Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
Skylon is a once-in-a-lifetime meal with an unbeatable view of Niagara Falls and its surroundings. The service and food are both amazing, but the ambiance of the rotating restaurant is incredible. I would not recommend this location to those who get easily motion sick and be prepared to spend upwards of $150 US dollars on an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert, not including drinks. But this is a wonderful and memorable place to dine. If you go, make sure to take your time ordering to appreciate the views.
I have been to 3 revolving restaurants and, by far, this was the worst. It isn't even a favorite. We went for NYE and the windows were fogging up so you could not even see the falls most of the time. Customers were writing messages on the windows (some even licking their fingers and then trying to write....disgusting!). Tables for 2 were too small for some of the plates on the menu. I also felt like the tables for two were packed in tight. The ambiance of the restaurant was ruined by these things. Food was overpriced and did not taste that great for a NYE dinner. I felt like this was a tourist trap and very disappointed in the experience. Not worth the price at all! Do not waste your money. Go to the CN Tower instead...way better dining experience.
We had an amazing time at Skylon! The food and ambiance was great, we had a late dinner so the 'bustle' settled down at that time. Thankfully, since we had a later dinner, there were less people in the dining area as our meal went on - this was important as there was a build up of condensation on the windows and we were unable to see the view when we first sat down. I'm not sure how the staff can counteract this effect but it was a bit frustrating at first. Our servers were very attentive and kind - we loved our Skylon glass souvenirs! The Filet Mignon was a bit pricey but worth the money (as it came with the view) and we ended our meal with the chocolate cheesecake - a bit on the sweeter side but a great end to the meal.
The dining area is a bit crowded as there is limited space to work with - if you are a party of 2, they will likely sit you by the window, though you will be a bit crammed. We requested to move to a larger booth one row back and were pleased with the bigger space without obstructing our view.
@ Skylon - Thank you for a great evening and a wonderful experience in Niagara Falls!
This was a great night. Hostess got us a table at the windows after a brief wait. Situated perfectly for fireworks at 9 pm. Food excellent. Our waiter Jim made the night fun. Prices high but with view and ability to go up to observation deck was overall a reasonable value. I do recommend this restaurant.
First off, I'll start by saying the views were amazing. The seating was a bit tight, so if you're above 6 ft prepare to be tad uncomfortable. The service wasn't bad, just slow. Given I went 630 in the evening may have something to do with it, however. The food was decent, not necessarily worth the price, but you're paying for the atmosphere. Overall, it's a nice place to go for a special occasion. I'd go again.
Service was terrible, the waiters that were serving our table were rude and obnoxious. We are tourists, not everyone in the table spoke English (my mother and grandmother don’t speak English), they were rude and had no patience, really uncomfortable for the entire family.
Not a lot of options in the menu, I ordered the pasta and it was tasteless and dry. I tried the burger and that was good, but not worth the price.
The view is amazing and you can take amazing pictures from the falls.
We had am amazing time. From the service to the food to the view, everything was perfect. Our waitress (I believe her name was Mary) was extremely welcoming And accommodating to my anxiety and letting us stay a little longer so we could see the fireworks (which unfortunately for some reason did not occur). We were more then happy with everything and will definitely return.
The space between tables are too close for a private chat. The atmosphere was not bad and the water falls, and the city view was amazing, without mention the flood was perfect!
I was celebrating my wife's birthday and unfortunately I did not received an emphatic or happy face either of celebration from the restaurant so instead be a celebration it was more a simple date. (Btw. The service very good, but again I was looking some else and my still leave a 20% of gratitude dude overall experience).
We often bring our guests from Europe to the Skylon Tower. They find it a special treat to be able to dine atop a very recognizable icon. While it can be a very busy place during high season, it is a unique and memorable experience for them. A view like no other!
Spectacular view and great ambiance, not impressed with the food, as not cooked to order, and the worse pina colada I’ve ever had. The service was very poor, no apology for my food not cooked to order, had to request silverware when main course arrived, and never saw him again after that, had to get some other server to attend to us.
In my experience, revolving restaurants have mediocre food and high prices. You pay for the view and the ambiance. This one was better than that. The food was good to very good and the prices were surprising in that the bill was lower than I expected. The only glitch was that I ordered a 10 oz glass of wine and was given a 6 oz. The bill was correct, though. I believe that the sommalier confused my order with the gentleman at the next table who ordered a 6 oz glass and got a 10 oz. No harm done, though. You can go to the observation deck two floors above the restaurant at no additional charge.
Warm, friendly people ... fair pricing ... good food ... magnificent view ... great ambiance
Since I was with the love of my life, it was pretty close to perfect.
The food was very good but overall the service was terrible! We did not realise there was a mandatory $41 charge per person to eat there because it was not on the reservation and we did not see the to be print in the menu. We did not have a problem once we realised but the server was extremely rude to us about it and then continued to be rude the whole night - even going so far as to leave our food cooling at the pick up counter until another server brought it to us. Then as we were leaving we heard the staff talking rudely about is in a group which was very unprofessional. The ambience is what we went there for and would go again only for that. I saved up to bring my sister there for her birthday and it soured our evening to be treated this badly.
This is a "must-do" destination for anyone visiting the Niagara area for the first time, particularly couples. Staff is friendly and helpful, food is good, and naturally, the view and ambiance are unparalleled, given the height and rotation. It's a bit crowded in the restaurant, as they've packed and configured chairs and tables for maximum occupancy - but the "crowded" feeling is overcome by the many attributes. We had a memorable evening.
This is a first class dining facility! The service, the ambiance AND especially the food were topnotch!
We recommend getting reservations at 6; it takes an hour for the restaurant to revolve 360 so you get to see the Falls in the waning daylight AND lighted up as you revolve. The scenery is incredible!
We were staying on the American side of the falls. As a special event we reserved a dinner booking at the Skylon many months in advance to secure a place as it is very popular.
The revolving restaurant offered the best views around. We arrived early for a 6pm sitting, at 540pm we were ushered up in the lift after our photographs were taken prepared to sit at the bar. On arrival upstairs however they immediately found a table at the window for us which looked down at the horseshoe falls. Awesome! The pre dinner cocktails were a nice way to start as we watched the different views as it revolved around slowly. We both had tasty starters, and then mains and desserts with some glasses of wine. The creme brulee and apple pie were delicious. The bill was over $200 for the two of us, which was no surprise as we knew beforehand it was pricey. Carparking at the site cost us $15. Nonetheless I would recommend it, for us it was a once in a lifetime experience the last evening of our Niagara Falls visit. This revolving restaurant has the best views and as a bonus we got to go up to the observation deck afterwards. We were in time to see the falls lit up in various coloured displays which were spectacular. A good evening, despite the expense. After dinner we walked along the waterfront esplanade which was still full of people enjoying the changing colored falls. For your information it is good to be there while it is still light to get some good photos, then when its dark it is a nice contrast to see places lit up, we got to witness both. We were there for three rotations before we went to the observation deck, where we took numerous photos of the multi coloured falls. Because we were staying across the border as tourists from Australia we needed to present our passports at the border control and were asked the purpose of our entry into Canada. The border crossings went without any problems.
