Sir Winston's Aboard The Queen Mary
Absolutely over-priced. Amount of food on plate was ridiculously and shamefully limited.
Also, salads and glass of wine WAY over-priced.
I had to wait for almost 1 hour before my friend and I were seated even though I had a reservation. I know it was a Christmas evening, which is one of busiest times, but the management should have spaced out between reservations. Their excuse of getting late was people were not leaving after meals. Over bookings in case of no shows; they were greed to make more money on Christmas day while they were at home having partying, but all food service workers were busy as hell.
Very Good Food and cool location
We had a reservation for over a month for dinner for 7 people. When we arrived on time we were told that our table was not ready, we waited for 45 min.
The table was in the back with a lovely view of a parking structure. The soup was so salty it was Not edible a problem our waiter told us they were having As many other tables sent the soup back. The prime rib was overcooked and very fatty. The waiter tried his best despite all of this.
Considering the price of this meal for seven people we definitely will never go back .
Excellent Christmas dinner with a fixed price menu. Good choices for a four course dinner.
The special Christmas meal was fantastic! Our server was wonderful. Wilfredo❤️
The food was good however not exceptional. The Lobster bisque was the most notable item on the Christmas menu. The salmon cooked well, but then for the experience was underwhelming. The Prime Rib the same. I ordered Medium PRib and the first piece was pretty well done and a bit tough, the second was cooked correctly, but also a little tough, it was eatable but not a "mouth explosion". So as a foodie, I expected more. The overall experience being on the Queen Mary was lovely.
Mechanical service had to return both main courses one not rare the other not an end cut salad not anything special lobster Bisque was great. The meal was over priced for what it was $79.00 a person tasted like poor hotel food. We have been to this restaurant long ago & had a much better experience with the food & service
Lovely place to dine unfortunately, it is not ADA Compliant (Historical Monument) and it was not mentioned on Open Table - when I RSVP, However the staff accommodated my mother with her wheelchair needs.
Fabulous! Lobster bisque alone was worth the entire tab! Great service.
We had christmas lunch and overall we enjoyed the experience due to the romance of being on the Queen Mary. But it must be said the food & service were just good not great & definitely not gourmet or what I'd call fine dining. Coming from Australia & being in LA for Christmas day it was a fun & special thing to do & the whole experience of eating on the ship & then walking around what is essentially a big museum achieved its purpose of being a memorable day that we really enjoyed... just don't go expecting a great dining experience.
We had the Chateaubriand which was excellently prepared and it was medium rare just like we asked for. Our server was just amazing, very attentive but not hovering.
Unfortunately the restaurant was completely overbooked for Christmas Eve which I thought was completely unfair to the waitstaff and to the customers. The manager, Summer, was grace under pressure and did an excellent job of listening and trying to take good action. Unfortunately the problem was completely caused by upper management. They need to find a better method to confirm reservations in order to predict overall headcount for the evening. No one should be waiting hours for a confirmed reservation. Luckily we did not wait as long for our table but know others did. Does not make for a good customer experience.
We had reservations for 7:30 pm and waited until 8:10 pm to be seated. The only good part of the meal was the bread and the server. We ordered escargot. They served it without the puff pastry even though that was the way it was to be served. In addition ,the escargot had no garlic. I ordered the stuffed lobster. It was very very bland. We ordered clams casino. They were served WITHOUT the bread crumbs! Total waste of time and money! Basically the food is bland, was not prepared the way it was supposed to be served and very expensive. Sorry, but there are way too many other restaurants we can frequent and get better tasting food.
Not worth for a 5 star dining. We waited for 45 minutes to have our table. I ordered a dish of shrimp and it was not available, no more
I would not return
We have been here many times. It is usually good, but this Christmas Eve they were overbooked, and overworked. For the money, the service was so-so.
For being Christmas Eve, I understand the restaurant being busy thus I was fine with a 30 minute seating over our reservation. Our waiter who was assigned to our table had a whole other room. We didn't understand why we would have a waiter from another room if there was one in ours and he seemed to be moving through his table well. We waited almost 25 plus minutes to order and another 45 minutes to get our food. When we received our food, it was cold and our specific temperature orders were not correct. The only sliver of light was the bread and water guy who I believe noticed we were waiting along and tried moved along. The actual waiter though gave no apology and keep moving as we were just another table on his busy night. Highly disappointing for this being the Queen Mary's upscale restaurant. Would not return to this restaurant again.
Our 2nd time in 3 years for Family Christmas Eve dinner / get together.
We planned ahead & made reservations a month ago & the front reception people were helpful & gracious even though the area was jammed with walk-ins hoping / expecting & some demanding seating - Some rude but deftly managed by the 3 Ladies in Charge.
We were comfortably seated in a reasonable time frame - With some time for stragglers in our party of 8 with 2 small kids.
Our service was slightly slowed but very friendly, helpful & professional.
All, but one of us loved our meals (Châteaubriant was the choice of mine & 3 others & it was excellent!). The lamb chops, for one of the family, was a bit fatty for his tastes but not bad enough to send back in his opinion.
Our server treated us to complimentary chocolate dipped strawberries - We were all too full for dessert otherwise.
Upon leaving, near 20:00, the front wait waiting area was more crowded then when we initially arrived with some unpleasant folks complaining while I thanked the Hostesses for the excellent food & service.
