We had great service and great suggestions from our server, whose name I believe was Alexa or Alexis. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in suggesting both wine and food selections. We loved the oysters, Malpeues and East Bay on the night we were there. However I thought they were overpriced. Bother the salads we had were exceptional. Being able to order a half portion is a fantastic option and one of the reasons I’d recommend Smith to family and friends. Our entrees were both delicious. Pickerel was slightly overlooked but well seasoned and presented. The star of the meal was the half chicken! Fabulous preparation, sous vide then crisped to perfection. I’d go back specifically for this dish. We chose chives mashed potatoes as a side to share....went well with the entries but nothing special and pricey for the portion. All in all we were very pleased with our anniversary dinner at Smith and would return.
Service was exceptional
Although we reserved two days in advance, we were seated at a small round table next the aisle. However, the service was excellent, as was the food. We shared the beet salad, the striploin steak special and had the toffee and date pudding for dessert. We’re happy they found a spot for us.
First time going to SMITH for dinner. We had a wonderful meal, the atmosphere was great, decorating was good. Our server was polite and friendly, very knowledgeable of the menu, and was very helpful as it was our first time being there.
Would recommend, very tasty, good value.
Great food, good atmosphere, super service. First time and will keep it in mind for our next dinner out. Really enjoyed dinner!
Met with colleagues for a business/social lunch. Atmosphere was bright and cheery, we were greeted upon entering restaurant area. Our server was polite and efficient. The menu selections were all tasty and filling.
First time to SMITH - what a find! Great food and lovely restaurant. The wait staff were knowledgeable about the dishes and very courteous and pleasant. Food was amazing! Everyone enjoyed their choices. Meals are large so we all shared which only increased the great time we had. Will definitely be going here again!
We went for brunch before the spa and it was excellent. The food was delicious and priced well. The sorbet mimosa was also very good. We will be back
File mignon was perfect. Beets side was boring. Humus was fine. and 2 glass of wine, total $105 + tip. We will save up some money, but will be back to try other parts of the menu. Very enjoyable atmosphere.
We really liked the vibe. The service from start to finish was well timed. Right on point all the way around. Menu was a la carte, which we enjoyed. Food was as ordered perfect. Definitely will go back.
Good food selections, good service, great ambience.
Smith has been amazing in the past... Tonight, it was passable. For the price, I expect amazing food.
The restaurant is very nice inside and we had great service. However, the food was disappointing. The beef tartare and chips and dip were overly salty. My husband had the mixed grill. The meat was dry and it was definitely not worth the $55 price tag. I had a salad which was average. Everything was way overpriced for below average food.
Like the ambiance and service but too many dinner options with meat . My girlfriend is a vegetarian and I eat very little meat. I found the menu very limited when it came to meals without meat . I was very difficult to decide on a meal because of these limited options .
Great food! Best Mac and cheese! Best burger! This was my 3 rd time there and it has never disappointed.
Amazing!! Our favorite restaurant in Winnipeg hands down! We go at least 3 times a year!! Best steak tartare in the city, and their beet side dish is amazing!!!
Very tasty and original, service was informative and friendly.
Summer time great place.Winter time, minus 40 ,parking problem.
Please, let us know during reservation about second and 4th level parking posibility.
NOT WHEN WE ARE ALREDY IN THE RESTOURANT!!!
Food was very good.Service very good. Background music was a bit loud with an obtrusive bass beat, as the restaurant filled up,this combined with people noise became quite unpleasant and we left as soon as possible.
It was our first-time going to Smiths and we will definitely be back. The food was amazing. The service was amazing. I was super impressed with the cleanliness and speed of service. Definitely...DEFINITELY will be back!
The food was great and the server was excellent. The only area of improvement that i would give is the way the tables were seated. There were 4 tables seated in a row, in an otherwise empty area. It was like family style dining.
We really enjoyed our food on New Years, everything tasted amazing but unfortunately our server didn’t attend to us much. Took quite awhile to take our orders or to get our bills when we were done and we were in a hurry.
Great evening, and superb food. Our server was friendly, attentive and accommodating. Drinks are overpriced though.
The NYE set menu was amazing. Probably the best ribbeye I have ever had.
We went for an early New Year’s Eve dinner. It was very expensive at $69 per person. The food was awful! My steak was cooked medium it medium well and had a lot of grizzle. My meringue dessert was soggy. My friends veal was not much better. It looked undercooked. Drinks were very expensive as well. We had 2 each and our bill was about $250. We will never go back.
We visited Smith for a girls night and enjoyed every aspect of our evening. The restaurant was beautiful and everything we ordered was fantastic. Our server made great recommendations as it was our first time visiting Smith. We shared appetizers, desert and wine and are already planning another visit for weekend brunch.
We love the hotel and the location at the Forks. We dined at the restaurant on two occasions. The first time was for our anniversary in mid December. The food was average, our winter salad made with chopped ice burg lettuce, with a few pieces already turning a rusty colour. The rest of the meal was okay but we didn't feel that the $110 bill represented good value. That particular night it was also very noisy in the restaurant.
A week later we decided to try again for lunch. Friends were visiting. The parking was a problem....the parade was full in spite of saying there were empty spots. There also was confusion about the hotel parking in the parade. The doorman indicated that we could park in the reserved hotel spaces if we were at the restaurant. However our server said no we couldn't. This time we sat in the Lounge. We preferred this seating. We ordered one of the daily specials, a crustless quiche. It was a disappointment. Basically the quiche was simply scrambled eggs with leeks and goat cheese. Again we didn't feel that we received value for our money, a $62 bill for 2 entrees and a single glass of beer.
The service on both occasions was very good.
We will stay at the hotel again but doubt if we will eat a meal at the restaurant, perhaps drinks in the lounge.
Smith restaurant made our anniversary that much more special. Our host guided us to our table and was very professional, while our waitress served us with such kindness. I was impressed by their local food options.
Very good atmosphere and great staff. Was there for the Christmas dinner buffet. Food was excellent except the turkey. VERY disappointed that the “roasted turkey” was a processed turkey log and not an actual roasted turkey for Christmas. It was very dry and no appetizing at all.
All the other food was great but the turkey is enough to question our decision to go back next Christmas.
Went to Smith for Christmas lunch. The food was amazing & the service outstanding!
Personally, I had the chicken pot pie & it was perfect. Also enjoyed the chocolate pate for dessert - absolutely yummy!
We’ll be back!
