The redeeming quality that this restaurant has is the beautiful view. Breakfast stopped being served at 11:00. We arrived at 11, I ordered the all day Sunday breakfast option of eggs benedict and was told by the server that the kitchen couldn’t accommodate my dish because I requested scrambled eggs. I order this often with generally no issue. The server then had the manager come over who informed me that scrambled eggs couldn’t be accommodated and I would need to order something else. Disappointing that this was my response and I could have made these eggs at home in no time at all. I am a local and wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone and felt that I was more of an inconvenience to the manager than someone he cared to help. It should be noted that the server herself was fantastic- just didn’t have the support from her team to save the dining experience.
The food and service is always impeccable, but sitting beside Lake Okanagan is divine.
Lovely mid-week special occasion dinner at Smack Dab. The creative food presentation, portion size, and taste were all excellent (lamb and steelhead trout entrees). Service was knowledgeable, attentive and well timed. We did, however, find it curious to enter the dining room through the sports bar. With a view and menu like that, a separation of the two would enhance the dining atmosphere. Still, a delicious overall experience and we would happily return.
Would request a table next time- booth was a little tight
The staff are friendly and efficient and the ambience makes it a great place to meet with friends for a casual but delicious meal. The lakeview is up close and personal. All in all one of the best places in town to meet.
I have become a regular customer and enjoy everything and my favourite is the wine flight, pizzas and desserts as well as the option of homemade ice creams and sorbets.
Excellent as Usual
Very enjoyable, nice location , excellent service
We visited on a Sunday for lunch. Two mature females and our over 90 Mum. The things we liked most were the view, excellent menu, tasty food, good service and non intrusive but trendy music. The portions were large and filling. Prices were good but smaller portions with smaller price options for seniors would be preferred.
There is a $29 set menu with either appetizer/main or main/desert. No option fir appetizer and desert which was our preference. As none of the set menu items interested us, we ordered off the menu and had seafood chowder, steamed muscles with pita/naan (enough for two), Green salad with prawns, arugula salad and sour cherry cheesecake. Apparently you can request the salad as a side but we didnt see any mention of this. The desert cheesecake was good, but small considering how large the appetizers and entree were.
We booked online and selected “birthday” but no mention was made and no candle arrived with the cake. This was mildly dissapointing as we expected some quiet acknowledgement for my Mum who didn’t want a fuss, but a candle would have been nice.
I’m going back this week with a friend for her birthday and will see if this was normal or an oversight.
Great restaurant on the lake, just wish they had more nutrient dense menu options.
Everyone really enjoyed their food. Lots to eat. Burgers were hyge. Pasta was wonderful and live the view. Great place for a quiet lunch.
The scenery is excellent! Right on the lake. Great food!
Not much selection.
Experienced revised new menu. Glad that hamburgers were not listed! Food was served in hot skillet, well presented, tasty comfort food great for a rainy cool night. Quieter environment great for conversation without yelling. Will return without question
Service was exceptional. Food was hot and timely. Veggies were so so. Eldente with a lot of crunch. Did not meet the knife test. Pasta smelt like a fish dish which if fresh would not have noticed. The veal and lamb was great. We had a lovely evening and that's what mattered. Hard to be on top of everything.
I could sign it Gordon Ramsey(which I'm not) but if asked I will tell the truth.
Been to this place many times. Food is always good, good selection of beer and wine.
One of the best servers in town works at Smack Dab and we were lucky enough to have her as our server.......Cathy is truly amazing and has worked there for years. She made my moms 83 Rd birthday very special.
An enjoyable evening with good food, wine and great service. This place will be high on my list for all seasons.
Lovely place to go for all occasions. Enjoyed our meals and the scenery. Beautiful location!
The food was amazing, the server was professional and provided great recommendations. I would recommend the mussels, the veal and fettuccine! Would be happy to come back!
