I was not able to dine at Sissy's because it is apparently closed for renovation. Open Table should have informed me of this, instead of thanking me for making a reservation...I drove all the way there to find out that the restaurant was closed. Further, Sissy's website should have some sort of message relating to this closure as well.
Disappointing. Party of 9 and first reservation on a Sunday. Waiter was essentially nonexistent. Took forever to greet table and take drink order then even longer to order food. Waiter seemed to disappear for long periods and did not refill drinks, ask if we needed anything, or replace silverware. We think he knew he was getting an automatic 20% tip for party size and did not need to service our table. Some entrees were cold (crab cakes) but had already waited over 1.5 hours for food. Others enjoyed their dishes. Will not return because of abysmal service.
Yummy, tasty food.. a bit pricey, but worth it. Loud atmosphere.
Overall it was fun to try Sissy's out! The food is soul food and it all looked and smelled tasty!
Best fried chicken in Dallas - we have been a few times and quality is always excellent
We are the only table that waited over an hour for our food. The server did not explain what was going on. Drinks took a long time to arrive. Horrible experience
It's a very cute restaurant and the food is good but not excellent and it was so noisy (we were seated on the enclosed patio) we had to yell to talk to each other. Service was fine considering it was very busy. I had been looking forward to trying the fried chicken and it was good -juicy and the breading had a good amount of spice. The waffle was very ordinary.
The food was okay for all of us, not particularly outstanding, however. Our reservation was for 11AM. We arrived at 11 and doors were locked then waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Service was terrible......food fairly slow in arriving, then had to seek out coffee refills, condiments, water refills and finally ask for our check. It was a fairly busy morning but not all the tables were full and no line to speak of. Probably will not be returning nor will my friends. Very disappointed.
Best fried chicken I've ever tasted !
We loved it.... it was highly recommended from local people... I came with 2 friends from San Diego and New York and food and cocktails were simply delicious !
Amazing service by our waitress, Miranda and the bartender. The hostess, on the other hand, forgot about us. We had a 730 reservation and were told they were cleaning a table off for us. We didn't get sat till 8 and that was after I went and complained to the hostess. She had completely forgotten about us. It would have been understandable if it was a crazy busy night but the restaurant was maybe 75% full tonight. Otherwise, all other parts were outstanding!!!
Food was great! A bit spendy, but fun place to go.
The fried chicken was as good as ever and am looking forward to the leftovers. Collard greens were really good as were mashed potatoes. Boudin balls perfect app. My only complaint was that the music was so loud you practically had to shout to be heard. Good music but obnoxiously loud. Lower the music and the ambiance would be better.
Great food. Friendly and attentive service. Best Fried chicken ever.
Good Food and Good drinks. Went for my mom's birthday and the service was great
They weren't open - their website says Tuesday- Friday- open table allowed me to book a reservation - and the doors were locked at 11:45 am -
Server was great but place was so understaffed that he couldn't physically keep up with all tables. Other than that everything else was great
The food was great. The service however was terrible. We spoke to the owner who apologized for the bad service and told her we would be back. We have been here previously and had excellent service.
There was a table of young ladies who were extremely loud. So loud that you couldn't here yourself talk over them and Two tables asked to be moved.
I was very disappointed that the staff didn't say anything to them. The loudness put a damper on our evening with friends because we couldn't here.
Good food but very chaotic night at sissy's!
Service was very poor, so disappointed . Waiter never ask my parents if they wanted a drink. We had to go to the bar ourselves for drinks.
My husband I chose Sissy's for date night this week and it was wonderful. The food, the ambiance, the drinks, the food, the decor...and did I mention the food! Great "date night" or "girlfriends night out" restaurant.
Staff was short. This used to be a really good place we would visit often but the service has gone down.
Sissys is one of my favorite restaurants and my visit Friday night was the worst. Our server was not interested in being our server. The table next to us received food first even though they ordered after us, the two orders of cream biscuits never came I had to remind him of the biscuits his response was "they never came" no I'm sorry just an awful experience. We ordered two collard greens only one came. He checked on us twice and the second time was to pick up the check. This was my birthday celebration and our server killed the evening. I will be back but I will make sure he is not our server.
We made our reservation for restaurant week and was disappointed soon arriving to find that they had pulled out of the program. However, we still had an incredible meal and our service was top of the line! We will be back!
