The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was bland. I ordered steak and eggs with hash browns and my hash browns was a left over baked potato that they did t even bother to cut up. I ordered my son the chicken tenders and fries they were over fried, hard to bite and extremely crunchy. Only good items were the apple fritters and hush puppies.

We had a wonderful experience at DC’s first fire house. Cool place.

I've been here a couple times before, but this was the first time I've had an issue with service. Drink refills were slow and food came out in a much longer window than previous. A friend has to catch a train and she nearly missed it from food. I know this is a good spot-- hope this time was an anomaly.

Great brunch! We shared the apple fritters and steak and eggs. Plenty for two people with bottomless mimosas

The service was great, we loved her. I can't remember her name. The coctail that she recommended was very good too. Thanks to her.

Disappointed. Some of the hushpuppies in our appetizer were runnie in the center. Runnie, not just undercooked. The entrees, scallops and pork loin, were fine, but could have used more seasoning like say salt. The main reason they get a 3 is for dessert. What they advertised as peach cobbler was actually cooked peaches in a small skillet with oatmeal sprinkled on top. Not a cobbler; not even a crumble; not at all sweet. My husband wouldn't let me complain, otherwise I would have. Not worth the trip from Woodley.

We went on a quiet, rainy Friday night. Visiting from the Midwest. 2adults, 2 kids age 9 & 10. Service a bit slow, slow to greet us. Slow to take our order. Had the cauliflower app, it was great. Cheese dip appetizer greasy. Dinner order was ok. Hubs had filet and I had Rock fish. Small portions. Overall atmosphere was pretty dead. We ran out of water and had to flag waitress down for more. Overall it was ok. Nothing to write home about. Overall disappointed as the description as the first fire station seemed fun. 🙁

My friends and I were celebrating a birthday . This restaurant was recommended by Open Table when we couldn't get a reservation at Salt Line. We arrived on time and we were promptly seated. That's when the service stared to decline. Although our server was friendly, her table service was very poor. We waited way too long have our orders taken and even longer to receive our entrees. She never returned to check on us, and I had to actually get up and asked another server for additional salad dressing. This was all surprising because the dining room had plenty of empty tables. After we finished dinner we sat their with used dishes in front of us. Finally, I requested and signed the check as I stood by the bar. This was certainly not service we expected.

Food was excellent! I love that they use local farmers & bake their own bread. You could taste the freshness in the food. A place that I would definitely patronize again on future trips in the area.

This was so convenient for us being two minutes away from our accommodation. We enjoyed our meals very much and were pleased we had chosen to eat in an old fire station. It was lovely and cool inside but the outside space looked very pleased.

Bottomless brunch was delicious! Everyone was very satisfied with their meals & the food came out in record fast timing. They let us sit for the full two hours of drinking even after we had finished our food. Definitely will be back again!

I had been here before but ate at the bar downstairs. This was the first time eating upstairs. The ambiance was fine, service was amazing and the food was a big surprise. Lots of healthy options and the kitchen staff was willing to slightly modify our entrees to accommodate our dietary restrictions

I was in DC this week on business and was looking for a place that had a variety on the menu, close to a metro station and, reasonably priced. This was definitely it. Everyone in my party enjoyed their drinks and meals. I have never been in a restaurant that serves homemade potato chips as you wait for your meal; that was a tasty bonus.

Sixth Engine is great for Happy Hour. Loud and fun crowd. Unfortunately, the downstairs inside dining area is just as loud. Upstairs is usually great, but was not available because of an event that reserved the space.

Sat outside just so we could hear each other across the table. Was hot and humid, but the good food and great service made up for it. I'll be back!

Didn't know what to expect at Sixth Engine, but it was evident that this place takes their food seriously. Everything was better than expected and I didn't hear any complaints from our party of 7. On the contrary, the food was very good to great and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Good spot for pre event dinner for Verizon Center as its only a 10 minute walk.

We very much enjoyed our Sunday brunch. The apple fritters were delicious, the menu had a nice selection of brunch choices and we enjoyed our selections. The setting in an old firehouse is near and the service was good. They had a kids menu which was helpful for our kids. Looking forward to returning sometime soon.

One of our frequent go to spots for dinner but a long time since we had brunch there. Nice variety on menu and we all loved the Apple Fritters and HushPuppies shared. Great outdoor dining that we hope to enjoy one day when it is not too hot!

We enjoyed the Sunday brunch for my son's 21st birthday. The bottomless mimosas are a steal, and the Apple fritters were to die for (we ordered a second helping). Our waiter was great and filled us in on the history of the place. The stairs were a little tricky for my mother in law. Besides that, the only other downside was that when I made my Open Table reservation, it said a reservation for 8 wasn't available, only 7. But we were seated at a table for 8, empty chair and all...

Food wasn't anything worth returning for. The pork pasta dish was disjointed, salty, and sitting in broth. The pasta itself was tasteless so to make up for it the chef over seasoned an oily broth with 4 small pieces of meat. Although a nice looking historic restaurant and friendly staff - not worth a second trip.

Unfortunately, I was really disappointed on my first trip to this restaurant. The two positives were the wine and the hostess, who accommodated an extra person in our party. Things went downhill from there, however. The restaurant didn't seem all that busy, but our server was largely MIA. It took forever for drinks to arrive, and he never came back to ask how our meal was. That might have been a good thing, as it wasn't very good. I had the cavatelli, which was utterly flavorless, except for the overly bitter taste of the greens. My dining partners had the po boy and they were also unimpressed. I didn't even eat 1/2 of my dish, and the server didn't ask at all why I was sending back all of my food. Very sad, as I was looking forward to trying this place for a while - it's in a great location, and the ambiance inside is quite nice, and the wine list is great! But if you have a small menu, and you can't execute it well, I'm worried about your longevity in the DC market.
