Sir Winston's Aboard The Queen Mary Ratings and Reviews
This old school restaurant makes you feel like your sitting with Royalty in the 1940s. You can feel the presence of Winston Churchill from the ambience of this quiet, dark, and luxurious restaurant with phenominal views of the Long Beach harbor. We have the oysters for appetizer, they were ok, then with had the Chateau Filet for dinner, and it was amazing. Cooked to medium rare perfection.
Went to celebrate a birthday. We had a lovely table at the windows. We prefer early dining and watched the harbor go from daylight to dark as we dined. The view is very nice. The service was excellent and discrete. The Chateaubraiand was amazing! We had the Grand Marnier soufflé for dessert, which was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Amazing beef Wellington. Quiet, just great. Very quiet ambiance, we could hear each other! Best steaks, and we are foodies bigtime...it is a dated atmosphere if you’re used to trendy, hotspots but, if you remember the good ole days when you could actually go on a date and hear each other then, you’ll appreciate it.
We love Sir Winston's and hope the Queen Mary is able to stay open for many years to come. This is our special occasion restaurant. The service and atmosphere are always impeccable. Our bill for five people was $335 plus tip, ouch, but worth it for my daughter's birthday. I do wish there were vegan options on the menu, it's very heavy on the meat and I'm trying to eat plant-based now without always being stuck with salads.
The cool factor here is the location aboard the boat. The food was so so, as was the service. Don't go here for the food, go for the experience. If you've never seen it, its fun to walk around the boat, and explore. We also stayed in one of the cabins overnight. Creaky and noisy, but that was expected. Just cool to think the Royals, and Churchill spent some time there. Not blown away, but a nice experience just the same.
The service was outstanding.
The food is what one would expect from a nice restaurant.
The atmosphere was set beautifully.
I was impressed by the friendly service, as many nicer restaurants have less-than-friendly service. However, this place has a staff which is absolutely fantastic and made the meal enjoyable.
From the very start the service was exceptional it didn't stop. The atmosphere was quiet with soft lighting. The other guests were well mannered and kept low tone. I saw no children and was glad of that. It is up scale yet casual attire is acceptable. The food was wonderful and every bit as expected of a 5 star rating. I would highly recommend Sir Winstons for any special occasion or a nice sit down date night dinner.
The bisque was wonderful but the nights special which I ordered, surf & turf, both very chewy and tough and the steak was almost raw and I ordered medium. I would say that being it was Christmas Eve I give them some allowance. My husband really enjoyed his entree.
Though the walk to the restaurant is both long and has unavoidable stairs, the space is lovely. This is an old school place. Very quiet with plush chairs and a continental menu. I've brought my mom here for Mother's Day and for this Christmas Eve. This was a lovely experience. The service was great, as was the food. We had a great time and had an amazing view. Lovely place.
This has become a yearly event for us on Christmas Eve. The Queen Mary is an elegantly worn -around- the -edges ship, made during a time when painstaking attention to detail was just how you did things. Especially British luxury liners. We enjoy stepping back in time for a wonderful dining experience. The servers are professional, very attentive and the food is a reflection of the past ambience and class of this ship. We get the Chateaubriand for 2, marvelous.
Terribly overpriced yucky food. We had beef Wellington, the pastry was blackened and the gravy taste off...
We also ordered surf & turf ($70 plate) which was just okay. Service is excellent. Bread & Butter was good. Absolutely would not go back. Walk around the boat for free & maybe get a cocktail if you want to sit a while....
Jesus and his assistant service was outstanding. They made my birthday a very special event for my guess and myself. We were greatful for his patience as we custom our dinner. We were able to enjoy our lobster dinner with either sear ahi mahi or scallops. I really, fell in love with my cheese cake and strawberry birthday cake...the writing on the plate was clever. Thank you, for making my 50th birthday a very special evening!
The food was just O.K. for the price, The lobster bisque was warm and maybe a little to rich.
The $41 New York was not a great cut and was not cooked to my request.
The Stuffed Shrimp was poorly prepared and difficult to eat.
The Queen Mary in general is kind of Run Down
