My waiter, Dan, an assistant sommelier was wonderful. The service overall with his team was memorable. I did the extended chef’s tasting, which actually seemed like almost too much food (not a criticism, as usually tasting menus leave me still a bit hungry afterward). The food was beautifully presented, some courses better than others as can be expected. There were some things that threw me. The mid-level wine pairing was $350 for the extended menu. For that money, DO NOT give me an experimental production. DO NOT give me a beer (even if it is Belgian style and delicious). DO NOT give me a Bordeaux from 2013 and say that it was a “difficult year but this is the best chateau from the vintage in the region”. DO NOT say that if I want a list of the wines, to give my email address on a little card, and then don’t email it to me. DO NOT say that the chef wanted to come out and meet me but he isn’t able to (this was said without any inquiry from me, just offered up, which was curious because I was there for almost 3 hours, and he couldn’t come out? Was there a “disturbance in the kitchen a la Curb Your Enthusiasm?). Again, overall good, but for $750 for one person, this was awkward. Will be back, at some point.
Ok.... we did go to a restaurant inside a Trump Tower during a tough time in politics. But wouldn’t change a thing!
Lunch prix fix is always a great option for 2 stars. Our experience was pretty excellent. 6 courses 6 wine pairings! $85 and $50. Totally worth it for the service and attention to detail. The only thing I noticed- white napkin on my black pants. Otherwise- attentive, accommodating with my food concerns. Did awesome! Extra wine pour when needed. :)

Outstanding meal. Food was unexpectedly superb. Enjoyed the chef's tasting menu and wine pairings. Strongly recommend. The servers could use a few more Hospitality courses -- they're a little rough around the edges, but the pacing of the meal and the attentiveness was spot on.
I celebrated my 15th wedding anniversary with my wife at the 16 restaurant, here's my experience. The Sixteen is a very elegant restaurant, quite with a spectacular ambiance. Upon arriving I asked for a window seat and was denied despite the fact that there was a window seat available and it reminded available all while we were there. The waiter brought out a Champagne cart and we selected the Krug Rose. Next we ordered the Kaluga Caviar. For dinner we ordered 2 Chefs Selection and 2 Extended Cru Wine Pairing. The service was great up until the waiter brought out our first glass of wine before the entree. When I asked him about it, I detected a slight attitude in his tone that he immediately corrected after I explained to him my reasoning for asking (with a slight attitude). I wasn't pleased with the way most of the wines tasted nor about the fact that 70% of the wines we're white wines. The food, although finger size was good and each plate was gorgeously displayed. Midways through our meal another couple who didn't have dinner reservations had strolled in and wanted access to there observation patio. My wife and I watched as the staff explained to this couple that it was currently unavailable. We wouldn't have seen this had we've been given the available window seat. Now we are 4 entrees from completion and drunk form wine before we decided that we can't eat anymore and that we should call it a night. We asked for the bill and to my surprise it was $1494.11 plus $300.00 for the tip. My advice is this, if money is no issue then you can order whatever 16 offers without care. If money is an issue, then you should be careful in the 16. 16 isn't the type of restaurant where you want to ask "how much is this?" everytime your waiter suggests something. But you should know that it cost to eat there. My wife and I had a great time and I'll do it again. We watched a guy take to a knee and proposed to his woman (I thought that was funny).
Had a party of four for my daughter's birthday. We went in knowing the price (not inexpensive) and had one of our finest meals and celebrations in a long time. A fantastic tasting menu with excellent pairings and a somm with deep knowledge and more than a little personality. Service was top notch and the views of Chicago lovely. A very special night with no regrets or tweaks. A tremendous experience.
Don't go there if hungry. Yes you get like six courses but everyone is very small plus it costs a lot for food that's pretty and unusual and while good just very small portions. No way would I believe Trump eats meals like that Spend your money at a good chop house or the Signature Room.
Outstanding ambiance and view - I chose the extended tasting menu option and I was not disappointed. Every course was amazing! The chef also kindly produced a special dish for myself and other patrons who were dining at the time - seared foie gras, a delicacy. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special night out.
The restaurant is fantastic, but know that price is the determining factor hands down on going here. A simple breakfast was over $100 for 2. Do not mistake me, the service, the ambiance, the decor and certainly the location are all amazing, but this is not for everyone. We decided to try it instead of some other entertainment options that could have cost about the same. So if you are totally able to do up-up-up scale, go for it! Want to blow the budget and treat yourself, go for it! I will say I loved it but that was a one time deal until I can afford something like that regularly.
What you get for the high prices isn't really worth it. I ordered the avacado toast with salmon and half the toast was burnt black. Told the waiter and nothing was done to send out a new one or apologize. My spouse had eggs Benedict which he said was "OK" and my toddler had some scrambled eggs. We also ordered coffee which comes out in a pot and the bill came to over $100 without tip. The service was ok and the view was nice but not a place I would go back to for breakfast. Maybe I will try out their dinner sometime.
Each course was creative. Caviar was excellent. Overall was below average of Michelin 2-star restaurants. Chef's cooking skill is fair; such as, the wagyu beef was bitter and black on top; also, ingredient skill was fair; such as, the eggplant tasted strange. Tableware was normal. Interior decoration was ordinary.
Sixteen has something really special going on; the current core group (executive chef, pastry chef, sommelier and general manager) are all fairly new in their respective roles at Sixteen. IMHO my two recent meals exceeded my previous meals at Sixteen under Chef Lents. The extended tasting menu is leisurely and features a wonderful progression with top quality, super fresh ingredients that are almost always perfectly executed and artistically presented (across two meals only a single course out of approximately two dozen was a miss and several were phenomenal). Bread service and ample mignardises ensures you will leave satiated. Service is attentive, polished and luxurious without being stuffy - despite the elegant ambiance the staff is so personable and greatly enhances the overall experience. The wine pairings might be the best in town. The dining room itself is luxurious but comfortable and with amply spaced tables and gorgeous views. While dinner here is expensive, for those willing to splurge Sixteen is well worth it and is currently among the top few restaurants in Chicago.
Exquisite food, very artfully presented and served by a team that exudes sophistication without snobbery and that demonstrates a cheerful willingness to accommodate every request. The caliber of cooking here is really quite extraordinary. Along with such an elegant room, personable staff, and broad wine list, everything is in place for a very memorable evening.
The worst brunch ever.the food was ok but the service, omg, horrible, never They came to check the table, they did not explain anything about the menu, the waitress just did not do her job, paying $ 110 for a Father's Day brunch for this? I will not go back any more
