The Slanted Door offers diners a gourmet experience where the food on the plate looks as beautiful as the views of the Bay Bridge and the Bay Lights in the evening from every table. Charles Phan, the executive chef, goes to the root of the dishes to represent the food authentically with a modern twist. The Slanted Door offers lunch and dinner menus with a variety of appetizers and main dishes.

The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. The Slanted Door offers a family-style menu and a wide selection of desserts with an extensive bar menu to wash it all down.

A pre fixe menu is required for all parties of 7 or more. Please call the restaurant to book. Multiple reservations will not be honored.

Our waitress was very accommodating and lovely. The food was okay - rather pricey and made more for an American palette (ie some sauces too sweet and overpowering), which is a pity.
We had the claypot chicken and shaking beef. I’ve had other dishes before and they were better.

I was satisfied with everything except the noise level. It was impossible to carry on a conversation without having to shout. My friend and I had to leave early with our lunch only about a third eaten because we couldn’t hear each other. Our server and the bus person who packed up our food were quite wonderful. It would be so nice if Slanted Door could figure out a way to improve the acoustics and absorb some of the sound. I regret that I won’t return for this one reason alone. Thank you for paying attention to these comments.

Excellent dishes. We had the spring rolls, shrimp wonton and pork soup, green papaya salad and cellophane noodles with Dungeness crab. All very shareable and coursing was timed just right. Great cocktails. Took their suggestion and tried the Riesling flight with dinner.

Slanted Door has good meals. I strongly suggest that the price for lunch meals be less than the dinner meals. The lunch meals are too expensive.

We booked on open table, arrived a little early, as was seated about 20 minutes after our reservations. The service was fantastic and the food was divine. Definitely recommend the ribeye and the tuna tutaki, but the scallops were my favorite. One of the servers brought out an appetizer for our wait, which we truly weren't bothered by, and it was equally delicious. Can't wait to go back when we visit again

First time at the Slanted Door but will not be my last. Our theater group met there for lunch. Our waiter was amazing, helped us with both cocktail and food selections. The drinks were wonderful, food superb and view of Bay and Bay Bridge was spectacular even on a cloudy day.

Slanted Door is my favorite restaurant in literally the whole world. The food is lovingly, beautifully prepared, and every dish I’ve ever ordered is consistently delicious. The service is warm, friendly, professional, and fast despite the fact that the restaurant is always packed. Whenever I have visitors I love, Slanted Door is where I bring them to introduce them to the Bay Area’s world-class cuisine and to treat them to a meal they’ll never forget.

The food was good (appetizers). Well at least what made it to our table.
Our waitress kept disappearing.
My husbands main dish never showed up. When asked, we were told it was coming. We never got it cause the waitress never put in the order. So we left and I had to take my husband to another restaurant for his birthday!

Awful in all the important ways.
Service was harried, food mediocre,
ambience loud and impersonal. AND, the pricing of a Michelin star restaurant. Complete misrepresentation in most review sites.

Was at better the last time I was here. 5 yrs ago. Ribs were tough. Tuna tartare was very good. Rolls so so. They forgot our Dumplings. The salad with grapefruit and Jicama was fabulous- loved the dressing. Could have use a bit more Jicama but overall great! The Prawns just so, so. The crab cellophane noodles were good but not good value.
Potential is there. Need to execute!

Because of the torrential rain that night, I was over an hour late. My dining partner was there as scheduled at 6pm. He was welcomed and made to feel comfortable by the staff. When I arrived 70 minutes late, dripping wet, everyone welcomed me. The Hot Toddies that our server brought me were divine. We enjoyed the food and desserts, especially my cotton candy which is my go-to dessert at Slanted Door. The evening was not a total bust and I will definitely return soon.

We had a lovely meal here. We got the hamachi, imperial rolls, and the dumpling appetizers. Those were all delicious with the highlight being the hamachi. The rolls were a little challenging to make since they come with lettuce and rice noodles to wrap, but because the imperial rolls were much smaller than the lettuce, it got kinda messy.

We shared the shaking beef and scallops for our entrees. The shaking beef was great! The scallops were a miss for me. We asked for salt and it helped a bit but the carrot purée didn’t complement the scallops that well. We also got the brussel sprouts. They were good but I probably wouldn’t order them again.

Overall a really nice meal and would like to go back to try a few other dishes.

Cold night and initially sitting at the bar was not great as every time the door opened a breeze came in. Drinks exceptionally overpriced. Would recommend if you have the $$$$.

I love this place and try to visit each time I’m in San Francisco. Each visit results in another exceptional meal, and tonight was no exception. The Slanted Door spring rolls, the vegetarian egg rolls, the shaking beef, clay pot chicken, noodles with Dungeness crab and other dishes were all superb. Plus, when they initially forgot to bring one of our entrees, they comped it without our even asking. Great food, exceptional service.

I am very fond of the Slanted Door and have been patroninzing the restaurant since its days on Valencia street and have come often to the Embarcadero. I will admit I was disappointed that the menu did not include Garlic Noodles or whole or cracked Crab whether roasted in a sauce of fresh which are generally a staple at at Vietnamese restaurants; also no diet sodas (diet coke); these may seem like small things, but again, this is a "upscale" restaurant--only one of many--patrons can choose from and it seems ridiculous that at Fisherman's wharf in SF of all places, you can't actually get shelled crab at this restaurant. Any vietnamese/french vietnamnese restaurant worth it's salt should have both. Had I know in advance that this was the case I would have gone elsewhere. The food is good and I'd still recommend it but not without telling folks that you don't serve these dishes. My brother and sister-in-law traveled here from very far away and hoped th have crab (served at places like Crustacean's and similar places) and we were all disappointed. We ate heartily, spent over $500 there but would not do that again without Crab and garlic noodles on the menu. Also, my nane is Angelita but the email confirmation came back for "Greg"? Reservations were on 11/23/2019 12:15pm email is angelita@gene If/when I do return, can you get me right in your database? I came in early and had someone correct it there, but if I use Open Table again, it'll prob identify me as "Greg" again.

The quality of the food was excellent. The experience was marred by the loud noise level which made it difficult to have a conversation. The wine was way over priced and the selection we made at the waiter's recommendation did not enhance the food. I suggest coming for lunch when it's quieter.
