiful experience we had. We were then seated in the porch area with the slate floors overlooking the lake with the geese. Perfect table! Even more perfect were the $2 mimosas being served with brunch! It was one of the best brunches we have ever been too. From the hot, freshly made waffles (served with warm syrup) to the mashed potato bar the selection was endless! I have been telling all our friends about this place, and everyone is excited to try it. Thank you Smithville Inn to the start of a wonderful mini vacation! Can't wait to come back!
Excellent Brunch with plenty of delicious options for everyone!
Food was amazing, great atmosphere. Server dave was great. There was a piano!
Service was terrible. Took 4 hours to from start to finish for a party of 7 people!?!? The sever was only concerned with her friend at the table next to ours. Server never came to take our drink order and just started with appetizer order. Took 30+ minutes to just get drinks. It was many of our party's first time there and our last unfortunately. Food was decent and deserts were great. Poor service can ruin a business.
It was a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely return on our next trip to NJ.
Had a great meal. Waiter was very friendly. One negative-I initially tried to phone my reservation & got an answering machine message. This left my reservation in doubt. I went online & made reservation. I didn't hear back from a live person until following day around noon.
I celebrated my Baby Shower at a Sunday Brunch 16 years ago. We have been back a number of times over the years for special occasions and celebrations and have never had a bad meal. Yesterday we took our 16 year old daughter and family members back to Smithville Inn for the Brunch (we came full circle). We had flowers delivered in advance, which the staff set out on the table before we entered the room. It was as beautiful and as delicious as I remembered! Thank you!!!
Great place for a birthday brunch! Room is beautiful and the service was great! Food was very good lots of good selections. Prime rib was excellent.
I always enjoy the food and service here. They sang happy birthday and gave me a free dessert! Mike our server was excellent!!
We very pleased with everything. Service, food and atmosphere.
Smithville Inn never fails to please. We went for the prix fixe meals - $20.19 per person, including a wide choice of soups or salads, the entrée and then a dessert. We ordered the calamari appetizer, which was cooked to perfection with 2 different sauces accompanying it - note that the portion on this appetizer was huge - for 2+ people. We ordered the spinach salad, which included cranberries and pine nuts with a delicious dressing. For the entrée, we had shrimp francaise with a rice pilaf and whole green beans. For dessert, choices were a cheese cake, chocolate cake, and their famous bread pudding with hard sauce.
went for happy hour and birthday dinner
unable to participate in happy hour due to not being able to sit at the bar because the few bar stools were taken
for dinner had to sit in bar area because the dining room wasn't open and only 2 servers were working
very disappointing visit for such a special occasion
One of my favorite restaurants. The brunch is outstanding! Sure to please
As always, the food, service, and ambiance was great. The brunch selections are numerous. The bloody Marys were great.
Smithville Inn is consistently outstanding! The Sunday brunch is the best in the state. Wide selection of foods, ranging from standard breakfast fare (including omelet bar) to prime rib to sushi and smoked salmon and everything in-between! The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant!
Love this place, a favorite when I am in the area or when I want a special evening with my beautiful wife
