The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. The Slanted Door offers a family-style menu and a wide selection of desserts with an extensive bar menu to wash it all down.

The quality of the food was excellent. The experience was marred by the loud noise level which made it difficult to have a conversation. The wine was way over priced and the selection we made at the waiter's recommendation did not enhance the food. I suggest coming for lunch when it's quieter.
The food is AMAZING. The service is precise. They have this down. Enjoy your life a bit more by saving up to have the full experience INCLUDING the cotton candy.! Superb.
Everything was off the chart amazing. The food, the service, the menu, the view of the bay.... an experience we will remember for a long while.
Wonderful as alway! They have not skipped a beat! Always great quality and reliable.
Way too noisy. Felt rushed. Food delicious as usual but overpriced.
Really good food. The whole fish and the noodles are amazing.
Loud and expensive but great service and great food.
They need to remodel the bathrooms, old and dirty, doesn’t help the wonderful food at the restaurant
The service was so slow. I was on the way to ask the front desk if we had a server when she finally came to the table. And the noise was so loud we had to scream to be heard.
The brussels sprouts dish should have been called an onion dish as there were more onions than brussels sprouts and onions were not in the description at all. The glass noodles tasted good but there was almost no crab. The squid dish and the dessert was delicious. Waiter totally forgot to bring the rice with our order. Sort of underwhelmed for the potential but also not entirely surprised.
My first visit was 6 years ago, was on my own and found it in the Ferry Building. Back for a conference in November I booked in advance to visit with a partner. The food was a departure from normal fare and with the help of an exceptional waiter navigated the menu and was very satisfied with the result. Moderately expensive but excellent value for food, ambiance and service. The desert ice cream was a ginger, cranberry, vanilla special and the best I have ever tasted.
Wonderful as always, my favorite dining experience on the Embarcadero, I must happily go there or four times a month. Now that my daughter lives in San Francisco, it's a convenient place to meet for lunch and dinner, and it never disappoints.
I have eaten here often over the years and almost always enjoyed everything. However, the food and the service seem to have have slipped recently. Our trout came to us uncooked in the middle, the eggplant was underdone, and the crispy imperial rolls were barely cooked. When we sent out trout back, it did not come until we were almost done with everything else. They also lost our coffee order and we had to chase down the waiter ( who was otherwise very nice) to get the bill. At the prices they charge, they need to do a better job.
The slanted door never disappoints. From the time they were in the mission with a real slanted door. Thanks for the cotton candy on a nicely designed stand! It made me remember how great the food and service has always been! Nice to know somethings never change.
I had heard how good it was but it was just so so. The Slanted Door Spring Rolls did not taste freshly made and the scallops were rubbery. It did not live up to the hype.
Lovely view, good food, interesting presentations.
Much, much too loud for conversation without shouting.
One dish was truly excellent. The other was good. A bit pricey but tasty. Bustling environment. Pleasantly noisy. Well experienced servers. We
The food was as good as we had heard about. Noise level is high, but to be expected in this lively setting. Overall, very enjoyable.
Excellent location and food, servers and service was great. Enjoyed the unique cotton candy dessert. Really crowded and loud so plan to shout a bit to converse.
Asked our server to give us a good vegan meal, didn"t even look at the menu, and it was GREAT!!! Front desk was rude when I called to move our reservation 15 minutes later because of a flight delay, though.
Be prepared for a super busy and crowded restaurant! ..and we visited on a Tuesday night in November! The Slanted Door deserves all the attention. Cindy was an excellent server - attentive but not overbearing. She read our table very well...suggested a half order of the pork/shrimp summer rolls as we were also ordering the lettuce wraps for an appetizer. Perfect! We especially enjoyed the lettuce wraps but both were excellent. The Clay pot chicken was ok but not the top of our recommendation list. We look forward to going back and check some of the other local delicacies!
I ordered the seared sea scallops ginger carrot puree, brussles sprouts - scallops were big and tasty but the other two items had an odd flavor. The sommelier was a big help in selecting just the perfect wine.
The crispy imperial rolls were a very tasty app - would highly recommend. My husband ordered the whole fish and it was so very good and we should have just split it as there was enough for two. Great seats with a view of the bridge. Excellent place to go!!!
Every time I am in SF, I always get to Slanted Door. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire country.
One of my favs in the city! A little noisy for a business meeting if you are there at noon but overall a great place!
Ate here twice on our trip to San Francisco. Unique and well prepared Vietnamese cuisine. Shaking Beef was the best. Very helpful and attentive server. Spectacular view of the Bay.
Amazing food, drinks, ambiance. Would be great if they also offer some coloring pages and crayons for the kids!
Food is great. Staff are very good. But the seating is VERY tight. Felt like the person at the next table was eating with us. Plus, that creates a loud room!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in SF. We drive from Walnut Creek to dine there. Beautiful drive in to the City; amazing food, view, staff and service. Love Slanted Door every time we go!
Wonderful food and service. Truly great!
Problem was very loud environment which impacted our ability to fully enjoy our time there.
Therefore, lower score for ambiance.
Service was friendly, efficient, fun. Food:A+. Sommelier: friendly and informative and super helpful
We loved every bite. Ahi tartare, spring rolls, jicama and grapefruit salad, shaking beef, lemongrass chicken and lichee cotton candy. We surprised our kids and all were soo happy!
Wonderful flavors and colors
One of my favorite restaurants in the nation. I go there every time I am in SF.
Creative and delicious food, beautiful view of lighted Bay Bridge, fun atmosphere, wonderful owner, Debbie, was exceptionally accommodating and oh so friendly! Pricey, but such a special experience!
I went with three of my co-workers. We shared an appetizer of springrolls which was delicious; the sauces were amazing. Three of us had the cellophane crab noodles. The noodles were delicious, with chunks of crab and full of flavor. We are going back again.
Service was terrible. Food was just ok. Very noisy. This used to be a wonderful restaurant with excellent food and service. It has gone downhill in recent years. Would not go again.
Food was great, but it was sooo loud!
I have mixed feelings about Slanted Door. It’s super popular for obvious reasons and as a result it is really crowded and uncomfortably loud. I have to commend their attentive staff - despite being super busy, there is no compromise to the quality of service they provide. All that said, I think the greatness of the restaurant is captured in their “Out the Door” model - and that will be how I continue to get my fix in order to avoid the expensive and over crowded restaurant. Definitely some dishes that miss the mark at the restaurant.
