Best pork chop I have ever had! I do wish that they had have updated their website when they had changed the menu, my husband was really looking forward to the elk bourgeois. But the evening still turned out nice for our 10 year anniversary
Our survey ended up being the food and beverage manager, christen was awesome. Lots of fun and very professional.
The service was spectacular, the food was fantastic! A gem of a find!!
Perfect for a lovely romantic dinner. Food was amazing, drinks were fantastic. Meal was quick and delicious. Service was wonderful.
We had a very nice evening dining here, the food was great as was the service.
My husband and I really enjoyed the Sleeping Buffalo restaurant and we were treated to a wonderful glass of bubbly as we are in Banff for our 39th anniversary and my husband's birthday. The food was delicious and the ambience was very relaxing. Thanks so much for making our stay so memorable.
We were so disappointed.
We used to enjoy this restaurant.
Now they have a dumby down menu more likely bar food and the aetting was minimal. Covid is not an excuse for poor ambience and poor food. The Caesar salad tasted like it was made yesterday.
Prices remained fine dining prizes.
We were celebrating our daughter/husbands anniversary.
We were very disappointed and had to apologize for our poor choice.
The food was good but definitely not great. The menu is very small. The lamb shanks were super tough, the mashed potatoes gummy, the carrots undercooked... disappointing
Excellent experience. Looking forward to dinning again soon
The elk tenderloin was delicious! I had the braised beef ribs. It was also great! Caesar salad was a nice starter. Well done!
The food was amazing and the service was great!
We had the heriloom tomato salad, venison salami flatbread and elk tenderloin. The tomato salad was fresh but was not particularly special as it was tomatoes that were cut up with some sauce drizzle and cheese as garnish. It would not be something I would order again.
The entrees were done particularly well and were quite flavorful. The elk itself was extremely tender, even though it was not cooked to the right temperature. The demiglaze on the tenderloin was on the salty side but the flavors were all very pleasant and worked well together. You are paying a premium for the elk as it was $47 for the dish and could be a bit more refined.
Would recommend this restaurant to a friend and will be back at some point to try again!
Nice setting with good food and relaxed atmosphere (patio dinning). Would recommend.
A truly under appreciated dinning experience in Banff. It is off the beaten track that allows you an opportunity to experience the true natural setting that is Banff. From our table we had spectacular views Cascade Mountain.
The food was extraordinary in quality and presentation. The drinks were well balanced. The service was constant with out being intrusive.
The food was excellent and dining on a Monday we had the restaurant to ourselves. Very friendly staff made the evening very special.
Charcuterie board was excellent, one of the best in Banff. Mains were good but not great this visit but have had excellent mains on other visits. Very limited by the glass wine menu.
Food is good, table is small. Like I am sitting on a tim horton’s table for two. This is the funny part, they have quite a big space to put some large tables, but for some reason they didn’t. Service is good. I ordered, WILD BOAR CHOP, meat is well-cooked, but side is too simple, take a look my pic. I was launching at my girlfriends; there is no room to order a share plate.
The service was excellent and the food was really good. We shared the spinach and rocket salad and the mussels (with a few beers) and were impressed :)
My only negative response is the table for two, was incredibly to small! No room for food and drinks napkins and cutlery falling to the floor.
It was a very busy Valentine's Day evening, which is why the experience may have been a bit off. We had been looking forward to enjoying a drink in the lounge before dinner, but they had placed tables in there to handle the number of reservations, which was great for them, but not what we had been expecting. We had a couple of Sleeping Buffalo cocktails (one of the best drinks we've had recently) on a couch in the corner of the lounge, and when we checked in for our dinner reservation, we were sat a table in the lounge area that was in direct line with the main door, which, because it was such a busy night, was opening and closing quite frequently and sent a blast of cool air our way each time. The meal itself was fantastic (that coconut parfait tart!) and the service was great despite there being only one official waitperson in our area. We would go again because the ambience at the Lodge is so wonderful--you feel like you're somewhere other than Banff--but probably not for a special occasion evening like Valentine's Day.