Awesome food. Best fried chicken I've ever had. Amazing squash puppies. Wonderful service. Our server overheard us saying it was our friend's b-day, and brought her dessert out with a candle. Nice touch. Very impressed overall and we'll be back!
We made a reservation for brunch and arrived on time. However, half our group cancelled. The restaurant had no issues adjusting the reservation and table to accommodate us. We waited a very long time to get a server to help us but after I finally got someone's attention, the server was great! He stepped up and handled our table with attention and detail. I was disappointed that there was no chicken breast left for the chicken and waffles but I understand these things do happen on occassion. The food is good but overpriced in my opinion. All in all, pleasant experience.
Overpriced food and subpar service. Not worth the hype.
Terrible experience all around. The restaurant was dirty, the food was completely bland and cold because it took so long for our waiter to bring it out. They got our drink order wrong.
The waiter never checked up on us - never got a refill on our drink even though we had asked several times. Had to ask four times to get our check and still didn't get it until we got up and found our waiter after sitting and waiting for 20 minutes to get the check.
There was nothing redeeming about this place.
We went to Sissy's for the first time last night and had a fantastic dinner. It was crazed when we got there - Open Table had messed up and double booked several tables. The owner, an awesome woman who later stopped by our table for a chat, was taking care of it personally. Our waiter kept us up to date on our food and checked in on us frequently, which impressed me because of the aforementioned craziness.
The food itself was delicious. The devilled eggs with curry were really good and a twist on a favorite. I don't eat fried food very often, but the 2 piece fried chicken dinner was totally worth the indulgence. Thick, super crispy breading with buttery, tender meat. My husband's chicken fried steak was great - it's his favorite dish, and he said this one was one of best he's had in Dallas. Our friends had the shrimp & grits with positive reviews and the pork chop, which was a massive double cut, juicy and yummy. So massive that he actually didn't join the rest of us in a piece of the Better Than Sex Chocolate Cake, which was pretty epic. A *large* piece of chocolate sheet cake topped with warm chocolate sauce, peanut butter sauce, and real cream. Another indulgence that was more than worth It!
We'll definitely be returning to sample the rest of the menu. For now, my suggestions are to make reservations for peak times and bring a big appetite so you can spoil yourself a little!
A very enjoyable evening. Food was good and service was great. First time at Sissys and was not disappointed. Fried green tomatoes were wonderful!
Always a winner. Love the attention to detail and the service is always great. A perfect compliment to down home southern food.
We went to Sissy s because we had made a reservation for Restaurant Week. We were very disappointed that it had dropped out of participation with no notification to reservation holders. It really is not special or enough without participation in a charity event. The menu is the same as when we last visited several years ago. Food and service were good, but no surprises.
We came to Sissy's for a team dinner after a trade show day. The bucket of fried chicken was perfect...I managed to get my favs, a leg and wing, so crispy and delicious. The grits, fried okra and mashed potatoes and gravy were all delish. Our server and bussers were all so nice and great service. If you're looking for southern comfort and a great atmosphere, this is it.
I was a bit surprised during my visit to this restaurant. It had so much promise and the atmosphere and service was excellent but they were out of everything. They were out of two entrées and two or three of the side items and this was at lunch time.
We had some of the best fried chicken I've tasted in a long time. The gumbo was good but more spicy than flavorful. The service was great because we got there before it opened. The environment is a re gentrified areas. The reason why we won't be going back is because there is not disabled parking nearby or in front of the building and considering this is a hip and happening area traffic get heavy and not a good way to treat those with disabilities. If one doesnt spend the money to valet park in this area, paid parking is very limited.
We have been to Sissys several times, service this time was very slow, we had reservations, but still had to wait 15 minutes for our table and then another 15 minutes to get our drinks. We will still go back but feel they need more servers!
Lisa Garza went above and beyond for us. As always the food and drinks were incredible, Steven was an outstanding server...an awesome birthday celebration!
Always love the food and vice at Sissy's! Their fried chicken and waffles are the best in DFW and I love that you get a choice of cream or brown gravy.
Having never been to Dallas I have to say I would go back simply to visit Sissy's again.
The BEST friend chicken we have ever had.
Wonderful drinks and a waiter who knew what he was doing.
