The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. The Slanted Door offers a family-style menu and a wide selection of desserts with an extensive bar menu to wash it all down.

The best spring rolls ever!
We had a great dinner!
Second time there and it excelled. Great waitress awesome food and wow what an ambience. Thank you
A bit overpriced for the food but great ambience for a get together. Was disappointed to be charged for the birthday cotton candy.
It was a fun experience to have lunch at Slanted door. The setting is lovely; right on the SF Bay; great views. I made a reservation and we were pleased to be seated as soon as we showed up for our appointed time. The serve staff were extremely efficient but not particularly friendly. The lunch menu was nice; several interesting dishes. We splurged on dessert.. some of it a little disappointing, i.e. soggy puff pastry though the fillings were delicious. The lunch crowd is fairly noisy; my friend and I kept repeating ourselves to hear each other. I have been to Slanted Door (for dinner) twice in the past and found the lunch setting more casual. I would certainly go back but would engage the wait staff a bit more about food recommendations.
Fabulous and interesting entrees that were great for sharing. Loved the Mai Tai cocktail, delicious and not too sweet. All four of us voted this the best meal we'd had in ages - memorable. The room is large and loud and packed but the service was excellent and our table was against the far windows so noise level was manageable.
We've really enjoyed the food here the past couple times we've visited SF and this was no exception. The location is great and the view awesome. We arrived early and we were seated right away by the window. Service is super duper fast (some people like that, but we don't - makes us feel rushed.) The crispy imperial rolls were awesome and we loved the chicken clay pot too. Sadly, the spareribs were just OK - while the sauce was tasty and the pork flavorful, they weren't tender. Very busy place, so it also gets really loud and it's hard to even hear yourself think. Tables are very close together too. Prices typical of SF (so expensive too). It's been fun visiting them many times over the last 15+ years, but this is probably our last visit since there are now lots more Vietnamese restaurants in the area to try. 3.5 stars overall
Nothing short of amazing. What a terrific combination of flavors. Loved the clay pot chicken, tofu dish and of course the cellophane noodles. Papaya salad was unique and delicious. And don’t skip the churros for dessert - literally melt in your mouth. This is a fantastic restaurant.
We had a delightful experience! Our server was exceptional! She gave us excellent suggestions. We were pleased with the choices we made. My friend and I had not seen each other in a long time and she was sensitive to not making us feel rushed.
It was nice - lovely view of the Bay and bridge - but not really special enough to justify the price. But that might be sticker shock since I am not from SF....!
A wonderful meal! A client told me about the Slanted Door when I mentioned I would be in San Francisco. He said I must eat here. What a treat. Everything we had was amazing. Fresh, cooked to perfection and fabulous flavors. Will be sure to return on my next visit to SF. Be sure to make a reservation early!
Prices gone up
Food not as inspired as it use to be
Vegetables way undercooked
A sensational experience .... food, service & vibes! 🏆🏆🏆
It's so spacious and loud. It was very hard to reach out to the waiter, so busy. Overall, it's not a good place for small group.
A classic! Love the raw appetizers as well as pho and entrees.
Service was very slow and the flow of dishes was questionable.
Been coming here since they opened, but it had been a few years. Happy to report it is still one of the best restaurants in San Francisco. Amazing food, view, and service. No wonder it can still be a challenge to get in.
Great service and they did not rush you. Food was not quite as good as other times I had been there.
Food is soooo delicious
Lamb chops undercooked. Hanging beef underdone. Bok Choy was the best of the 5 dishes we ordered. Place was packed and service hindered by customers wandering all over the restaurant taking selfies.
Great restaurant but not one of their better nights
The experience was good, appetizers & dessert were fantastic. The entrees were marginal. Also very expensive and probably would not return based on price.
Had an awesome time here. First time here and was highly recommended! It’s worth the wait! Stunning views
What happened?!?! Food used to be great here but not anymore. Very, very mediocre food. Service was below average, too. The location and view are still fabulous! I invited a friend I hadn’t seen in a long time and I was totally embarrassed. There are so many other Asian-fusion and Vietnamese places now - will never return.
Lovely view.nice varied menu. Food was hot a delicious
Churros was good but too much sugar.
This restaurant, located in the SF Ferry Building, seems overpriced and a bit overrated. $43 for their “signature” shaking beef dish seems over the top. It is good but not great and not a whole lot of food. Our tab for three people, without alcohol and before tip, was $120 and we left feeling like we didn’t eat much. Recommended for people seeking “designer” Vietnamese food with a great view of SF bay.
Always delicious! The problem is that they are always booked or overbooked because reservation times are not on time and food takes way too long to come out. Our dinner was just about 3 hours- which is great when you have an old friend to catch up with and you’re not starving! I had both those things (old friend and not starving!) so the evening was delightful. Just be aware that you’ll have a nice, long evening there.
Service is pretty slow, and we had to flag our waiter down for basics like water refills and appropriate utensils for the dishes being brought out. Food was overall salty.
Gray is my favorite server, sit in his section!
I've been following the Slanted Door since their days in the Mission. It's a San Francisco institution! The waterfront location is gorgeous and buzzing with people! The food, as always, amazing! A couple of things to improve upon: the front of the house and the bussers need more training. The blonde hostess was unfriendly and couldn't be bothered to crack a smile as we checked in. Hello? You're in a service business - SMILE when you greet your guests. Although our waitress was lovely and charming, the bus staff needs more training. As our table was being reset for the main course, the busser placed a steak knife on a plate and slid it on the table towards me and it stopped with the knife facing my chest! We were only a table of 4 and he couldn't come around the table to place it down properly. He did that to everyone in our party!
Also perhaps it is time to update the bathrooms.
I have been to the Slanted Door many times and it never disappoints. Food was delicious especially the caramelized catfish. Service is always outstanding.
Food was terrific as always. Service was a bit rushed this time.
I wanted this to be great but it just wasn’t. Dumplings were delicious and the rest (imperial rolls, ribs, shaken beef) were fine but not worth that price. Delicious cocktail (endless summer) though! Bathroom was pretty gross for a restaurant of that caliber.
The hostess completely ignored us when we tried to check in. A bar waitress finally helped us get settled. I could have made the same food in my own kitchen, seared scallops and crab infused noodles. Noise levels were outrageous! This is another example of a restaurant gaining attention and then taking itself far too seriously where customers don’t seem to matter. We ave been twice but will not return,
As always the best in SF!
Excellent food as always. Served at the bar, excellent service and atmosphere.
A classic, but still feels cutting-edge; intelligent selection of dishes and wines, beautiful setting.
The service was impeccable and the food was excellent.
My second visit to Slanted Door, but already planning my return. The food was very good. Ever so slightly overcooked prawns kept it from being stellar, but everything was so flavorful! Delightful server. Quite enthusiastic about the food, and knowledgeable about the wine offerings, he steered us to just the right choices. Pricey, but well worth it.
Never disappoints! Come here on every visit to the west coast, imperial rolls, shaking beef and cellophane noodles, can’t go wrong!
