Heads up!
In order to provide the safest work environment possible for the team on Monday, December 26, all Skillet restaurants will no longer accept cash. We gladly take Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other forms of touchless payment.

The award-winning Skillet Diner opened in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle in 2011. We’re a neighborhood joint doing our best to make the place feel relaxed, service attentive and easy; the food approachable yet focused. We use fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The style of food is similar to what we’re known for on the airstream …the difference? we have so much more room! Items range from our fennel-crusted fried chicken and waffle, to our burger with bacon jam, arugula, bleu cheese on a Macrina sodo bun with beautiful hand cut fries, to our legendary kale Caesar salad.

Seating policy: We require your whole party be present to be sat. We will hold your table for up to 10 minutes.

It pains me to write this as Skillet used to be my go to brunch spot. However, in the past few visits the food quality has declined and the dishes are no longer as tasty as they once were. This particular visit sealed Skillet’s fate with me. We ordered griddle cakes and waited an hour and ten minutes to receive sub-par pancakes. Our server was lovely and offered us fries as we waited. Even our free fries were served cold. The server was gracious enough to comp our meal and drinks. I appreciate the effort, but I want to circle back to the quality of food. I have been a loyal patron since 2019, when I discovered the Skillet Griddle cakes. They were a perfect consistency with crispy edges. They were also served with lemon zest butter and a large serving of fruit compote. The griddle cakes were so yummy that I would order them to go during the pandemic, and when in person dining resumed, I would make reservations well in advance to ensure I would have a table on the weekends. Fast forward to late 2022/early 2023: the griddle cakes are not distinctive, bland, no more crispy edges, and I was only served 3 strawberries with my 4 griddle cakes. The lemon zest butter has also gone away. My dining companion ordered the little rob and what he was served was laughable. In the “old days” he would complain it was too much food. This time around, it was sloppy, and much smaller. I am a brunch fan, and I once rated skillet’s griddle cake as the top pancake in washington. But after the past couple of visits, it has fallen off the charts. I am sad and disappointed that skillet will no longer be in my weekend rotation.

We got coffee, a scramble, and pancakes. Everything was ok, but pretty underwhelming and expensive for what it was. Our server was very kind and helpful.

I've had this place on my go-to list for quite awhile. We were seated quickly. Our server rattled off a few things while looking out the window. He seemed really busy. The food was just ok. A little bland. Nothing really stood out. Overpriced for the experience, I'd say.

Parking is a challenge. Very friendly staff and servers. There was lipstick on the coffee mug, and the server cheerfully replaced with a cleaner mug when we pointed it out.

We made a reservation for brunch just in case of the wait. Parking could be tricky but we were lucky to find a street parking spot quickly. After checking in, the staff sat us right away. It's an open kitchen with old fashioned diner style. Based on the popular pictures on Yelp, we decided to order The little rob with poutine fries, fried chicken and waffle, chilaquiles and coffees. The server was upbeat and professional. The food was delicious and comforting. Great experience and we really enjoyed it. It will be our go to place in the future.

I drove from Graham to meet my cousins from out of town for breakfast. Was expecting better seating. Too awkward where we were in the corner. Great view just awkward seats. The mimosas were over priced to taste like beer. I sent mine back. The side of bacon was $9 and overcooked. The scrambled eggs w/chees were decent.Pancakes were large but meh. My other cousin order Lox & bagel but barely any lox. I experienced it but am shocked the lines and waiting out the door. I need to know what they were ordering because I wasn’t impressed. I guess they’re more versed with the options. I say the menu needs an overhaul. Good luck on your experience.

Arrived promptly during a break from a conference to claim our 12:00 reservation and was told there would be a 15 minute wait for our table. (This was after we had been told a week prior that there was no flexibility to shrink our reservation from five to four people--instead we would lose the reservation.) We were told there was nothing they could do to facilitate tables opening up, despite the fact that we had a reservation. After twenty-five minutes we were offered five seats at the counter. We were finally seated for our reservation at 12:30 and were left half an hour to gulp down a meal that was thoroughly MEH. It's the restaurant's responsibility, if they have a reservation policy (which is administered quite inflexibly, btw), to refrain from seating so many walk-in customers that they can't honor the reservation, or to (yes, rather rudely) inform diners that there is a reservation behind them rather than leaving customers waiting for half an hour to claim a reservation. (What does a reservation MEAN, if this is how it's handled?) This was entirely incompetently managed. I will not be back and will not recommend the restaurant to others.

When seated the table next to us said they had been waiting for their food for over an hour. Once they finally got it, the man next to me said “well this wasn’t worth it, it seems like they forgot to season my food.” My husband and I got ours and it also was unseasoned. Our service was nice and we had a great service, but the food was bland and not worth $50 for two breakfast burritos.

Made reservation for inside dining. Got outdoor seating. Not a huge deal, but it was slightly windy out. Took almost 40 minutes to get our food, and it wasn’t even warm so it had been sitting there for a while. I’m normally a good tipper, but this experience was especially bad. I added no tip and they added a 20% tip themselves later on. That is absolutely not ok. I’m very disappointed because the last time I went here everything went smoothly and the food was good.
