And in America, we have Small Plates- a uniquely communal dining experience where the only thing more stimulating than the culinary collision of flavors in our signature dishes is the company of those around you. Unbound by the limitations of regional flavor or color, Small Plates offers the palette a selection of cuisine as diverse as America itself.

Welcome to Small Plates. Our story began over a decade ago in Detroit, MI. Small Plates was the first restaurant of its kind in the United States and still possesses the federal trademark to our name and concept. We seek not only to serve our native Detroit, but also to carry exceptional cuisine and the spirit of this great city across the nation. Demonstrating quality in untapped culinary genres and reinventing ourselves along the way, Small Plates has never lost our vision of where we've come from or where we’re going.

Very good, but if you haven't been, it's called Small Plates for a reason. All appetizer size portions. Our waiter was great, and the food was great, but value per plate wasn't great. I spent almost $100.00 and we had Mac & cheese, Salmon, Scallops, 2 drinks and dessert. Sounds like a lot but as I said, all appetizer size. I'm not complaining, I will go again, but I just want you to know what you are in for.

Small Plates is a great location for dinner downtown, especially when attending an event at the Opera Theatre which is just across the street. Food is amazing and the drink selection is expansive. Reservations recommended.

Myself and my two daughters 11 & 14 came in for dinner before seeing a play at the Detroit Opera House. We got seated immediately. Our waitress Ashley was friend and very accommodating to my very shy and fussy 11 year old. It was an extremely pleasant dinner. I would come back again.

Perfect spot if going to the DOH across the street. The staff is accomodating, food is stellar and the place has a cool vibe.

We've been before, we'll be back again. Had a reservation through Open Table, but because of delay on People Mover, we were 20 minutes late. They didn't still have our table, but offered 2 options. We chose to sit at the bar. Shared 3 plates and cocktails/wine. Service was okay, I didn't think it was busy enough to warrant a 10-minute lapse between her wine arriving and my cocktail sliding into my thirsty hands. Scallops were delicious, mussels were yummy and beet salad was very flavorful! After we sat for while, we discovered we could use a little more to eat. So we ordered a Mediterranean Pizza. Fantastic!!! Yes, we'll be back!
