The Slanted Door offers diners a gourmet experience where the food on the plate looks as beautiful as the views of the Golden Gate Bridge from every table. Charles Phan, the executive chef, goes to the root of the dishes to represent the food authentically with a modern twist. The Slanted Door offers lunch and dinner menus with a variety of appetizers, palate cleansers and main dishes.

The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. The Slanted Door offers a family-style menu and a wide selection of desserts with an extensive bar menu to wash it all down.

Overall unimpressive. Hostess & table service uncaring, even snippy. Only gracious staffperson was the lady who cleared our table. Food AMple but not that flavorful. Something must be working, though. By the time we left the place was packed! How did they win all those awards??

Receptionists were not friendly and acted annoyed. Setting was like a cafeteria with tables pushed closely together to allow more seating. Service was slow and a bit pushy to order all at once. Food was mediocre and overpriced. Filet was tough and chicken tasted like plastic. I was not impressed at all and paid over $275 for a birthday dinner. Left feeling hungry and mad at myself for not doing more research on more innovative and intimate settings. I think the location is great, but the novelty has worn off. Bar drinks were great though and the bartenders were friendly. However bar area was dark and cold. Just so disappointed that we spent so much money on a place that is so reputable.

Thai food was spectacular as usual. The only negative was the difficulty in getting water refills.

Slanted Door has really interesting and tasty menu items! Located in a fun spot in the SF Ferry Building right on the waterfront. Overall, lots of fun BUT beware....it is very busy every time I have been there and it is very expensive! Lunch for 3 w just one Moscow Mule each and 3 plates cost over $170! Yes...for lunch!

When you go ask for Grey to be your server, his knowledge of the menu led us to let him order for us. Quite possibly one of the best lunch experiences I’ve ever had.

My favorite restaurant for nearly 20 years! Shaking beef, grapefruit jicama salad, crispy imperial rolls, cellophane crab noodles, boc choy are my favorites, but everything I've had at Slanted Door is excellent!

Returned to our favorite neighborhood haunt with a business associate on a busy Wednesday night. The demure ruddy and bearded waiter was out of his element, unfriendly, slow, impatient and made the meal less than it could have been for the money.

The dependable rolls and shaking beef were excellent but the wine options on the by the glass
Menu need up dating; let’s go for quality rather than pretentious and obscure since the best fusion restaurant around should have complementary wine by the glass.

The food at Slanted Door was good. The service was not. I had a reservation for three adults plus my baby. The staff clearly did not like that I had my baby with me. We got several backhanded comments and looks from various waitstaff. But the icing on the cake was when it took over an hour for our entees to be ready, while watching other tables that had been seated after us get their food. As I had my one year old with us, we could not continue to wait indefinitely and I asked for our food to be boxed up to go. The waitress was unapologetic when she annoyedly told me “I didn’t realize you were in a hurry”. Very unwelcoming and a terrible choice If you have children. I will not be going back. The food was good but not good enough to make up for a very unpleasant dinner.

I’ve been wanting to try The Slanted Door for years. I’ve had food from their “take out” station which was tasty. To celebrate a MD graduation, I thought it would be nice to be have a nice view and stroll around before and afterward our late lunch.

View was beautiful. Service was fine but not out standing. We had to flag the waitress down several times even after she told us as we were being seated that we had 15 minutes to order since the kitchen was closing soon.

Food was delicious but definitely over priced. Papaya salad was fresh and spare ribs were tasty and plentiful. The imperial spring rolls were delicious but they were so small and there were only 3 small rolls cut into two pieces. They provided plenty of lettuce and some rice noodle to wrap your piece of roll in but definitely not enough spring rolls.

Crab with noodles was good. Not amazing but tasty. Asparagus dish was nicely cooked. Shrimp dish with onions was tasty.
Shaking beef was $41 so I expected more quantity as well as flavor. Beef cubes were good but definitely not worth the price. Each 3/4 inch cube was probably $5-$6 each!!

It was nice to sit with the view of the bay/ ferry boats. The food was tasty and yummy so if you don’t mind the price tag, it is a place with good atmosphere. However, You could get more reasonably priced tasty food else where.

Wonderful dinner! We were visiting San Francisco and it was highly recommended by a friend. Food and service were the best. I wish I could remember our server's name. He was great. We were a party of six at a round table at 8 pm 5/15.
Only criticism is that the menu was in tiny print. Font could be bigger because there was a lot of space left on the page. Also, the restaurant was very crowded. Obviously with the popularity of the restaurant, they want to get many tables in, but it was cramped and noisy. It would be a difficult place for someone in a wheelchair to visit.

They are located in a good place, the old Ferry building and you can see the bay and bridge from most locations. Everything my party ate was delicious according to them. It is pricing and would be better if it was 15% or more less on the bill. It was very noisy so no quiet, romantic dinners.

Filet Mignon- Cubed and the best I have ever had!
Both my date and I HATE cucumbers, so we ordered the papaya salad and citrus/fennel salad due to the menu specifying the contents NOT HAVING cucumbers. Only to our surprise, the papaya salad had cucumbers. When I told the server, she said, "Oh yeah, sometimes they throw in special ingredients". Not acceptable. My date ordered the Ahi Tuna, which was COVERED in DILL, that dominated the flavor of the tuna. My date didn't eat it and the server said, "Oh yeah, it is covered in dill, I don't even like dill (especially raw dill), I'll take it off your bill". Hello- My date didn't even get the opportunity to order something different and left the restaurant hungry.

The tables are WAY TOO CLOSE. Felt like I was a sardine talking in a sardine can, as the acoustics are terrible

We went to Slanted Door for Mothers Day after not having been for awhile and were profoundly disappointed. I made the lunch reservation well in advance. We were a party of 6, but had to squish into a table for 4. The service was ridiculously slow. The restaurant was so loud we could not hear each other. Our waiter was unfriendly and sour-faced. Yet we were forced to leave a 20% tip. I’ve lived in the area for 20 years and this had always been a favorite spot for me. Honestly though I doubt I’d go back.

My girlfriends and I had a good time celebrating 2 birthdays at the Slanted Door. A little disappointed in the charge due to us bringing a box of cupcakes. In addition, the Shakin Beef is always a good dish, but disappointed in the amount of meat we received for the $41.00 price tag. This dish used to have more meat. Asparagus + Mushroom dish was also very shy on the mushrooms. Nothing like the photo on the internet.

Several other dishes we had were very good and more appropriate portion size.
