Fantastic food and service. Covid protocols make it feel somewhat empty and open, but they’re doing what is required during these times.
This was a weird dinner. We booked a 3 course dinner with the hotel reservation. Dinner reservation at 7:30. We had a mushroom flatbread and poutine as starters. The waitress warned us that they were not appetizer sized, but we had prepaid for the dinner so we were ordering two regardless. the poutine was excellent. The flat bread wasn't great, I ended up throwing out the leftovers. At 8:30 the waitress said it was last call, we didn't have our mains yet, so forget about having wine with dinner. We had the tenderloin and boar chop for mains. The meat on both plates was very good, seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Most of the sides were pretty plain but ok. The rye/leek bread pudding wasn't very good, very heavy on caraway. At 8:53 the music was shut off, we were still eating our mains. We got dessert to go. When looking at the menu ahead of time, we had planned to order a dessert that had rum pairings. Since the bar closed early, we did not.
Wonderful quire evening, good food and service
It was quiet and beautiful. Great service, great hospitality with amazing food!
Wild boar dinner never disappoints...so delicious! I also loved the avocado toast with a poached egg for breakfast! Thank you for two wonderful meals & ambience for the two of us to celebrate our 23rd year wedding anniversary❤️
We are so grateful to have the option to dine out with COVID restrictions lasting into February. Our server was fantastic and made the dining experience so memorable. Thank you for your hospitality!
Great food, nice option to eat high quality food in Banff in a more quiet private setting
we were the only diners at 6pm, wonderful for us in these covid times. the bison berger was so flavorful and the accompanying salad with beets was fresh and tasty.
Excellent service and food. Great for a special occasion!!!
The food was superb. The menu is a little limited. Overall experience was very good.
The portions appear small at first glance but they’re actually the perfect amount to feel satisfied and yet not overfull.
Decorated for Christmas and it was lovely
We went here for our anniversary supper and it was very romantic. We were given complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate the occasion. The food was flavourful but pricey, worth it for the romantic wilderness atmosphere. Great service!
The service and food was great, I would go back again but if your going in the winter, bring a sweater. It's cold!
We had good hot food, great ambience and enjoyably quiet area. The service was very attentive. We even got a small appetizer because they thought our food was taking too long. A very enjoyable evening.
Always delightful!
Best pork chop I have ever had! I do wish that they had have updated their website when they had changed the menu, my husband was really looking forward to the elk bourgeois. But the evening still turned out nice for our 10 year anniversary
Our survey ended up being the food and beverage manager, christen was awesome. Lots of fun and very professional.
The service was spectacular, the food was fantastic! A gem of a find!!
Perfect for a lovely romantic dinner. Food was amazing, drinks were fantastic. Meal was quick and delicious. Service was wonderful.
We had a very nice evening dining here, the food was great as was the service.
My husband and I really enjoyed the Sleeping Buffalo restaurant and we were treated to a wonderful glass of bubbly as we are in Banff for our 39th anniversary and my husband's birthday. The food was delicious and the ambience was very relaxing. Thanks so much for making our stay so memorable.
We were so disappointed.
We used to enjoy this restaurant.
Now they have a dumby down menu more likely bar food and the aetting was minimal. Covid is not an excuse for poor ambience and poor food. The Caesar salad tasted like it was made yesterday.
Prices remained fine dining prizes.
We were celebrating our daughter/husbands anniversary.
We were very disappointed and had to apologize for our poor choice.
The food was good but definitely not great. The menu is very small. The lamb shanks were super tough, the mashed potatoes gummy, the carrots undercooked... disappointing
Excellent experience. Looking forward to dinning again soon
The elk tenderloin was delicious! I had the braised beef ribs. It was also great! Caesar salad was a nice starter. Well done!
The food was amazing and the service was great!
We had the heriloom tomato salad, venison salami flatbread and elk tenderloin. The tomato salad was fresh but was not particularly special as it was tomatoes that were cut up with some sauce drizzle and cheese as garnish. It would not be something I would order again.
The entrees were done particularly well and were quite flavorful. The elk itself was extremely tender, even though it was not cooked to the right temperature. The demiglaze on the tenderloin was on the salty side but the flavors were all very pleasant and worked well together. You are paying a premium for the elk as it was $47 for the dish and could be a bit more refined.
Would recommend this restaurant to a friend and will be back at some point to try again!
Nice setting with good food and relaxed atmosphere (patio dinning). Would recommend.
A truly under appreciated dinning experience in Banff. It is off the beaten track that allows you an opportunity to experience the true natural setting that is Banff. From our table we had spectacular views Cascade Mountain.
The food was extraordinary in quality and presentation. The drinks were well balanced. The service was constant with out being intrusive.
The food was excellent and dining on a Monday we had the restaurant to ourselves. Very friendly staff made the evening very special.
Charcuterie board was excellent, one of the best in Banff. Mains were good but not great this visit but have had excellent mains on other visits. Very limited by the glass wine menu.
Food is good, table is small. Like I am sitting on a tim horton’s table for two. This is the funny part, they have quite a big space to put some large tables, but for some reason they didn’t. Service is good. I ordered, WILD BOAR CHOP, meat is well-cooked, but side is too simple, take a look my pic. I was launching at my girlfriends; there is no room to order a share plate.
The service was excellent and the food was really good. We shared the spinach and rocket salad and the mussels (with a few beers) and were impressed :)
My only negative response is the table for two, was incredibly to small! No room for food and drinks napkins and cutlery falling to the floor.
It was a very busy Valentine's Day evening, which is why the experience may have been a bit off. We had been looking forward to enjoying a drink in the lounge before dinner, but they had placed tables in there to handle the number of reservations, which was great for them, but not what we had been expecting. We had a couple of Sleeping Buffalo cocktails (one of the best drinks we've had recently) on a couch in the corner of the lounge, and when we checked in for our dinner reservation, we were sat a table in the lounge area that was in direct line with the main door, which, because it was such a busy night, was opening and closing quite frequently and sent a blast of cool air our way each time. The meal itself was fantastic (that coconut parfait tart!) and the service was great despite there being only one official waitperson in our area. We would go again because the ambience at the Lodge is so wonderful--you feel like you're somewhere other than Banff--but probably not for a special occasion evening like Valentine's Day.
Sleeping buffalo has a nice and quiet atmosphere and the food is delicious! We also had wonderful service. Would definitely recommend!
Enjoyed our server. She was wonderful
Didnt like my main dish but the desert and drinks were delightful. A little overpriced but overall good experience
We went on Jan 30 with several empty tables and we waited quite awhile for service in fact we had ask
Then we were told they were short staffed and they consistently forgot about us
It was not a fine dining experience
Food was good but did not make up for the lack of service
Good atmosphere, good service, food tastes ok but you get small portions for what you pay the steak (it