Sleeping buffalo has a nice and quiet atmosphere and the food is delicious! We also had wonderful service. Would definitely recommend!
Enjoyed our server. She was wonderful
Didnt like my main dish but the desert and drinks were delightful. A little overpriced but overall good experience
We went on Jan 30 with several empty tables and we waited quite awhile for service in fact we had ask
Then we were told they were short staffed and they consistently forgot about us
It was not a fine dining experience
Food was good but did not make up for the lack of service
Good atmosphere, good service, food tastes ok but you get small portions for what you pay the steak (it
The salmon was overcooked and left it very dry. The carrots and cucumbers were not seasoned well and resulted in them tasting bland. The chutney of sort on top of the salmon was flavorful and was the best component of the dish.
Nice place for a casual dinner, small Menü but tasty and enough
Great relaxing atmosphere! We had a table in the room with the fireplace and had the most amazing service! The food and beverage manager actually served us. We have 2 special needs teens (autism) that like their food with OUT some of the extras and they were very accommodating. We had duck, beef, prawn, boar, and chicken! We loved everything! Even the desserts are fabulous!! Couldn’t have asked for a better evening! Oh and my husband loved their IPA on draft!
The restaurant is beautiful and the staff were exceptional. Two of our meals were delicious, but the fish had far too many things going on with different flavours and the turkey dinner was a bit bland. The stuffing was overdone and I didn’t taste any type of cranberry/fruit on my plate. We also saw that everyone got bread prior to their meals, and we did not. I found the price of $90 per plate too much for the value. It was a nice evening overall.
Delicious food cooked to perfection and the service was amazing. Gorgeous spot nestled in the mountains - felt like a true getaway!
Lovely evening spent at the Sleeping Buffalo. The warm mulled wine was fantastic and the food was terrific. The service was outstanding. Our waiter’s recommendations did not disappoint.
The food and service were great. The decor could be fixed up so that it enhanced the dining experience.
Great service and food options. Would return. Tried ordering a watermelon smash and they didn’t have the ingredients which was a bit annoying. Wasn’t super impressed with the alternative version but the effort was there. Lovely space :)
Our third visit to this amazing restaurant, won't be our last!
Mediocre across the board, which is unfortunate at this price point. We had less than average service and the food left something to be desired. I expect a Banff surcharge, but it was even more destrcutive of value for money with the cold meal, poorly constructed sides, knife that i couldnt cut through any game meat with and inconsistent table service for basics like drinks. Id once had a meal here that was great (near a decade ago) and think that both the quality of food and ambience have diminished with time. Will not be back.
Food and dining room is good, just a couple of things. I needed to ask for the bread, I’m lucky I noticed the disclaimer on the bottom of the menu “Freshly baked bread will be served upon request” It wasn’t offered I needed to ask for it, like some peasant asking for a handout. Even though I did read this disclaimer on the menu it still made me fell quite small having to ask for it. It should be offered, let me refuse, or welcome it, but don’t make me beg for it.
We were asked if we would like deserts but no coffee offered.
Any of the normal complementary items you must beg for, because none will be offered.
The food was very good. I had the cod which was good but, being from Houston, I felt it could have used a little more seasoning or a bit of light sauce. Appearance was lovely, but curled, shaved carrots or other vegetables were tasteless. Strawberry shortcake ice cream sandwich was delicious. However, shortcake cookies were so hard could hardly break them to eat.. Great taste though.
As soo as we arrived at Sleeping Buffalo the staff made us very welcome, sat us at a cozy table and explained the menu. Great atmosphere, good food and great service.
Interesting dining room with a smallish menu but the dishes we had were cooked to perfection. I can remember coming to the same dining room (maybe a different name) over 30 years ago and mentioned it to the waitress. The son of the original owner is now running it.
Vriendelijk en goede kwaliteit
The food and service was amazing. Carleen was very attentive and made our dining experience exceptional.
