Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
We often bring our guests from Europe to the Skylon Tower. They find it a special treat to be able to dine atop a very recognizable icon. While it can be a very busy place during high season, it is a unique and memorable experience for them. A view like no other!
Spectacular view and great ambiance, not impressed with the food, as not cooked to order, and the worse pina colada I’ve ever had. The service was very poor, no apology for my food not cooked to order, had to request silverware when main course arrived, and never saw him again after that, had to get some other server to attend to us.
In my experience, revolving restaurants have mediocre food and high prices. You pay for the view and the ambiance. This one was better than that. The food was good to very good and the prices were surprising in that the bill was lower than I expected. The only glitch was that I ordered a 10 oz glass of wine and was given a 6 oz. The bill was correct, though. I believe that the sommalier confused my order with the gentleman at the next table who ordered a 6 oz glass and got a 10 oz. No harm done, though. You can go to the observation deck two floors above the restaurant at no additional charge.
Warm, friendly people ... fair pricing ... good food ... magnificent view ... great ambiance
Since I was with the love of my life, it was pretty close to perfect.
The food was very good but overall the service was terrible! We did not realise there was a mandatory $41 charge per person to eat there because it was not on the reservation and we did not see the to be print in the menu. We did not have a problem once we realised but the server was extremely rude to us about it and then continued to be rude the whole night - even going so far as to leave our food cooling at the pick up counter until another server brought it to us. Then as we were leaving we heard the staff talking rudely about is in a group which was very unprofessional. The ambience is what we went there for and would go again only for that. I saved up to bring my sister there for her birthday and it soured our evening to be treated this badly.
This is a "must-do" destination for anyone visiting the Niagara area for the first time, particularly couples. Staff is friendly and helpful, food is good, and naturally, the view and ambiance are unparalleled, given the height and rotation. It's a bit crowded in the restaurant, as they've packed and configured chairs and tables for maximum occupancy - but the "crowded" feeling is overcome by the many attributes. We had a memorable evening.
This is a first class dining facility! The service, the ambiance AND especially the food were topnotch!
We recommend getting reservations at 6; it takes an hour for the restaurant to revolve 360 so you get to see the Falls in the waning daylight AND lighted up as you revolve. The scenery is incredible!
We were staying on the American side of the falls. As a special event we reserved a dinner booking at the Skylon many months in advance to secure a place as it is very popular.
The revolving restaurant offered the best views around. We arrived early for a 6pm sitting, at 540pm we were ushered up in the lift after our photographs were taken prepared to sit at the bar. On arrival upstairs however they immediately found a table at the window for us which looked down at the horseshoe falls. Awesome! The pre dinner cocktails were a nice way to start as we watched the different views as it revolved around slowly. We both had tasty starters, and then mains and desserts with some glasses of wine. The creme brulee and apple pie were delicious. The bill was over $200 for the two of us, which was no surprise as we knew beforehand it was pricey. Carparking at the site cost us $15. Nonetheless I would recommend it, for us it was a once in a lifetime experience the last evening of our Niagara Falls visit. This revolving restaurant has the best views and as a bonus we got to go up to the observation deck afterwards. We were in time to see the falls lit up in various coloured displays which were spectacular. A good evening, despite the expense. After dinner we walked along the waterfront esplanade which was still full of people enjoying the changing colored falls. For your information it is good to be there while it is still light to get some good photos, then when its dark it is a nice contrast to see places lit up, we got to witness both. We were there for three rotations before we went to the observation deck, where we took numerous photos of the multi coloured falls. Because we were staying across the border as tourists from Australia we needed to present our passports at the border control and were asked the purpose of our entry into Canada. The border crossings went without any problems.
I have been to Niagara Falls hundreds of times, but had never been to the tower for a meal. I treated my friends and daughter to a '1st' time experience. The view was spectacular and the food was great. I had made the mistake of putting my purse on the ledge while I studied the menu and when I decided what I was going to order and closed the menu, I noticed my purse was gone!....I panicked and got up and went past several tables with no luck, and told the waiter my purse was gone!....Thank you for the very honest person who was dining at the restaurant on Saturday, September 16th who turned in my purse intact.....I thought my day was ruined as all my money and cards were in my purse !......thank you again for your honesty because my purse could still have been turned in, MINUS the wallet.....I will be going again in the near future especially knowing that there is also breakfast buffet up one level.
We booked the Skylon for the view and had modest expectations of the food. What a pleasant surprise when the meals we ordered came and had a nice presentation and great taste. I had the seabass which was moist and flavorful and my husband had the tenderloin. Cooked perfectly.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant. The view is awesome from up there.
If you order a mixed drink have them put the alcohol in one glass and the mixer in another. I ordered a mixed drink and there was very little in any alcohol in it. I sent it back and requested it in seperate glasses. We've eaten there 4-5 times and like it for the most part.
Don't come if you have more than 2 people and you want to sit by the window. Don't come if you have more than 4, you will be squeezed into a table for 4 anyway. The business is too good, they don't care about your special request made in weeks' advance. Watch out for wait personnel back into your face trying to take pictures of the privileged. Way too noisy, baby crying, wait personnel fumbling; it took our waitress 10 min to find a pen to come back to our table to take order. They truly ruined our once in a life time occasion.
I was very disappointed, I wanted the Sea Bass only to find out that they Ran out and this was at 7:30 in the evening also they ran out of Duck which I was not having anyway, And this is suppose to be a great place to go for a meal and a view , I could have went to there Buffet Dinner instead
I will not being eating there anytime soon
The food was excellent, and the service was very good. We had the prime rib, and it was so delicious! The tables are quite small, but everyone gets a good view, and it was a bit on the loud side, but the ambiance was still pretty nice.
The only aspect I did not like was being forced to have our picture taken before getting on the elevator; we declined, and the girl seemed quite put out. Then when we noticed that people were being approached at their tables to pay a small fortune for cheesy photos, we were pleased that we declined.
We enjoyed our dinner and the experience at the Skylon. You get a good view of the entire area in addition to the falls. The food was good; the caramel/pecan cheesecake was amazing!
Was it "worth the price?" You won't get a view like that with the revolving room anywhere else.
Something to experience.
