The food was great and we had a great time but the neighborhood has a high probability of car break ins. My car was broken into. Expensive repairs. SF needs to deal with this. According to the Chronicle, out of 81K break ins, only 13 arrests. Sad for the businesses.
Have been going to Skool for years, and it is a great spot for Japanese influenced Californian food with interesting & original options. Love the ambiance and service (not to mention, easy parking). My only gripe is that their menu changes very little - have seen the same dishes for 3 years now. Would be great, if they introduced some new seasonal options.
We had a fantastic brunch at Skool. We ordered the uni flan, the mushrooms, oyster shoots, house oysters, the squidbink spagettina and muscle - yummy. We has our dog with us so the patio was great, clean and comfortable. We are not SF native but taking a 35 mins drive is absolute must for food and service this great. A nice touch at the end was when they brought out some biscuits for our dog, so sweet, she liked it and we were delighted :)
A favorite place for lunch with friends. Tasty food, good service, lively atmosphere on the deck or inside the dining room.
Beautiful Asian garden, nice bar, friendly staff
Lovely space and excellent seafood
Angel is the best!!!!!! He took such FINE care of us. Be sure to ask for him.
Great customer service by the Skool team! They took care of us and definitely provided stellar customer service throughout the meal. Impressed with their menu and glad we chose this restaurant to represent San Francisco to friends not from here!
It was a beautiful day for outdoor dining. Food and service excellent. Will go again.
Host was extremely friendly and accommodating. Food was good. Drinks were good. It's not cheap.
Love this place! Great menu with so many different choices!
I was driving my cousin to SFO so she could catch the red eye after I'd done an assignment with my therapy dog in the Richmond district. So I was looking for a nice restaurant with dog friendly outdoor seating for a quick dinner midway between points A and B. Skool fit the bill. I had sent an email to make sure that arriving with my sweet black lab would not be a problem. I was assured that he would be welcome. We were not only welcomed, but informed that customers with dogs were offered the Yappy Hour cocktail menu...and believe me, the craft cocktails are pretty awesome. There is much to recommend Skool. The bar, the patio, the menu, the service - all of which were exquisite. Don't miss the baby eryngii fries, lightly battered mushrooms with an amazing aioli for dipping. I had the salad nicoise with fabulous seared tuna - YUM! My cousin had a Moscow Mule made with peach vodka that was almost too good to be true. Too bad I was driving because I'd love to sample more from the cocktail menu. I live in Marin, but by hook or by crook, I will return to Skool for the ambiance, the warm atmosphere and the amazing menu - and I'll be bringing my dog. You should too.
We've had good experiences in the past but our most recent experience had terrible service.
Great place -staff, food and drinks.
We had Sunday brunch at Skool. I have dined at Skool and had brunch there on a number of prior occasions. I ordered the omelet, which happened to be vegetarian and was very good. My friend of many years ordered the special soup. He winced at his first sip and asked me to try it. I must say it was unusual, to say the least, with kind of an Asian but vinegary flavor. I've never seen my friend send a dish back to the kitchen but the waitperson was very gracious and substituted a fruit bowl. The outdoor patio is very pleasant, particularly on one of those warm late September days in San Francisco.
Great, fresh seafood with really unique preparations. Great cocktails as well.
Great drinks, food and ambience. The squid ink spaghettini was amazing as were the deviled eggs with crab. My friend had the halibut which also looked delicious. My drink of choice was the Soprano. Definitely pricey but felt it was worth the splurge. I don't know much about the desserts as the waitress forgot to bring us that menu, but it was probably for the best!
I will be back!
Skool has both beautiful indoor and outdoor dining options. The food, drink options and service is wonderful. Dogs are welcome in the intimate outside area with water bowls provided, so bring your friends and fido for a great dining experience.
We've visited Skool about 6 times in the last 2 years, and it has always been a place we have enjoyed to celebrate with our friends and even take our kids along. While we always enjoy the food, this time we left with a huge bill and feeling underwhelmed. The serving of duck confit was puny. While it was tasty, it wasn't worth $33 for two small slivers of duck breast. We had considered this our neighborhood darling, but we aren't going back again. For the price and quality, I'd rather go someplace else.
We've been eating out a LOT lately and found the bill was a bit pricey. Def more than the $ rating by OpenTable. I've eaten here before,, great food and service, but seems prices are on average $1-2 more per dish and drink than similar establishments. $32 for small portion of halibut was painful.
The food and Ambiance was very nice. we had oysters that tasted like they were fresh out of the water. the squid ink Spaghettini was delicious. The Halibut superb and the service was very friendly. It added to our experience for a birthday.
The chef sent out a half cup of soup to give us a taste. Very tasty.
I ordered the mackerel sandwich...without bread. Threw in a little more salad and fried mushrooms with cornmeal crust...That mackerel was fabulous and the mushrooms a real surprise. Great.
Takes a long time to get lunch. 50 minutes to get food.
This was my second visit to Skool. I came with friends the first time and loved it so much that I brought my daughter this second time. She loved it too. We will both go back.
I love the patio. It's quiet and they have heat lamps if you get chilly. It is a dog friendly restaurant on the patio, and we loved being with so many furry cuties.
Very creative sea food dishes with an Asian fusion twist. Get lots of different small dishes to share.
Still one of my favorite restaurants in SF. We always order the Uni Flan, Erynggi mushrooms and Squid Ink Spaghettini. Risotto was also excellent, along with chicken wings and scallops.
Very disappointed with food quality and menu options. I felt like eating at a high school cafeteria and paying high end restaurant prices.
great location when you want to meet some one coming from silicon valley to san francisco and they do not have to brave the downtown traffic...very nice food and great looking spot and you can hear the other person!
Always a great experience. Excellent food and friendly service.
Great squid ink spaghetti. Love the soup base. But there needs to be some insecticide applied as we were confound with mosquitoes by the window. I killed at least 8 of them.
