The Slanted Door offers diners a gourmet experience where the food on the plate looks as beautiful as the views of the Golden Gate Bridge from every table. Charles Phan, the executive chef, goes to the root of the dishes to represent the food authentically with a modern twist. The Slanted Door offers lunch and dinner menus with a variety of appetizers, palate cleansers and main dishes.

The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. The Slanted Door offers a family-style menu and a wide selection of desserts with an extensive bar menu to wash it all down.

Food was amazing but the staff seemed like they couldn’t be bothered to deliver it? The actual people who delivered it to our table were great, but our waitress and bartender seemed less than interested.

The Slanted door was straight FIRE! My fiancee and I have been talking about it for the last couple days and we will surely stop by there again.

I have been searching for a fabulous Vietnamese restaurant since I moved from Southern California. Slanted Door fits the billl everytime. The food is consistently well prepared and the service is impeccable. You can not beat the view from Slanted Door.

This is the second time I have dined at the Slanted Door and been thoroughly unimpressed by the sloppy team service and the food. Not one item of 7 dishes stood out as being exceptional. This included the oven roasted Sea Bass, Squid entree, Cauliflower side, 2 appetizers and 1 dessert. Service was abrupt, dropping dessert menus by 1 server and being approached 30 seconds later by another asking if we were ready, (this was the case from the beginning to end of our meals). Also, no explanation was given after we ordered coffee and an empty coffee cup was placed on the table with no mention of the fact it would take 10 minutes to have that cup filled by yet another random person walking around with a French press. We finished dessert before it was served. Just not a good experience and there are so many amazing places to eat in the area I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Our reservation for a 1:30 pm late lunch was perfectly timed as we went from the high energy Friday lunch ambience to a somewhat moderated and more romantic birthday meal. Each dish was beautifully presented—3 types of fresh oysters with several dipping options and the best pho, with medium rare steak and a velvety homemade broth, we’ve ever had. Char, flaky and tender, paired well with grilled cauliflower. A wine specialist identified a lovely Austrian wine that held up to all our dishes. On a beautiful Spring day, it was a truly fine SF experience thanks to the non-intrusive, excellent service by staff.

Just not a great experience--and expensive for what it was--nothing special about the food and the service was hurried and routine. I agree with the other negative reviews.

Visited San Franciso for the frst time and had read several positive reviews about the Slanted Door. This restaurant is absolutely fabulous! While awaiting our table we had a drink and oysters at the bar. Once seated the two of us shared spring rolls, shaking beef, and bok choy with shitake mushrooms. Added a side of rice and this was the perfect amount for 2 people. Although every dish was great, the shaking beef was the star! After reading reviews about the olive cake we could'nt resist and shared one order. SOooooo delicious! The atmosphere was lively and our table had a perfect view of the Bay bridge. Wait staff was attentive and helpful.
One tip: If you want a specific date and time be sure to make your reservations early!

Great food but unfortunately quite noisy setting. It was quite difficult to follow the conversation because of the background noise in the restaurant.

Outstanding as always. The oysters on the half shell are great starters. Love the crab noodles, shaking beef, whole fish (this time a bass) plus got to try the confection plate with the cotton candy....YUM!!!! And the bar cranks out some wonderful cocktails. Love the cool and unrushed service. Recommend the Ghostwriter Pinot Noir and Fritz Hagg German Mosel to accompany your selections.

Overpriced and mediocre. The glass noodles and crab is all noodles and no crab. A dated tourist trap.

There was a 20 minute wait for a table, but when they sat me in front of a view of the Bay Bridge, it was well worth it. The server was accommodating and informative, the hamachi was some of the best I’ve had, and the shaking beef is famous for a reason. I’d absolutely return.

Server was excellent (I am sorry that I cannot recall his name, blonde, butch cut hair, black framed glasses). Server made great recommendations, great/accurate information, and returned frequently to check on us without being interruptive/intrusive.

Food fabulous, every course. Thanks for the complimentary offerings as well.

Buspersons: Good workers, polite, but need to be trained in being less intrusive. At small tables of four, one serves right-handed to those on the right and left-handed to those on the left in order not to intrude and interrupt guests at the table (been in the position and was trained in that ambidextrous skill in 4-star restaurant). Our final busperson interrupted to ask if he could remove dishes (unnecessary interruption, we were clearly finished) and then leaned in so far as to cause two people to have to lean away or be pushed off their chairs.

Sorry, I'm an old guy and all restaurants these days are too noisy for me. Really loud! Did not allow much conversation. I get it that loud atmospheres appear to be normal these days, but it would be nice to have less noise.

We'll be back. Overall, thanks for a good experience.

Very unassuming spot as it’s located in the ferry building and accessed around the back. Walk in and it’s family style with a large open room with table and chairs. Was so packed! Food was SO good!! Would definitely come back to eat more. The chicken was beyond juicy,
papaya salad and all the other dishes were fab. Came with my girls for my bday and they brought me this light orange cake for a surprise. Loved it!

We sat down, the waiter (who seemed a little bothered by having to speak to people) took our order and then 5 minutes later all of our food came in a rush - everything.... appetizers and mains. Not a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience at all. Food was ok but not good enough that I would make a trip back or recommend it.

You know how there's that formula that the better the view, the worse the food? This place blows that theory right out of the water. Another ridiculously good meal overlooking San Francisco Bay - the 5 spice-roasted cauliflower and the asparagus were especial winners today, but after going vegetarian for Lent, the pork ribs were mighty satisfying too! This is truly one of my happy places.

With a reservation, the wait was over 30 minutes. Upon checking on status of table , no one seemed to know what was going on. Server did not ever ask how things were. Bathrooms were dirty. For the amount of money we spent for one meal, we were disappointed with the experience. Food was delicious but in SF there are many other options for delicious food.

The food was delicious and our server was very attentive and provided great service.
However, the waiter who bus the table was very rude when approached. It appeared that the waitstaff were very busy and overworked and so this compromises the nice experience this restaurant should provide for the customers. Hopefully the management can pay attention to details in the future.
