Sixteen - Trump Hotel Chicago Ratings and Reviews
The New Years Eve menu had a price increase over the advertised menu price when I booked the reservation. I was made aware of this change two nights before via a phone call from the restaurant. At that point it was too late to change. I was not happy about this but not much I could do. Besides that, our experience was very good. Service is outstanding. I can't say enough about the staff there were excellent. Dan, our sommelier, was especially helpful. My husband and I enjoyed almost all of the courses. The cauliflower in one course was significantly under cooked and one side that was very salty. The view was beautiful and we were able to see the fireworks from our table. It was a lovely experience.
Not much to say. The food was not worth recounting. There were a few items but far and few. This food tasted like I was at Schwa.
Not a fan.
We had a great bottle of wine from Wren Hop vineyard. We wanted another. No more.
The fact that we were also placed in the dead zone room, in the middle of the floor didn’t help.
Perhaps all the hype about 16 just didn’t live up to it.
The service and ambiance was top notch. We had Christmas brunch here on the 25th and the kids loved the reindeer on the roof. Santa and Mrs. Clause were way too young and other obvious things tipped off our 2 and 4 yr old, that they were not the real deal. I would hope that next year they hire proper, much older, more authentic Clauses. The personal gifts for the children, wrapped so cute, were very thoughtful and unexpected. The food was just average. We are hoping for a more creative menu for next Christmas. All in all, we will be back and would recommend Sixteen. You need to just think of the brunch more as an overall experience rather than just a meal, bc the food alone wouldn't make the price worth it. Oh, the harpist was a classy touch we all enjoyed as well.
There was no reply to the mail.
We ordered Chef's Extended Menu by 4 people.
The drinks were a bottle of rose Champaign and a bottle of Syrah wine, Cucumber and Mint, diet coke.
$ 1,940.49 (Includes gratuity) for four person.
There was no caviar on the top for Ossetra Caviar | Native Potatoes | Haucatay for one person.
Sanshö | Brassica Tempura | Wasabi was fried too hot and burnt.
we needed to find a server occasionally.
As there were few other customers, we wanted them to prepare a table of four people on the window side.
I proposed to my fiance on my birthday. I contacted Adam from the Sixteen one week before the date, and he's really helpful in organizing our special day. The scene is beautiful, you can't find a better place that can see the night view of the river. The food is fantastic with great design. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. I am so glad that I chose the Sixteen for my most important decision in my life, and she said YES!
Ambiance is like no other just very sophisticated ! Spectacular view of chicago ! Not everyone could just dine here with $175 pp minimum . Food is what I would say different and challenging ! Tiny little portions that touch every taste buds. And in between courses 1 slice of bread which is what ends up filling you up... the deserts were very good! One time dinner adventure.
We did a 5 course tasting menu for lunch, which was very delicious. Portions are very small, but done to perfection, and the service was impeccable. The outside seating during the summer looks amazing (it was not open when we ate in December). Wine room and list is very impressive.
Had a wonderful experience from the greet at the door to dessert. I have to commend my server David U, there is a certain expectation when dining at a Michelin Star Restaurant. However David’s professionalism and clear knowledge of the menu and wine definitely made our night exceptional and exceeded that expectation.
Superb meal every course was a taste Delight. The wine list is quite extensive and also eclectic so we would recommend you download it first to choose your wines before going in. Service was just superb. The views of Chicago are excellent. And the entire restaurant has a chic and stylish feel yet quite cozy and welcoming. A good Midwestern feel with International Quality food.
The staff took care of us very well through each course. They explained about the three chefs and their background when asked. We were celebrating our anniversary and couldn’t have been more happier. The 4 star rating was only given as they didn’t note down our allergies when they called to confirm our reservation. Apart from the minor hiccup everything went splendid.
My waiter, Dan, an assistant sommelier was wonderful. The service overall with his team was memorable. I did the extended chef’s tasting, which actually seemed like almost too much food (not a criticism, as usually tasting menus leave me still a bit hungry afterward). The food was beautifully presented, some courses better than others as can be expected. There were some things that threw me. The mid-level wine pairing was $350 for the extended menu. For that money, DO NOT give me an experimental production. DO NOT give me a beer (even if it is Belgian style and delicious). DO NOT give me a Bordeaux from 2013 and say that it was a “difficult year but this is the best chateau from the vintage in the region”. DO NOT say that if I want a list of the wines, to give my email address on a little card, and then don’t email it to me. DO NOT say that the chef wanted to come out and meet me but he isn’t able to (this was said without any inquiry from me, just offered up, which was curious because I was there for almost 3 hours, and he couldn’t come out? Was there a “disturbance in the kitchen a la Curb Your Enthusiasm?). Again, overall good, but for $750 for one person, this was awkward. Will be back, at some point.
Ok.... we did go to a restaurant inside a Trump Tower during a tough time in politics. But wouldn’t change a thing!
Lunch prix fix is always a great option for 2 stars. Our experience was pretty excellent. 6 courses 6 wine pairings! $85 and $50. Totally worth it for the service and attention to detail. The only thing I noticed- white napkin on my black pants. Otherwise- attentive, accommodating with my food concerns. Did awesome! Extra wine pour when needed. :)
Celebrating our 10th dating anniversary was amazing and would recommend to anyone!!!!
Outstanding meal. Food was unexpectedly superb. Enjoyed the chef's tasting menu and wine pairings. Strongly recommend. The servers could use a few more Hospitality courses -- they're a little rough around the edges, but the pacing of the meal and the attentiveness was spot on.
