Four Seasons - Nevis - Mango Ratings and Reviews
This was our second visit to Mango this week - the first was excellent. The second not so much. Service really lacking, took forever to get our food, meat (pork) over cooked. Jerk chicken incredibly small portion for the price. So disappointing after such a good first visit. Obviously the location is wonderful and the view outstanding. But the value just wasn't there on this visit.
Great spot to watch the sunset over the water, sipping a Hemingway Daiquiri. Outstanding collection of aged rum, and the Thursday 5:30 tasting/seminar is a treat. Snapper ceviche is delish. Our party had all the seafood specials, with no regrets. Flukey circumstance: the breeze died out completely just before a rain shower, and suddenly we were engulfed by gnats, small flies, and noseeums. We moved to sit under a ceiling fan, which provided a little relief. With the rain, the breeze returned, and the bugs disappeared. Still enjoyed our experience, and would happily go again.
Great ambiance, food, service, etc. The view was breathtaking and the service was immaculate! Would recommend to everyone! Top of the line staff, the chef was very humble. We told him how great the food was as he came out to check on us and he with no hesitation gave all the praise to his team! What a leader! Kudos to Mango it was Great!
Rum pairing dinner - at sunset... what a unique concept! We were greeted by Camilla, our hostess for the evening, who would guide us through the dinning experience... and happens to also be the manager of the restaurant and a self taught rum connoisseur! It was her idea to turn the 100+ rum selections at Mango's into a spectacular pairing experience... and she has succeeded! I must profess that my knowledge of rums is limited... So this was a great opportunity... and Camilla gave us an excellent background on each pairing including the rum and special food selection. Literally everything was outstanding along with a spectacular sunset. This was our second dinning experience on this trip at Mango... the first was also excellent (love the sweet corn bread). Note that this is a completely open air restaurant so prepare with bug repellant (available in your room if you forget yours). Some reviewers have expressed surprise with negative ratings.. Really? This is a tropical island... there will be mosquitoes! FYI... Thee is also a separate rum only tasting available. And make sure you arrive early enough to see the spectacular sunset. On a final note, what really makes this resort outstanding is the professional and courteous staff... something we enjoyed everywhere on property!
We would return to Nevis just to eat here, we liked it so much! The location, great view, fresh food and friendly service was the highlight of our stay at The Four Seasons Nevis. We dined at Mango three times during our stay and the third visit topped them all. Cisca was our server and was great!
The appeal of Mango for us was the fresh fish options that are simply grilled with seasonal veggies. It's a combination that is tough to beat. Red snapper was in season during our visit, and we just couldn't get enough. Mango delivered on all points, with exceptional food, outstanding service and a view that is unmatched. And if you like rum drinks, the Spicy Turtle is a must-try!
Michelle was our server and she was a delight.
An amazing place to eat. We had a table right on the calm water, and watched a 4 foot barracuda chase after silverfish in the night spotlight. The trio of ceviche was divine. For the lump crab mango appetizer, they ran out of crab and, alas, substituted with huge chunks of lobster!! Chef Max came out to talk to us about all of his delicious cooking, and the wait staff was pure hospitality with smiles all around. Just magnificent.
This was a wonderful dining experience. First dining experience, I was solo. It was such a beautiful sunset. The wait staff was excellent and the food was AWESOME! I had the riblets, which were wonderful! The second visit, (in a four day stay) I had a guest with me. We ordered cocktails, appetizer and seafood. The dinner was, again, delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation!
Book an early table at Mango's to take advantage of one of the most fantastic sunset views anywhere in the world. It was unbelievable. And the food and service is awesome too. Tamarelle was our server and she was warm and knowledgable. We started with some of Kendie's great cocktails - my dinner guest raved about the Spicy Turtle. We enjoyed Lobster Fritters and Diver Scallops as appetisers and then we had the Catch of the Day, simply prepared and excellent flavour. All and all, a wonderful evening.
Great food....ok service. The view and location are great. Service was awful. After ordering and being served we never saw our waitress again. We asked three servers for a desert menu and it never came. Finally a full 50 minutes later we caught the attention of a server and requested a check.
Delivered 2 entrees and 2 appetizers for 4 of us at the same time. Had to wait additional 45 minutes for 2 more entrees and finally left the restaurant. Manager tried to make it right by brining the plates to our rooms but food was cold and we were out of the eating mood. If I were managing the manager I would have suggested to offer the guests the food in the room or take the 2 entrees off the bill. We would have chosen to take the meals off the bill since we did not eat them anyway. Too bad because the location and atmosphere on the patio 20 feet from the Carribean is amazing. Just goes to show what a difference how poor service can take away from great food in a fantastic location.
This was a fantastic dining experience. The views and open-air setting at the water’s edge are unbeatable. The walk
to the restaurant is also lovely from the main Four Seasons resort area. Excellent, attentive service, delicious dinner.
Recommend going early enough to see the sunset!
This was our 4th or 5th time at this restaurant and the service has gone down hill since the last time we dined in 3/2013. We waited for someone to come over to the table for 20+ minutes and finally tracked someone down to order drinks, 10 min later someone arrived to take the order.
My mahi mahi, a local fish, was horribly overcooked and the side dish on the snapper was inedible. No one ever came over during the entire dinner to check on us. After dinner we told the manager of the bad fish and inedible side and she just shrugged her shoulders.
We cancelled our reservation for 3 nights later. Too bad, the location and setting is amazing but there are too many good options on Nevis to put up with bad service and poor food.
