Smith Bros. Steakhouse Tavern Ratings and Reviews
The presentation of our meals could have been a lot better. The waiter came with our salad with the order paper on top of it. So he was not paying attention when picking up the dish to serve.
He did explain that my meal wouldn't come with vegetables because my plate looked plain with a meat of meat and potato on that big plate. So i asked for some veg and he said they only have broccoli, ok . So he brings the broccoli over two big broccoli heads not even cut up. i had to cut it up myself i thought that was poor. and the broccoli was very hard.
It was my dad's birthday! I added a note in reservation! Why bother leaving a note when they never acknowledge it! It would have been nice to get a candle for him even though I had ordered the complete meal and had the dessert!
Mussels was grainy so they took it off which was nice, he was not happy that every other bite was sandy! I had only a few grainy ones he had most of the grainy ones.
I was interested in purchasing gift cards but the waiter wasn't really interested in selling, as he said you can't use it today and that was it, no explanation whatsoever!
I love this place and appreciate the manager coming to greet us at our table to ask about the mussels.
I even mention it's my dad's birthday, so much for the special celebration!
Amazing service and food; just wanted to say thank you for the manager for hosting members of the military and former members of the military every year for Remembrance Day. As a former member of the Canadian Army it is an amazing and thoughtful gesture.... thank you Smith Bros!
We enjoyed the best Thanksgiving dinner here. I was amazed at how good the turkey dinner turned out. Would highly recommend. It's quite loud though so next time I'll ask for a quiet spot. I had 2 people who wear hearing aids and they really couldn't hear much of the conversation. I'd asked to move when we got there but they couldn't accommodate us. I should have asked when I booked the reservation.
Thankgiving dinner special was excellent, food was so good. Server George was at his best as usual! My family/friends who were with us so much enjoyed everything. Had a fish allergy at my table and everything was handled perfectly, no concerns. Thank you.
If staff get recognized, would like to see George be part of - excellent server!
Terrible experience at Smith Bros. Our food was cold and the manager kept disagreeing with us. We had to send our prime rib dinners back twice because it was cold. Our server was put in an awkward situation. Our salads were full of brown wilted lettuce. We will not be returning there.
Table of 4 with a vegetarian dad ;) the veggie stack sandwich did not meet his expectation. Matchstick fries was a hit, though. The other 3 enjoyed their completes.
One thing I could recommend is their clam chowder soup and the warm bread with whipped butter. The steak was just alright IMHO.
We had called two times to let the restaurant know we were running late. Although they didn't have to, especially on a Friday evening, they were very accommodating despite being very busy. The server was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We got the sense that they really care about the food they serve and the service they provide. Very good value. Highly recommended.
Used to be my favourite place to have a steak dinner. Last couple times going, the food has not been up to the quality it used to be when we first started coming. I made a reservation online knowing it can get busy, and also requested a booth - which we never got, and never seem to get every time we request one. Our steaks on Friday night were cooked slightly over what we wanted and the fries were cold. We knew our steaks must have been dying in the window because they served us with half portions of fries and said they'd come by with another bowl for us as we didn't have full portions. We should have just sent back the food and asked for it all at once, but by that time we had already waited over 30 minutes to get served. Then when the bill came, we got charged for an entire bottle of wine instead of one glass. This will be our last time going to Smith Bros. Sad because it used to be great.
Our server was very friendly and attentive. The decor and the layout of the restaurant is a little peculiar. The prime rib was delicious and the unlimited mussels were pretty good but a little bit bitter and I think the shoestring fries doesn't really work with the dish and would be better with regular fries so I can dip it in the broth. Overall, the restaurant was good and I will be back with my friends.
Manager came over to ask us about experience - that was very nice. He's come over every time that I am there. However, the manager at the front who sat us was not very friendly. Beer was wonderful as always. The prime rib was VERY fatty.
The tableside guacamole was flavourless... we added salt and lemon (when it came with a friends shrimp). Same with the artichoke dip.
We asked for a table for 9 (previously reserved for 8) and were shoved into a corner with small tables, even though there wee tons of free spaces.
we had a guest in our party that requested plastic utensils because of a phobia. The manager was a little bit dismissive of that condition. the point of asking was to make our friend comfortable but the manager addressed the matter in front of our party of six stating in a matter-of-factly that the establishment only had metal utansiles making our friend a little bit uncomfortable. as for the rest it was very good, great server, great service, food served in a timely manner and great ambiance.
