Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
I had high hopes for the Skylon Tower. The bread was cold, it took an hour to get our food, and the food was cold as well. I wasn't impressed with the value, flavor, or portion size. I've had better meals at much cheaper prices. I would have rather just paid the $12 to ride the elevator to the top.
The food was not very good. A very expensive restaurant that had poor quality food. The service was good. Our waiters where friendly and they gave us great service. I would only recommend this restaurant for the view. I would not recommend this restaurant based on the high cost.
We enjoyed the view! You pay a little more but well worth it because it cost to get to the top otherwise. We had a reservation for 7 and didn't sit until 7:35. Which turned out to be perfect timing because we saw the fireworks!!! Our server was ok, but the drink server had a great personality. Enjoyable evening with friends.
Unfortunately the building has seen better days. A dingy run down mall that hasn't been upgraded since the 70's. The service is excellent although a bit slow to get food out. The food is mediocre American continental and pricy. The view is spectacular, which after all is what you are paying for.
Firstly, when your dinner reservations is at 7:00 but you're not allowed to "check in" until 6:45 and the wait to be taken up to the restaurant takes over 30 minutes, you know you're not off to a good start.
Secondly, once we finally made it to the top and the restaurant we were made to wait again before being taken to our table.
The table we were given was tiny, cramped and akwardly positioned and barely fit my wife and I.
We asked for another table and we're told they had nothing, although we could clearly see several others open.
Unfortunately we cannot speak to the food because at that point we left, not seeing the point of giving a restaurant with a dismal service reviews anymore of our time.
However, we did walk down the street to Queen Victoria Place and had a fantastic anniversary dinner, thanks to our waitress, Maria.
There are two restaurants at this site. A buffet and a fine dining restaurant. I can't speak about the buffet and only hope that any negative comments on the web refer to this. The fine dining restaurant was excellent. While tables for two are exceptionally small in order to maximize the number of guests that may be seated next to the window, all the food that we received, as well as that of surrounding tables was beautifully prepared. The smoked salmon appetizer was delicately sliced and arranged to look like roses. Portions were generally on the large size. Wines were very reasonably priced. While most of the entrees centered on cuts of beef, the four seafood offerings were very well prepared. The lobster tail we saw served at the table next-door looked fabulous. The general facility, except for the restaurant, is dated and highly commercialized. We expected to be rushed through an expensive meal, but were pleasantly surprised to receive excellent service that matched the pace of the experience we wanted to have. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I would not hesitate to return.
This was a great place to see the falls and enjoy a sit down meal. Our lunches were really good but should have free refills on sodas for plates of $40 - $50 for fillets. Also, we did not enjoy the wait in line for the elevators. Maybe a separate section for those dining? Also, the restrooms were not clean.
We loved our 55th anniversary dinner at the revolving restaurant in the Skylon Tower - the views of the falls are amazing from such a height! As your table moves, you come to interesting historical tidbits framed along the window ledge, so it is also an educational experience. The food was quite gourmet and delicious, as was our special complimentary anniversary dessert and the champagne we ordered to go with it. Service was impeccable. It was quite busy and fun, but the noise level was moderate so we could talk and hear each other (not always possible in popular restaurants). We would recommend this place highly for anyone coming to Niagara Falls!!
I took my 78 yo mother here for her birthday. We are local and usually avoid tourist destinations, and honestly this reminded me why. But we thought we'd give it a try. The chatter around us was loud! We had a hard time hearing each other talk. But the rest of it was good. As everyone says, the view is what people go for and pay for. We each had the lamb and it was very good. But be aware, the price was $59 each, where anywhere else I would say it would be worth $25. If you are enthralled with the falls and surrounding area, then it would absolutely be worth it. And honestly, we did kind of get into the "oh whatever!" kind of mindset and we did enjoy ourselves. We also went out to the view area up stairs where the wind was crazy! LOL basically we played tourist and it was fun.
Now...the service. I have to say, the staff were all wonderful! We arrived amongst a rather large group of tourists. I had made a reservation and after check in at the base of Skyline, they obviously knew we were on our way because the hostess came right over and wisked us off to a "quieter" area (I don't think there's a quiet area, really). Then there were 2 other staff members that served us and they were very polite and accommodating, as well. So overall it was nice. Expensive but nice. IMO... as a local, I have had a much better time and much higher quality food at quieter restaurants in St Catherine's. DO DO DO say you're local. Make sure if that. Even if you're not. ;)
Nice place to gather with family/friends, the view its simply breathtaking and the service we received once we were at the restaurant was very good, we thank Julie for her excellent customer service, I just wished that the same service had been provided by the people that check you in at the lobby, rude unfriendly and probably overworked specially a so called supervisor lady, she wouldn't give us her name, but I'm writing a complain of what happened. Overall again inside restaurant very nice & pleasant. We Thank U...
