The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere
Such a TERRIFIC restaurant.. unique, interesting, TASTY, creative, and excellent... Try anything, it’s all exceptional
A friend dropped by to say hi - and the hostess was very rude when he sat at our table (admittedly a table for 2 - but we moved to accommodate him so we weren’t disturbing other guests) for 5-10 mins. Will not return to this restaurant
Always one of my go to spots in the city. The food is awesome and the views are great.
excellent all around. you can taste the freshness. order the salad w/ the pear in it.
Honestly, I feel bad for your incredible chefs because the horrible service just made me forget how good the food was. Took too long for someone to take our order. Entrees took like 35minutes after we finished our appetizers. Dessert took another 20minutes after we finished our main course and when I told the server I didn’t want it anymore it was suddenly there but the 2 servers didn’t give a damn that I was annoyed and one of them even rolled his eyes at me like “calm down its here”... very very disappointed and will definitely not come back.
Delicious selections - still love their bok choy preparation! Good wines by the glass at fair prices.
We absolutely love this restaurant!! We will definitely return.
Brother’s graduation. Family came out from Oklahoma and Texas. Had the cookbook and have wanted to come for a while. It was excellent and the members of the family that were unsure of what to expect came away surprised and happy.
It felt souless to me, like the ember has died and what's left is a cafeteria experience. The seating feels more crowded than it did before. The food arrives without a rhythm, in lumps from a hectic kitchen. The staff were super stressed - it was like everybody was over it.
Great service! Amazing food! Overall a very enjoyable night. Most impressed by server...very discerning. Will be back!
The food at the Slanted Door is always great. What made this visit particularly special was the bartender, Noel. He was knowledgeable, fun, and friendly. He engaged with everyone at the bar in a really nice way and turned me onto what is now my favorite cocktail: the 4th Regiment. Delicious.
Awesome food. Great location. Service was great. Definitely recommend.
The food is fine, nothing really special, and a bit on the pricy side. (It's the Ferry Building, duh.) The highlight was in fact our incredibly attentive server. It was crazy busy when we arrived for lunch and she wasn't able to take our order for a while. Suddenly, a different server brought over a plate of spring rolls, which I thought were a mistake. Turns out our server comped them to us bc she felt we'd been neglected! (We were deep in conversation and hadn't even noticed.) Needless to say, we left a good tip.
I had lunch and dinner there. Very happy with the place. Food is good, but not cheap.
Fantastic as always - I have never been disappointed. A great SF experience.
Wonderful restaurant - food great - service is good but a bit slow at times.
After waiting for 15 minutes with no service, we left the restaurant. No questions were asked by the hostess team despite explaining to them the reason we were leaving. There were numerous empty tables despite there being no reservations available after our early 6:15pm arrival time.
Food overall was good. I had made several “phan” dishes at home. I was excited to try his version of “shaking beef”, not be sound pretentious by my at home version tasted better. Dessert was excellent as they turn a bowl of peanut butter and chocolate into an amazing reinvention of a Reese’s peanut butter cup.
Everything is Good!
Over priced Asian food and not worth it. I’ve had better spring rolls and spare ribs. Their chicken soup smelled like wet dog and tasted horrible. 6 different people tried this soup at our table and everyone said it smelled and tasted bad. If you want to dine in the Ferry Building this should be your last choice!
Our food was good but the service was poor. Our waiter was inattentive. We had to flag down a manager to order a first round of drinks. We then had to ask a bus boy to find our server so we could order. The restaurant was not slammed. There were plenty of open tables. We weren’t on a timetable and/or stressed for time. The service was just really horrible. After we placed our entree order the food arrived in less than 10 minutes.
This is my third visit to Slanted Door and my only poor service experience.
Excellent as always. Pricey but always very good food.
I have previously had two GREAT meals at the Slanted Door but unfortunately yesterday was not one of them! I must have ordered the wrong dish as I had black cod which arrived as a REALLY small slimy piece of fish, a few sprigs of greens and three shavings of carrots. The curry sauce was tasteless. I had to go to Peet's afterwards for a muffin as I was still hungry! Although the dessert (poppy seed cake) was delicious. My sister had the tofu which she declared was really good. The server said they were family size dishes to share but I could never have shared my very small dish of food.
I am willing to give the Slanted Door another try as I have had exceptionally good meals there before. I shall just be sure NOT to order the black cod!
I've been here several times and they're not accommodating at all. Their have quite an attitude, very snobby. The food is very good and the view spectacular but I won't go back, too many great places in SF.
Amazed it is still as good as last time which was a few years ago!!!
Great for birthdays my server was fantastic
Our family has been visiting The Slanted Door for many years. Actually, since they were at the previous location. Always a great place to dine.
The Ayestas family from New Orleans
I came here for an anniversary with my partner for the first time and we enjoyed our whole meal, drinks, and dessert. We loved the view especially. We plan on coming here for our anniversary every year and special occasions from now on.
We had a very unpleasant server and made our whole experience rather miserable. She was not very attentive during the meal but the worst was when we were ready to pay. We wanted to split the bill but she was not happy and snapped at us. She snatched one of the credit cards from our table and charged the total to one card. I had to ask another server to assist us to correct the payment arrangement. Wow, our server was unusually impatient and uncooperative.
Our overall experience was very good, but it was hard for the four of us to hear one another. Also, I hope you'll add some vegan entrees and real vegan desserts instead of just removing items from what usually goes into the dishes. For example, you could have a version of your grapefruit and jicama salad that uses pecans NOT dipped in egg. These days, considering the importance of plant-based dishes for the environment as well as for health and animal welfare, you're doing a public service when you offer more vegan options.
We have been going to The Slanted Door since they started on Valencia Street. So more than 20 years. We have been going to the current Slanted Door every year on our anniversary for more than 10 years (we have been married much longer).
We have never had a bad meal or a bad cocktail at TSD, and don't expect to anytime soon.
This time we brought friends from Spain, one of which is a vegetarian. Everyone had a great time and was truly satisfied with all aspects of the meal.
One big added extra, one of the fun desserts that was not on the menu, Cotton Candy, was available.
Wait staff was great
The slanted door has long been one of my favorite restaurants to come to in San Francisco. Though it is expensive the ambience is great because you’re right on the water. The food is fresh and delicious.
Loved Slanted door - food, service, view...all wonderful!
The food was delicious.
Couldn't spend a night in SF without having lunch at the Slanted Door! The menu is fantastic and I just wish I had room to sample more!
We had an excellent lunch at Slanted Door. We try to go there every time we're in San Francisco. Ned, our server, assisted us with our food selections and they were awesome. Ned and the staff were very attentive and professional. Looking forward to going back.
Excellent food. Table had a magnificent view of the bridge. We ordered the crispy veggie imperial rolls (excellent), green papaya salad (super-fresh and light), chicken with raisins, and a tofu spicy dish. I had a rose tea --which was exquisite and was recommended by the server! Amazing evening.
