We thoroughly enjoyed the innovative Canadian cuisine and ambiance. As we enjoyed our delicious appetizers, gorgeous deer grazed outside the window under the Christmas lit lawn! We had mentioned that it was a special occasion in our reservation and regrettably no extra attention was given but the food and service were so good we will definitely return anyways 😊
We had an excellent experience for my wife’s 50th birthday in November. It was quite and offered us the privacy for good conversation. The food was excellent as was the service. I would recommend Sleeping Buffalo to anyone.
It was our anniversary. They had flowers at our table .. complimentary glass of Prosecco. Amazing service . Once again we shut the restaurant down . Made our special day complete... thanks and see you next year
Server was friendly and engaging, and was the only server on duty, consequently dinner took two hours, and we did not have dessert or after dinner beverages.
Food was mediocre, gnocchi was dense, heavy and needed better seasoning. I adore staying at the lodge, but will never eat there again.
This is definitely a hidden gem. We were having a mini honeymoon in Banff and we loved this restaurant. The reservation was easy to get, we were greeted like old friends, the food and wine were explained to us and the experience was exceptional. Thanks very much for a most enjoyable evening.
Food was yummy and the Rocky Mountain cuisine was unique. Our server, Courtney, was fantastic- funny, helpful and attentive without being too much. The cookies were excellent as was the Heirloom tomato salad.
We had a pleasant dining experience at Sleeping Buffalo. The atmosphere is quiet, you can have a conversation without any interferrance. Quite romantic if that’s what your looking for. If they had a fireplace in the dining area, it would have been perfect.
I had expected more ambiance and also food with more flavour. my wife had fisk, and we have tasted better, but it wasn't bad at all. but the total bill was (much) higher than what i felt i got for my money
What a great experience. Our server Luke was awesome. Very knowledgeable and provided great service throughout our evening. We have the mushroom ravioli as a starter and it was perfect. Could have that as a meal!!! Chicken dinner was fantastic. We will come back as it was a great evening out.
Wonderful dinner of game meats, with attentive service.
Revisited the location on our anniversary. Great location. Would visit again.
This restaurant was a huge surprise and delight. We had driven for 5 hours form Kelowna and wanted a good meal but really didn’t want to drive anymore. We were staying at Tunnel Mountain Resort & it was right across the street. Fab food, great ambiance & great service. We totally lucked out!
The chicken dish was random chunks of white and brown meet swimming in a bowl of cream I thought I was ordering a juicy chicken breast and leg. The salad was stingy with dressing, cashews and four thin slices of nectarine. The service and ambience was impeccable.
Everything was wonderful...waiter, cocktails, food! I had the free range chicken in a cream broth with mushrooms. So tastey!! The potato/sweet potato gratin was also really outstanding. If I lived anywhere near Banff I would truly enjoy trying the whole menu. It was a wonderful end to a week in the Canadian Rockies.
Quiet, small dining room in Banff. We originally were interested in this restaurant for their game meats (we saw elk, bison, etc. on their posted menu). The actual menu seemed to be missing a few of the items we were interested in like the elk carpaccio and boar, which was disappointing. We got the charcuterie board which was lovely, their daily mushroom soup (tad too salty), the bison duo (delicious), and the gnocchi (underwhelming). Service was also slow - seemed to only be one server for the whole dining room while he was also running around the back doing things. Took a while for us to get more water. Felt a bit overpriced for what we got (our whole meal was about $140 excl. any drinks), but this is a nice option if you want to get away from the crowds and noise of the main village eateries.
A delicious dinner with great service. Loved the after dinner hot apple cinnamon tea cocktail!
