Smith Bros. Steakhouse Tavern Ratings and Reviews
We were really excited to try this restaurant due to all the great reviews. It ended up costing us 250$ for 2 couples. Which we wouldn't mind if the portions were fair sized and the steak was really good. Unfortunately, the sirloins we ordered were all very chewy, the appetizer (Spinach and artichoke dip) was very bland, the main entree was very small, and the cheesecake was very yogurty and not at all like a cheesecake. The only good thing we enjoyed was the salad and the teriyaki pick up sticks. Our waitress, Stella, seemed very nice and helped us substitute for shrimp allergies (the only reason I tipped well was cause of her helpfulness). I'm not sure if it was because we ordered the special that the entree was so disappointing or if they were just having an off night on Valentines. Overall, we were very excited and ended up being very disappointed. We were going to recommend this place to our friends and family cause we were so sure it was going to be great but now we have decided not to.
This restaurant is definitely comparable to The Keg. Food wise and price wise . Pros for this restaurant , they take reservations on special occasions , food was excellent, option to do the complete meal which included your salad and a dessert was a great idea as well. On the downside , when ordering the complete or any meal for that matter the meal only comes with sides being 3 different forms of potato, fries , mashed or baked. The meal has no veggies . Limited options for the side being the 3 different versions of potatoes. Also limited options on dessert menu. If you would like a side of vegetables it is an additional charge and it is a serving for 2, so if your the only one in your party that wants this then it is a waste. Lastly I appreciate that the waitress came to check to see how our meal was however another gentleman came as well and not once but twice and he kept walking around the tables which made me feel somewhat uncomfortable. But all in all was a very good dining experience .
I have been to Smith Bros on several occasions and this visit was not up to par. I ordered a Caesar salad to start and the panko shrimp dinner. They brought the panko shrimp which was very dry and overcooked. I asked where my salad was, and the waiter had forgotten it. My two other friends ordered the roast beef dinner but the waiter did not bring the large knife. We had to ask for it after struggling with cutting the beef. Overall it was not a great visit.
Normally, Smithbros is our go-to place for our anniversary and birthdays...
But lately, despite using OPENTABLE for our resos, our servers don’t acknowledge the special occasion which is written in the notes section (anniversary/birthday) and do not ask us about it or offer the complementary dessert. This insentive is what drove us this place, along with the food quality and service. Hopefully, with the price increase, this is something that can be taken more seriously. Otherwise, why even have a special occasion request? Hopefully we can continue our business with Smithbros.
This was our first time dining at Smith Bros. It was your average steakhouse. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t exceptional either. I ordered a sirloin with a lobster and shrimp brandy cream sauce. I found the sauce to have a bit too much sweetness, which wasn’t to my taste, but others may enjoy. The service was quick and they were polite. When making the reservation via Open Table app, I listed that it was a special occasion (birthday) but it was never acknowledged so I’m not sure there is any point in noting it in future. Overall, just your average restaurant, which I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for.
This is a family favourite for steak, salmon and pretty well anything on the menu. The starters are great also. The beer selection is good. This restaurant can accommodate large groups or large families and kids are welcome. The servers and staff are always friendly and in general it is a good experience. There is also lots of parking which is a real bonus. We have had family dinners here a number of times and have always had a good time and enjoyed the food. We will try one of the weekday specials next. I would recommend this restaurant to friends.
We had been away from Smith Bros. for quite a while and were very happy to reconnect using our Xmas gift certificate. Service was friendly, but indifferent. We were never asked if celebrating anything and it felt like we were about to chow down at Swiss Chalet instead of a special occasion higher end restaurant. Glasses of water were never refilled, and someone approached the table to ask something, (I think about how our meal was) but unfortunately we understood very little of what was said to us. Maybe too much background noise?? The mussels were excellent, the burger cold, and two of the steaks under done! For a couple of hundred dollars, NOT a good value for our family. I can't afford to make this mistake again and not likely to return..
...after several lunches having our favourite , yes, the Prime Rib Dip, we finally made it for a full PRIME RIB PLATTER 12 , au jus, yorkshire pudding & fries [love the fries] and of course creamed horseradish...plus had 2 large orders of PEI Mussels , steamed with Smith Bros. All Natural Premium Lager, shallots, parsley...love your Mussel Pots...C’est magnifique ! Cheers ...
Delighted to find availability of my preferred time for reservation. Nice and easy to make reservations. No issues when we arrived.
As always, food, service and ambience was amazing. Smith bros is one of my family’s favorite places to eat even if its 45mins away from our home.
Staff are well trained and very accomodating. They make us feel very welcome.
Will highly recommend this place to all my family and friends.
Fanbloodytastic, cannot rate this place high enough! The service was phenomenal, our server was on point with everything, the food was amazeballs! And the whole ambiance was sublime. If you want great steak, great beer and a great place to eat, look no further.
Saw this restaurant on TOBlog and didn’t want to go downtown. Overall food was good. With steak you only got to cook it right and they got the cooking mixed up. I got med rare and my brother got med well. Should have been the other way around. Wasn’t an issue we weren’t going to send it back but mentioned it to the waiter. The manager came out and mumbled and offered to cook mine more. No mention of the overcooked steak!
Waiter gave us desert to share foc. He got his tip.
I have been going to Smith Brother's for my birthday for the last 5 years and I love it. The food is great, the servers are great-very friendly. The place is very very clean and is a good atmosphere. I look forward to going back soon-not just for a special occasion.
We have eaten here at Smith Bros many times before and always look forward to their steaks. Tonight we were extremely disappointed as the service was very slow and the food was sub-par. We had to ask about our order after patiently waiting far too long and when the food did arrive a 10oz sirloin, which looked more like a filet, was tough, chewy and not very tasty. We will probably give it one more try and vote with our feet if they do not live up to their reputation.
