Brunch was delicious!! Service was super friendly!
Cold coffee, inattentive/rude server, food was mediocre.
We had a 5:00 reservation because we had tickets to Jerry Seinfeld at 7 at the Kiva. It should have been plenty of time for dinner. We had to flag our server down to order. He apologized and said they were slammed, and everyone was going to the performance. Our food took an inordinate amount of time to come to the table. It was well after 6 before our food got there. The waiter was super nice and did a good job serving. The food came out piece meal. There were seven of us. Once we got our food, it was excellent. We totally enjoyed our meal even though we had to eat it rather quickly. The management should know what’s happening In downtown Albuquerque and staff accordingly. I would definitely go back for dinner when time isn’t a factor.
Not great!! I arrived at 7 pm and was seated. The waiter took my appetizer order about 7:08. At 7:30, I had to ask the hostess to get my waiter because he never returned to get my dinner order. At 7:45, I, once again, had to ask the hostess to find my waiter because I hadn’t received my appetizer and I also wanted another glass of water. The seared ahi tuna (my entree) came out about 7:50 but still no appetizer (baked goat cheese and marinara). I asked another server (not mine) about the appetizer. She said that she would find out about it for me. The appetizer came out AFTER I had finished my entree!! I don’t understand why everything took so long or why my waiter was so absent; the restaurant was virtually empty!! There were maybe 2 more tables of customers there along with me and 3 servers. So, not only was my service poor, the food wasn’t that great either. There was WAY too much wasabi cream on the tuna entree! It was all over the plate and, therefore, the food. Also, the goat cheese appetizer wasn’t worth the long wait. I started to send it back but at that point I was just ready to get back to the hotel. This was my first visit to Albuquerque and this place was recommended to me. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good experience or a great meal. Needless to say, I don’t plan on returning to Slate Street Cafe.
Great off the beaten path restaurant, cool atmosphere, good service and great food!
The food took a little bit longer than I expected, but was delicious. I was hoping for a little more tuna on my tuna nicoise salad.
Waiter was not very friendly. He looked like he hated to be there. Took my order and never came back.
Excellent food in a pleasant place. Attentive service. Great meal!
Bruschetta was awesome followed by entrees that were not! Seemed like maybe cheese wiz was drizzled over my broccoli side.
Our server gave us great recommendations and was an excellent host!
This was our first visit to Slate Street Cafe and it was excellent. So great we went back again that week. We had scallops, ahi tuna, chicken and green chili and chicken soup. They say people make the experience and Andy the bar manager did just that. He took the time and recommended the wines for dinner and the ports for dessert. My wife and I had a great dinner and wine experience because of their chefs and Andy.
This was our second time in two week period we were in Albuquerque- we loved it. Got selections and well prepared - love the fig bruschetta. The servers are friendly and helpful. As a wine and beer bar it is excellent !!
This is by far my favorite local restaurant. This time I took my relatives while they were here to visit. We started with the bruschetta. I had the chicken fried steak, they had the fish and chips and burgers. Everyone walked away stuffed and happy. I'm looking forward to going back again.
Service slow. Two hours total. Food portion small and cold when it arrived
I went to Slate Street Cafe for dinner for my anniversary. We had the Bruschetta for an appetizer that was beautiful and tasty. We really liked the different topping choices that we were given. The Ahi Tuna was world class as well as the Salmon bowl. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
Slate Street never Disappoints. I have been there many times weather it’s brunch lunch or dinner it’s always great.
Love the ambiance menu and excellent service.
Thanks Slate Street!!
What a great find! We had great food and service and would definitely go back!
We had a group of 12 and were accommodated in a side private room. Every service was great. Restrooms were right next door. It was great. We love to have Sunday lunch here.
One of our favorite restaurants in Albuquerque! My only wish is that they would add some vegan options (besides salads) to their menu. The atmosphere is lovely and the service excellent.
Adorable downtown gem! Great mimosas and delicious brunch, I will definitely be back!
Food was great and service was really excellent. Not a big menu, however they did have variety. Everyone at our table was real satisfied and pleased by the food. Service was super. Many different staff came to take care of us and it seemed like they were all in great moods. Will return for sure.
Everything was wonderful from the service to the food, which was excellent. It made for a very special evening for my mother and I before going on to a dance show. Love this place.
We enjoyed the evening with our adult children and spouses. Our reservation was ready, food was excellent. We missed the baker being out of town, so dessert choices were limited. We recommended Slate Street to others and they now have a party booked for April 20:)
The food was excellent, and the staff was so kind and accommodating, despite our later reservation. The bruschetta was amazing!! I dream of the wild mushroom.
We've eaten at Slate Street numerous times, but my recent experience was not wonderful. There were four of us, and we each had something different: tofu bowl with udon noodles, Moroccan chicken, acorn squash salad, salmon and rice bowl. All entrees were tasty and nicely prepared, which is why we return to the restaurant. This time we went on a Saturday night prior to a theater event. We told our server that we needed to be out at a certain time. Long story short: we weren't. We didn't miss the show, but we had to cancel the dessert order. Service was very slow. We inquired multiple times about our order, and then our check. Eventually they showed up, though our waiter never reappeared after taking the order. The noise level was very high, and it was hard to hear the other people at the table. We won't go back soon on a Saturday night. Whether the restaurant was understaffed for the evening (or in general) or the crowd was unexpected, management needs to rethink staffing needs and peak time service.
We love Slate St. Café and go there frequently. Our guests were very pleased with their choices but my roasted squash salad was disappointing. There needs to be more roasted squash and the other special veggies added.
The new beet burger is a welcome addition to the menu and the wines are always excellent.
Food was excellent, the six of us ordered a wide range of entrees, and everyone was very happy with their choices. Server was quite knowledgeable about everything we asked, and was the perfect amount of attentive.
Food was good. It was a last minute reservation for 8 on NYE service felt rushed.
Very good food, great service.
Very good service, food was very tasty.
Unfortunately our reservation was at 8:00 PM and there was a party in the loft. Your fish entrees were sold out and the place was really noisy. Not our best outing there but the waiter was very attentive, even made us a fresh pot of coffee.
The staff was friendly but lacked training. We ordered wine that was recommended but it had begun to sour. The soup was good but too large a portion. The noodle dish had little seasoning. Some of the vegetables had not been cut into manageable size pieces. Overall the pricing seemed high and erratic. We won't be returning.
Great place for dinner. Parking is a little bit difficult but we found a space eventually.
Jason our server was very pleasant and took great care of us.
Always a great experience at Slate Street. This time though the scallop dish was not to its high standard.
Ordered the NY strip. What I received was a cold, very thing, very chewy, God knows what cut of beef but it sure as s wasn't a NY strip. Mashed potatoes also cold and the horseradish mixture was over the top. Had a $13 glass of Pinot Noir from Oregon that tasted like 2-buck chuck. Maybe we hit them on a bad night - Thurs. night at 6pm, not a soul around. And we've had good lunches here before. So I'll give them another chance. Sometime.
Menu choices for several diners with food limitations and staff helpful with recommending options. Something for everyone.
This was the first time we had been there. Nice wine selection, excellent food, nice ambience. All around, a very nice, relaxed place to go.
We went to slate street to celebrate my birthday on Sun 10/21. The service was not good. I was disappointed because we got there at 12:30and our waitress didn’t even come greet us until 1. Our food wasn’t served to us until 1:45, it was cold, and she forgot that it was my birthday after having said she’d bring me a free cupcake... 😞
The service and food were incredible- they were fun, friendly and real. They had our table ready for us and were incredibly accommodating even though we were a bit late and added one extra person. We will be regular customers now.
