Smith Bros. Steakhouse Tavern Ratings and Reviews
The steak counts. It was ordered medium rare, it came out medium well done. The steak was over seasoned and there was no meat flavour. The mini fries tasted only of oil hence I went for the wife's mashed potatoes - a much better choice. Value wish and consistency I will return to the Keg. I left the Keg because it always is too noisy and busy. There really is no alternate for decent Steak house in Toronto. My Black Angus is gone so I am left with few choices.
I took my grandson (19) there for dinner, our waitress Cat was good, fairly attentive. However, I asked for some Dijon mustard, which I had to ask for again, and received about 5 minutes after the steak arrived. The steaks were tasty enough, but were only slightly warm when they arrived. When you order medium-rare, you can’t expect the steak to be piping hot, but both of the steaks were only very slightly warm and the fries were cold. Probably the food was sitting somewhere waiting for it to be picked up and served.
Having said all that, the steaks were tasty and tender, so the temperature didn’t completely ruin the experience. And, while the food wasn’t Harbour sixty standard, it was far from H60 prices too. So, I would say overall value for money, but I won’t be rushing back.
The presentation of our meals could have been a lot better. The waiter came with our salad with the order paper on top of it. So he was not paying attention when picking up the dish to serve.
He did explain that my meal wouldn't come with vegetables because my plate looked plain with a meat of meat and potato on that big plate. So i asked for some veg and he said they only have broccoli, ok . So he brings the broccoli over two big broccoli heads not even cut up. i had to cut it up myself i thought that was poor. and the broccoli was very hard.
It was my dad's birthday! I added a note in reservation! Why bother leaving a note when they never acknowledge it! It would have been nice to get a candle for him even though I had ordered the complete meal and had the dessert!
Mussels was grainy so they took it off which was nice, he was not happy that every other bite was sandy! I had only a few grainy ones he had most of the grainy ones.
I was interested in purchasing gift cards but the waiter wasn't really interested in selling, as he said you can't use it today and that was it, no explanation whatsoever!
I love this place and appreciate the manager coming to greet us at our table to ask about the mussels.
I even mention it's my dad's birthday, so much for the special celebration!
Amazing service and food; just wanted to say thank you for the manager for hosting members of the military and former members of the military every year for Remembrance Day. As a former member of the Canadian Army it is an amazing and thoughtful gesture.... thank you Smith Bros!
We enjoyed the best Thanksgiving dinner here. I was amazed at how good the turkey dinner turned out. Would highly recommend. It's quite loud though so next time I'll ask for a quiet spot. I had 2 people who wear hearing aids and they really couldn't hear much of the conversation. I'd asked to move when we got there but they couldn't accommodate us. I should have asked when I booked the reservation.
Thankgiving dinner special was excellent, food was so good. Server George was at his best as usual! My family/friends who were with us so much enjoyed everything. Had a fish allergy at my table and everything was handled perfectly, no concerns. Thank you.
If staff get recognized, would like to see George be part of - excellent server!
