Skates was very good except one thing. The hostess was insanely rude to me badgering me for my proof of vaccination. She was definitely doing to much! She was on the phone while also trying to assist another in person customer and yelling at me for my Covid Card. Apparently she didn't see her manager standing nearby. The manager stepped up and assisted me, even walked me to my table.
Every time that hostess seated another guest, she walked by giving me the side eye.... All I thought was woman please, you are so insignificant to me. I enjoyed my meal, view and company regardless of her nasty demeaner. Hope she finds some Christmas spirit soon before there's nothing but coal in Christmas stocking.

Skates is our go place for celebrations. Food was its usual outstanding. Eva, our server did an outstanding job with coordinating the pace of the meal and being there at the right time if something was needed. Today the view was outstanding.

My friend sent oysters back, not good.
Her fish & chips were excellent.
I ordered bib & Pt Reyes blue cheese salad….with crab added. I’m sorry to say this but it was the most pathetic looking salad. A few pecans… a few lettuce leaves NO BLUE CHEESE @ all , not even a crumb & a lump of crab. I was extremely disappointed & I’ve eaten @ Skate’s many times.

The prime rib hash we ordered turned out not to be hash but country potatoes and minimal tidbits of beef but not the prime rib as stated on the menu.
But tour waiter is very polite and addressed the issue with his manager.
Of course the ambiance is excellent!
The lobster bisque is delicious!

Table was ready when we arrived early and the location overlooking the bay, sunset and the San Francisco skyline with the Golden Gate bridge was perfect. Was surprised about proof of Covid vaccinations being Required in Berkeley restaurants. Later noticed a tiny link on the online menu Food was overpriced for quality. Salmon was over cooked and mashed potatoes were hard and cold. Felt rushed to main course. Chocolate melting cake was excellent. Best part of the meal along with the complimentary Anniversary dessert provided. Might consider returning but low likelihood. Recommendation to others would come with caution and a disclaimer.

Thanksgiving was just another day at Skates
Nothing special
Our server forgot our order but we forgave him seeing he has to work on a holiday
The menu was limited, serving sizes were ample and tasty

We were not warned that we needed to show proof of vaccination ahead of time, and fortunately we had it. Cocktails were fair. Lobster for my father was perfect, and my Ahi was also excellent. Sat on the window for a great view. Good soacig of diners and ventilation.

The restaurant was very good, but having to show my proof of vaccination just killed the pleasure. This is a horrible practice that kills freedom ! But waiters were nice and food was very fine…

We requested a window seat and the seats were positioned to take full advantage of the un-obstructed view spanning from Oakland to Marin along with all 3 bridges!

Food is always good-though kung pow calamari is missing some peanuts-maybe that's Chef's interpretation-beautifully executed and mighty tasty.
Tenderloin beef was a great composition-can do without the paper lining as it sticks to the rice.
The rainbow sushi was almost too pretty to eat.
Salmon was also very good.

Good time was had by all-thank you to the entire STAFF!

Was disappointed that the Veteran’s discount was denied in spite of the recent email of 20%. I served two years active duty in the Army between 1963&1965.

Great experience. Highly recommend the Kung pao calamari. That was by far the best dish and the key lime pie. It was really quiet when we went. It’s a great place for special occasions.

Appetizers: crab and spinach dip is a must along with their freshly baked bread to go along with it. Kung pao Calamari has the perfect spice and crunch needed. Lavender Cosmo is a must try! We had an amazing sweet very attentive waiter.

If you are looking for fine dining, you'll be disappointed.
If you are looking for a fine experience with great views, you'll be happy.

Food Quality: The dishes signal luxury - wagyu, lobster, prawns, sushi and so on. Presentations are well done. Quality, though, is unimpressive - what you might expect at a Bubba Gumps, for example. Portions are very large.

Atmosphere. Noise volume is mercifully low. The service is friendly and reasonably quick. Ocean views were nice at night, I'm sure during the day and at sundown they are spectacular.

The bill for three with appetizers but only one glass of wine came to around $225.

Plenty of parking and
capacity to handle large groups makes this a convenient place
for lots of uses

Amazing views at sunset. Took a long time to get served and big group next to us caused a big back up in the kitchen and slowed overall service. Food quality was very good, but fish slightly overdone.

Server was rather abrupt and not very friendly. For a higher end restaurant, I expected better. No bread until I requested it. Food was good, not great. But eating next to the window out in the middle of SF bay. That was great.