We waited a very long time for the food to be served...the food (except for one person) was cold. We were all so hungry that we ate it...the flavor was good...but food was cold. The management was kind enough to come to our table and apologized but didn't even offer to discount the bill...which is their right. We noted that 2 other tables left abruptly and unhappy one person expressed his feelings so that others could hear. We chose this for our Christmas Eve dinner because it was special...I am not sure this is the norm for the Sir Winston but for us we won't be going back.
More accommodating. I heard once from a well known chef, you know it’s a good restaurant, no matter how fancy when they can accommodate kids!
Fine dining in the bygone era, an example of what the term “First Class” really means.
Perfect ambiance, with very soft jazz playing in the background.
Service was exceptional - our waiter was very helpful, from the beginning, making us comfortable, to his suggestion of the wine, to his service with flourish and humor.
The food was as one would hope for (but seldom find) PERFECT.
After dinner drink, coffee and desert were a marvelous ending to a memorable evening.
Service was excellent. Food was quite disappointing. Had to send back the escargot as it was very bland. The steak tar tar was far too heavy on the mustard. The beef Wellington: pastry was over cooked, not enough Demi-glacé and the steak needed seasoning. I expected better.
Retro glamorous menu with Chateaubriand, whole lobster, etc. We had both of those items, as well as an outstanding selection of hors d'oeuvres, including the mushroom tart (better than described on the menu), salmon, beef tartare, escargot, and French onion soup. We also had delightfully light chocolate and Grand Marnier soufflés and cheesecake. Everything was outstanding. This is not our first visit and won't be our last. Excellent choice for special occasions.
Fine dinning on the Queen Mary at Long Beach was quite an experience. We enjoyed Beef Wellington and Jumbo Shrimp. Both were prepared to perfection. The French Onion soup was also delicious. The service was also excellent. We will definitely return.
Great restaurant and excellent service. Our waiter David was exceptional!
Willfredo was fantastic and made our evening so special and memorable. The history and ambiance is incredible too. Definitely will be coming back!
for the premier restaurant on the mary, itself a premier iconic destination in southern california, sir winston's should be a michelin star restaurant or at least aiming to get one......it should be a destination in and of itself, despite the iconic location.......but sadly its food is a disaster.......from being under-spiced, from being plated in a most amateur not-caring fashion, from being totally overpriced, from being not able to even get a steak cooked as ordered, to a most unsatisfactory and failed interpretation of the caesar salad and the tiramisu......sir winston's used to be superb......in every way.......but something happened........not caring management perhaps?.........kitchen staff that not equipped with culinary knowledge to produce a product that sir winston's claims it has?........my advice: yeah go to the queen mary......it is fun and worth it.....as previously said, she's an icon, and an important one.......sir winston's?.......forget!.......you'll be disappointed taste wise and wallet wise..........
It's an excellent restaurant, we have been going there for years and even had our wedding reception there.
The ambiance was beautiful and the service was fine but for the price of the food you would think the food would be served hot and seasoned. The food was bland and luke warm. Was disappointed after spending $400
Great food and great service! We were celebrating an anniversary and they were very sweet!
So disappointed. Took our daughter and two grand-daughters for an overnight stay on the Queen Mary. We chose Sir Winston's to are the evening very special. The restaurant, the view and the service are outstanding. The food was an extreme disappointment. The prawn appetizer looked beautiful but we're tasteless. The mushroom tart looked beautiful, was also relatively tasteless. The tart was served on an oval dish that was placed on a round charger..result wobble, wobble, difficult to cut to eat. The stuffed shrimp was just dry, dry, dry. Beef Wellington was ok.
What a terrible review for what we had hoped would be a Five Star experience.
it was our 30th anniversary and we did the Dinner and a tour last year the food was good that time so my wife wanted to go back and experience the ambience again with a full menu dinner, Well the ambience was good but that night you guys were running a special Fillet Mignon and Lobster and maybe the word "Special"should have been warning but the Lobster was Dry over cooked and tasted nothing like lobster more like rubber, the Stake was as well but not as bad up to this point the night was going good so needless to say the main course almost ruined the night and I say almost because after that we went to the bar on the other side of the boat and after a few drinks we forgot about it and had a good time.
Just a really lovely place to dine and the menu is excellent!
PS what not stay on board as well!!!
Good atmosphere a little disappointed in the noise level where we were seated. But overall a wonderful experience
The only drawback was the hike from parking to the actual restaurant. I even valet parked but with heels and a questionable left knee, the walk was rough. The food, service and atmosphere was wonderful.
Great place to bring a date!
Tom was our server and he was beyond great. He provided wonderful insight into the food and beverage menus. He and the other waitstaff were excellent and attentive. The kitchen was spot on with each dish. The lobster bisque was enjoyable while our entrees left almost no room for dessert. The salmon came out perfectly cooked. The Fruitti de mare was delicious.
I highly recommend this spot for special occasions and such as the atmosphere and ambiance are second to none.
Our server attempted to rush us at first. We slowed him down to make our evening more enjoyable. We had a 7:15 seating. The beef was perfectly cooked for each of us. Very generous cuts. The hostess and bartender in lower level were very friendly. I would suggest a table with a view of Long Beach lights at night. Signage on ship is lacking in finding restaurant entry. We ran into other party also trying to locate it. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner experience
Food was excellent , service was impeccable and ambiance was amazing.