Food was cold and over cooked, server was alone in the dining room with a least 10 tables, no manager came to help him, bartenders first day didn’t know basic drinks, we will not return
Nice restaurant although no views. Atmosphere is very nice. Service was excellent. Good wine list but bit pricey. Food was good but had better salmon and portions but small especially for the bison steak. Bit pricey for portion size
Food and service was good but the menu was not as good as when I have dined here in the Winter
We were the only family in the restaurant, for a late lunch at 1:30pm. Yet, the waitress didn’t fill our water glasses, realize a drink had been spilled, or check on the quality of the food. The food was cold when it arrived. The “fresh baked bread” was still cold on the inside, like it had been reheated from frozen. Plenty of great options in Banff, this didn’t make the cut.
We met at Buffalo Mountsin Lodge, and had oor first date at the Sleeping Buffalo, 23-years ago. Here celebrating our 20th Anniversary. Service was fantastic! Thank you for the menories.
We've been to the Sleeping Buffalo many times and the atmosphere and food are always great. On this occasion we were joined by friends from Europe. It was good but the main course took almost an hour to come to the table after our starters. A bit long. Other than that great. Very knowledgeable and friendly waiter, great food.
It was totally awesome. Great food. Great atmosphere and great location!
We ate here while on vacation. It was delicious. We started with a half charcuterie board. My husband had the bison duo and I had the boar tenderloin. We finished with the Apple strawberry crumple. My only regret was not being able to try more dishes!!!
It was our 45th anniversary. We started with the charcuterie board for 2, and it was really good. For a main course. I had the salmon and my husband had the bison duo.....both excellent. The dining room is beautiful so the ambience is there.
Das Essen war hervorragend !!! Wir hatten das Bisonfleisch . Auch die Beilagen sehr lecker !!
The charcuterie board for $30 was advertised as “serves two” was hardly enough for one person! Was shockingly small. One small piece of cheese on it. Were the two people supposed to share the one piece?
We ate here prior to a concert at the Banff Centre. Quiet place away from bustle of downtown. Our entrees - steak/bison were very good and our server accommodated our timeline
The food was good. The ambiance was nice. It was a lot more expensive than I thought for the meals. Overall a good experience but a little hard on the wallet.
Place was awesome. Food was fantastic. The server very knowable and also super friendly.
Started with an excellent pear blue cheese and cashew nut salad. All ingredients complimented each other. Main meal was the caribou medallions. Meat was lean and flavorful accompanied by a fig mixture and assured veggies. Wine by glass options were limited in choice but did enjoy both the Pinot and Malbec.
Chocolate decadence for dessert lived up its name and was the best dessert I have had for a long time.
Excellent food, and a great evening had by all. Service and selection were perfect
The food was really excellent. The service started off strong, but then the restaurant seemed to be overwhelmed and understaffed as our waiter was also tending bar and seemed to be servicing the lounge area. The restaurant then also allowed young kids to run around and another kid to throw snowballs at the window outside for ten minutes, which was really jarring. But, the food really was great and it was, overall, a very lovely dinner. Even the craziness of the undisciplined kids was somewhat entertaining for the novelty and brazenness of it all.
Had a great meal. All of the proteins (beef, bison and caribou) were cooked perfectly. My only suggestion would be to offer some reasonablely priced bottles of wine.
One of our most favourite places to dine in Banff. The caribou medallions are to die for. Great place, great service, superb food. Can’t say enough great things about it
We had a lovely date at your restaurant
Caribou medallions were the most tender cut of meat I've ever had. Ordered medium rare is the perfect temperature. Okanagan pinot recommended by Kyle was excellent! Fantastic, genuine service & lovely room. Thanks for a great time!
We were celebrating our first anniversary. The food was fantastic, cooked perfectly and amazing flavours. In two mains and two appetizers we were able to have duck, elk, bison and caribou. Drinks were quick to table and service was well paced, we didn’t feel rushed at all. Very highly recommend
This restaurant is a safe bet if you have picky people with you. Everything was 'fine'. Nothing blew us away or intruiged us. Mains were not all too flavorful, which is strange since they were both nice cuts. Appis were fine. Service was fine. Wine was fine. Would rather go somewhere more exciting to spend that kind of money.