We were staying at the resort and thought it made sense to have a birthday celebration dinner while we were there. We weren't disappointed. Everything was great. Especially the mussel on tomato sauce. We dreamed of drinking the mussel sauce straight out of the pot - amazing!
Smack Dab has a great patio, fabulous view, a good basic comfort food. The prices are too high for the cuisine though - it's charing 4-star pricing for 3-star food. The service leaves a lot to be desired though. Our order was messed up a lot - vegetarian meal came with prawns. Fries were plain forgotten. Appetizers arrived at the same time as mains. Waitress doubled down on the bad service by trying to tell us that we miss-ordered... vegetarians are pretty good about not ordering prawns...
So, other that the prices being 30% over what they should be, and the our particular waitress being awful, the food is good and the view is great.
Wonderful ambiance and waterfront setting. A must-go-to restaurant for all special occasions. We do not live in Kelowna but visit about four times yearly and have made it a habit to go to Smack Dab every time we are there. Fantastic food and appetizers . Service was very prompt and dependable. We enjoy the place tremendously.
While the food was great, it was a little overpriced for the amount served.
Booths are too tight - both in table space and leg room.
The seating by the kitchen is less than ideal.
We should have been offered tea and desert menus - we would have ordered tea/coffee for sure as we wanted to sit and chat. Maybe they wanted to move us out?
from our appetizer to mains it was very good, our server was very attentive , all in all great value.
We had dinner here on Saturday evening (we had breakfast here earlier in the day). Both meals were great, but dinner was crowded and noisy! It was Saturday night during summer, so I assume that added to the crowd and noise. Service was a little slow since we were in the lounge area and the bartender was doubling as a waiter. Food was good though, and we weren't in a hurry so it was fine. Definitely make sure to make reservations on weekend nights during the summer- this place was busy!!
I booked on line and asked for a patio table and second choice was to sit by the window. There was 5 people. They were from out of town and I really wanted them to have a nice view that is why I chose smack dabs, unfortunately when I arrived on time for my reservation there was no patio or window seat available and ended up at a bar table with no view. Very disappointing and had I known before arrival I would have chosen a different venue
Smack Dab is always a great spot when I am in Kelowna. The patio is fantastic and the gluten free options are great!
Good food, wonderful ambiance, and great company!😀
Restaurant was very noisy. Small portions and over priced
I was not expecting a pub/sports bar style of restaurant and it got quite noisy. The dinner menu was quite limited. We hadn't been there in a few years when the decor was a little more formal. We went for a nice anniversary meal and view and got a noisy surprise.
Food was good, view was great. Service was weak. We were given our appetizer but no cutlery to eat it with. As the night got darker, we couldn't see our food. Had to ask to get the candle on our table lit. And no extra plate to put our empty shells. Not impressed with the service.
Lovely location. Friendly and accomadating greet staff. Appetizers very good. Mains overpriced for what you got. Except the chicken dish which had half a chicken!!
Our server Neil was outstanding! The view was incredible and we had a great night
Great scenery and atmosphere...sadly the service was not at the same level. Waiter forgot to order one of the meals, neglected to bring the water we requested for one of our kids, and left us unattended on several occasions for extended periods. Food was OK...not expedtional or poor. Had higher expectations.
I love taking visitors to town here. The view is fabulous, and eating on the deck is hard to beat. Our server was fantastic too. I think he was called Nick. Excellent place to eat.
Good buffet breakfast, with interesting options especially for kids.
We went to Smack Dab for a group Birthday Party of about 15 people. Had a fair amount of issues with the reservation and having it set up correctly. Once it was set up it was decent. As for the menu many of the guests had issues that it was too basic, there was not very many options for our vegan guests. The service was ok, the main server was not what we would call friendly but she wasn't horrible. The wait for food and drinks was longer then one would expect. Overall I would recommend this place for dinner but not for large groups.
Great food! Slow service. I found the Hostess' were not friendly and did not smile. We ate there a few times as we were staying at the Manteo. I prefer the restaurant and bar at El Dorado.
