Not sure why this restaurant is so lauded, it's overly noisy, the food is good but not great, and the staff/service completely blew off an important request. Suggest trying other spots.
No problem with the food . They were delicious but portions were small. We were four people and ordered 5 from the menu including veg roll appetizer and cost each of us $40 including
tip...we felt it was not worth it because later in the day we were hungry (exchanged notes). I may not return, just expensive for smal portion.
Still great after all these years, the Phan family continues to turn out their classics, but also new twists. And the wine list continues to provide interesting choices that fit with the food.
Food took a bit long to arrive
The food was outstanding and our waiter was terrific. Service at the front desk though was cold and the waiting area is poorly organised.
Always a great meal with terrific service. Amazing spices and the clay pot chicken never fails to satisfy.
Very good food but overpriced, and the ambiance leaves much to be desired.
Excellent food. Great flavours and interesting menu. Vietnamese but not as you know it. Really enjoyable. Busy restaurant but great service and buzzing vibe.
As usual we loved the freshness of their food ! Always there’s a twist to its taste and ingredients! Expensive but definitely well worth the gastronomical journey!
We were celebrating my daughter's 30th birthday. The View was extraordinary the food was amazing and our server could not have been Kinder. In fact he had not been told it was her birthday and yet he arrived with a wonderful birthday surprise for dessert. I won't tell you and spoil the surprise cuz it's pretty surprising.
Birthday nice dinner!
I took my mom who was in town for her birthday and when she was away from the table told the waitress it was her bday and if we ordered dessert I'd appreciate a candle or whatever. The waitress said no problem. When we ordered TWO desserts they arrived at the table with nothing whatsoever for her birthday. Very disappointing. You had the chance to make it a special meal and blew the chance. Such a bummer.
Good just not my cup of tea.
Hostess was stuck up and rude. Food portions were pretty small and mediocre. Pretty bland.
Overall...Best Vietnamese food ever! Great view and very nice waiters!
Many of the dishes here are just delicious and the flavorings are bright and interesting. I love the daikon radish cakes and the stir fried chicken. They are really special.
Food no longer cutting edge. Relatively small and unexciting menu. Far too expensive, noisy and crowded to go back. Very disappointing.
Unique and delicious but be ready to spend $100pp
Way too loud, service slow, not attentive. Unfortunately for you there are many good restaurants in SF that are quieter, so I would not return for that reason.
Been to Slanted Door multiple times now, and it is equally as tasty and delicious everytime. Some of the best Vietnamese food in SF, and the location is second to none right on the Embarcadero waterfront. Great for dates or for bigger groups. Highly recommend.
It was great. The shrimp noodle dish was a bit boring but loved everything else we ordered. Our server was wonderful too.
Our waitress was great and so was the Singapore Sling, she told us about half orders so we were finally able to compare the fried and unfried spring rolls. The fried are better. Thanks.
Enjoyable evening, tasty food, casual, good view of Bay Bridge
Great food with an amazing view!
The food was bland and portions small for the price.
Carpet was dirty-it is also a very noisy space making good conversation difficult. The food was good and service was prompt but unfriendly.
Very good food and interesting menu sadly it was spoilt by the loud music which meant we couldn’t have a decent conversation! Also we were charged for drinks we didn’t order luckily my husband checked the bill carefully.
This food was fantastic!!! So very flavorful!! Would definitely recommend!
Loved the food but this is not an ideal place for two. It’s very loud and has a cafeteria like ambiance....
Good for large groups if you don’t mind the noise level
Delicious food , great service, amazing view of the bay and the bay bridge. We had a group of six and didn’t have any problem hearing multiple conversations even with a full restaurant.
The server was nice but not on par with the caliber of a $50 steak. I had to ask for my drinks more than a couple times for each drink. So many more great tasting “fancy” Viet restos around. Try those instead. You pay premium for the view of the bridge, not the food. As a local I don’t want to pay extra to see a bridge I drive on every day
Service lacked greatly.
Overall dinner was delicious and we had a great time. We had to catch a ferry and they rushed dessert so we could enjoy the beignets and cotton candy before heading home. My teenagers were very happy. Our only disappointment was our table in the back. I had made reservations about a month earlier for my husband's bday and my daughter leaving for college. I requested a nice table with a view. I know it doesn't always happen, but when we were seated at a table in the back near the private room, I was very disappointed. I mentioned it to the hostess and she was indifferent and said, this is all we have. Our evening didn't quite start with the excitement we all had for the evening, but luckily the meal/dessert were delicious and we left satisfied.
Love it! Our server was great, she helped us choose the right amount of dishes to share for our table of four. Food was delicious. Definitely coming back!
Was good not so spectacular with the food, I don’t know if was because they were almost to close the kitchen
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing view! The price was definitely worth it!
A nice visual experience on the SF Bay waterfront, one you're seated, which may be somewhat of an adventure if our visit was any barometer. There was such a demand for tables, the restaurant's staff didn't seem to want to waste time making their guests welcome. Table service, however, was nice and attentive. The food was well prepared, but for the restaurant's reputation a bit of a shortfall, taking expectations into account. The noise was mess hall loud with a full house, by the way. Anyway, if you haven't been there before, it's worth the trip if you're going to be in the neighborhood.
As usual, the food was excellent. Had the beef pho soup and fresh spring rolls. Nice pineapple ginger lemon drink as well!
Dinner was great. Service was great. Enjoyed every bit of it!
This restaurant never disappoints on any level! Fabulous food and service and always top on my list to go to in San Franscisxo!
Food was generic and boring - nothing made me go WOW! Definitely not worth the price
