Food was ok but nothing special and definitely not worth the price. As for service, a place of that caliber I would expect the hosts to be dressed in something other than runners and for servers to explain the dish when it's brought to your table.
Great experience, good food and nice service
We loved the food and atmosphere at The Slanted Door! The food was delicious and great for sharing. It was our first time and the waiter was very helpful in recommending dishes.
Fantastic as always, love everything about Slanted Door. Service and every dish is just outstanding, oysters H/S starts the night, yeah!!!!Lisa our server super professional and always there even though it gets crazy busy. Just sad that it was the last day for our favorite hostess Jeddie, good luck to her!!!
Slanted Door was once one of our favorites in the City, but the place just feels like it has lost the magic. Service was so poor that we had to get up and approach the counter on 2 different occasions. One to get our second round of drinks and one to get a check. Also, there were only 3 uni-sex individual bathrooms available and the lines were wrong.
Slanted Door is always awesome! The food is simply delicious and the ambiance is classy.
I’m from out of town and tend to come to San Fransisco she real times a year. It’s been tradition or the past 5 years to meet friends who travel from across the bay, for dinner at the Slanted Door. The experience is always a happy one - the fabulous food and friendly service add to the wonderful occasion and keeps me eagerly anticipating my next visit.
Service was remarkable. We stretched our meal over many hours, and were not for a second made to feel rushed. Food was tasty as expected.
Overpriced. Not special. I’ve had better Vietnamese food at 1/3 of the price. Food appears at random at the table. Service is ok.
High noise level for conversation. Acoustical options might help to be explored. Great food menu and service. Very "San Francisco" culture. Greatly enjoyed.
Vietnamese food is, by and large, the same...noodles, chicken, seafood, tofu. Most Vietnamese restaurants charge in the neighborhood of $8.95 to $9.95 for Grilled Shrimp over rice noodles with crisp roll and peanuts. I paid $18 for this dish, which, though tasty, was not outstanding and certainly not worth the $24 (with tax, health insurance fee and tip) I paid. I feel this is a real rip-off. However, the restaurant was crowded, as, I am sure, it is daily...so there are a lot people out there who are either rich or just don't care what things cost. I shall not go back.
The freshness of the food was definitely the standout. We have been here before, and we were again very impressed. Good waitress and recommendations. Would be appropriate for a date, a business lunch, a dinner, really anything. Top quality and great experience.
One word - Excellent.
Great dining and ambiance with outstanding views and service. When we came in the "noise' seemed a tad bit louder than expected and the tables seemd too close to each other but once the drinks and food started coming thru it became much better. Highly recommended for the sea food choices!!
Very good food but very loud. Unable to converse easily.
Was lucky to get a reservation the day before our visit. Food is always delicious and enough to share between 3 with 3 entrees and 1 appetizer. Service was prompt but did not seem rushed. The noise level can make it hard to hear, but cannot beat the view. Worth going back.
One of my favorite places in San Francisco. The view and ambiance is great. Everything I order is usually very tasty. Always a big hit when i bring guests from out of town. Love it.
Great food ambiance service food. Love this resto. Always lunch here when in SF. So disappointed LA opening was cancelled😢
Service was great. We were greeted immediately and our water glasses filled. Interesting menu. Hard to decide what to choose. Everything is served family style which was ez to divide amongst the four of us.
Clams! Wonderful! Caramelized shrimp, I will definitely order again!
Dessert, strawberry sponge cake! Yumm!
Great food as always, with a bigger group than we usually have so the server helped us select the proper amount of food. She nailed it, we were all full and only a little bit leftover. The scallops and short ribs are standouts.
The food was fantastic and suitable for a wide variety of taste buds. Ordered the ribs twice.
The acoustics were not great but can’t really complain as the food was so good.
I have been coming to The Slanted Door since they were located in the Mission, many years ago. The food is still fantastic, and the service is extraordinary, especially given how busy they are. The space in the Ferry Building provides a great view out over the water from many of the tables, but all that glass, and the crowd, makes for a very loud environment. Don't expect to conduct quiet or intimate conversation here. I was even delighted by my cocktail - it is rare to find a drink made with fine rum, and not destroyed with sugar and syrups.
Great birthday lunch for a close friend of mine. Our server Ned was great. Outstanding experience.
Slanted Door has never disappointed. Sometimes the service is a little curt, but they are professional. The food is very good and does a decent job of covering vegetarians. My only real complaint is that the last couple of times I’ve gone there with a reservation, I was seated a full 30 minutes after the reservation time. Make no mistake, that’s because this place is always seriously busy because ... it’s that good.
We ate at the Slanted Door on the last night of our girls’ trip, and the meal was awesome. The location and ambience were great, and the food was insanely good. We loved sharing all of the dishes we ordered. The only negative feedback I have is that it got really loud in the restaurant and was difficult to hear my friends a couple chairs away.
Really fun, delicious food but seriously expensive.
For the price and all the hype, this restaurant is a joke. Dishes were made with minimum effort (sloppy, lazy or trying to save money?) It's a shame to Vietnamese cuisine. I regret coming here.
Wonton soup was exceptional.
Prices are silly expensive. I'll pay $20 for an appetizer at Boulevard, but not here. Come on.
We loved every single aspect of our meal and service, it was fantastic!
Food was outstanding. Dishes are meant to be shared which means you can try several. This is essentially a high-end Asian / North American menu. Great for a date, visitor to San Francisco. Server was excellent and very knowledgeable. Would definitely go again.
Always a great experience to dine here with a superb view, outstanding service even though it's crazy busy, and can't forget to mention the oysters h/s, imperial rolls, shaking beef, crab cellophane noodles, whole fish and spicy squid. But wait, there's more and desert is over the top. You have to get the confection plate which is basically cotton candy but it reminds you of those childhood visits to the carnival. Slanted Door is the top restaurant in San Fran, no doubt.
We were referred by a friend and were not disappointed. They seated us early before our reservation and took great care of us! I loved the ambiance, the views and the service was great. Food was amazing, I just wish we would have tried more food!
Great restaurant and service! Great view! Great place to take your out of town guests!
Food and service delicious as always.
Thank you for great seating.
We had a great time.
Overall it was excellent (!) but our waiter never smiled or engaged with even a hello.
I was disappointed that the shaking beef was tougher than I expected. The duck confit salad was very good.
